flukemaster Posted September 8, 2023 #1 Share Posted September 8, 2023 For anyone that has gotten off in this port, what time do let start letting you off the ship since it docks at 7am?

uvadover Posted September 9, 2023 #4 Share Posted September 9, 2023 And since I posted about this last week - you need to have an airport transfer pre-arranged (via RCL or something else) or else you will get absolutely robbed by the few taxis controlled by the goombas who run the port. We weren't warned about this ahead of time and really paid the price. There were a lot of frustrated folks in the same situation.

You were ripped off because you hadn’t done any research as to what prices should be: and you hadn’t prebooked a transfer. They saw you coming. Your experience is not indicative of what usually happens to the thousands of others who disembark in Civ each day.
lovesthebeach2 Posted September 9, 2023 #6 Share Posted September 9, 2023 You can also take the train to Rome if you plan to stay and not go right to the airport. They had a bus for a few euros each that took us to the train station…..we could have walked but the bus was much easier with luggage and only takes a few minutes

You could have easily avoided being ripped off with 5 minutes of planning before you arrived.
shipgeeks Posted September 9, 2023 #8 Share Posted September 9, 2023 We used the cruise line transfer. Not super cheap, but it gave us priority off the ship, luggage service, confidence that it would be there for us, and confidence that we would be taken to the correct terminal. The only downside was waiting for a few stragglers to board the bus. But we still got to the airport before our carrier was even open.

frank808 Posted September 10, 2023 #10 Share Posted September 10, 2023 Pretty far drive from Port of Civitavecchia to FCO. I figure the cab fare would be over 100 euros. What did you pay to feel like you got taken? I paid about 125 euro with tip for a private car from Rome to Port.
Roybthered Posted September 11, 2023 #11 Share Posted September 11, 2023 Have just gotten off Symphony on Thursday 7th Sept and we had transfers from FCO upon arrival and upon the completion of the cruise back to FCO with RCCL. It was so better knowing that they would get us from the airport and back upon the end of the cruise. The trips both ways was easy and to be honest set our minds at rest knowing it was sorted. We did look at transfers privately before we booked it with RCCL however I was not confident with them and the prices were not too different.
