FOXTROT Posted September 16, 2023 #1 Share Posted September 16, 2023 Ordered a reindeer hotdog from a food vendor downtown. That is the only thing I ate that my wife did not. I about 2 hours was sick, yes both ends. 13 hours later I was fine, just a little weak. Text book food poisoning. 2
slidergirl Posted September 17, 2023 #2 Share Posted September 17, 2023 I had no problems with her reindeer hotdog back in May. She was a very nice person. Food poisoning is a small, localized issue. Because one person may have had a gastro issue with something, no need to hyperbolize it and paint the business with a broad brush. It's difficult to pinpoint exactly what causes gastro issues - breakfast, milk/cream in the coffee, bad water, etc.

And the guys has no absolute way to know it was from her reindeer dogs, it's just his guess and he goes with it. While what the gentleman said "may" be true, getting sick while on a cruise is a very common event. I just have a problem with people putting hard working people on blast with no way for her to defend herself. So uncalled for.

wolfie11 Posted September 21, 2023 #5 Share Posted September 21, 2023 I’ve eaten there a number of times and never had any problems. I did have an issue with something I ate on the ship for dinner one night though.

LAX Reindeer sausage is a staple throughout Alaska. They sell it at souvenir stores and you can get hot dogs at some restaurants or food trucks. He didn't put anyone on "blast" he simply posted to exercise caution. The only one blasting someone is you. He is allowed to express his opinion even if you disagree with it. Your blast was uncalled for.

wcook Posted May 26 #12 Share Posted May 26 Without extensive lab tests, it’s pretty much impossible to identify the source of “food poisoning” in a single individual. Could have been the hot dogs. Could be something you ate a week ago. Two hours would be an unusually short incubation time - but certainly possible. Heck, it could even be Noro picked up touching a hand rail on ship. No matter the source, it’s extremely unpleasant. Hope you are feeling better.

They are a frequent breakfast food served with omelettes and the like. Heck -- as I type this there is a package in our freezer which was purchased in our local Costco. I was at the Tanana Vally farmers market yesterday. The crepe place has an amazing reindeer sausage stroganoff crepe. Almost as addictive as the falafel place.
