alwayscruisetime Posted September 25, 2023 #1 Share Posted September 25, 2023 Thank you in advance. First timers on Royal Caribbean, and we visit both of these places (realize Labadee is not actually an island.) Is there snorkeling accessible right from the beach? Is access to the water rocky? Debating on bringing full-face snorkel masks and whether to choose hard-soled water shoes or more flexible.

Surface under water varies but in most places you can get by without water shoes.

We have been going to CocoCay for years and never wear water shoes.
Norwich Cruiser Posted September 25, 2023 #4 Share Posted September 25, 2023 Chill Beach at Coco Cay is far better than anything at Labadee.
smokeybandit Posted September 25, 2023 #5 Share Posted September 25, 2023 Ironically, Barefoot Beach at Labadee has a ton of sharp shells to walk through to get to deeper water

Tried at Columbus Cove, but quickly abandoned that as an option. We liked Nellie's, but have to agree that the snorkeling on Coco Cay Chill beach is much better. We always bring our own equipment, including closed heel flippers and snorkel vests. Say hi to the octopus at Chill Beach for us😇
renza Posted September 26, 2023 #7 Share Posted September 26, 2023 Columbus Cove is an awesome place to hang out in labadee but not for snorkeling. Too sandy. Not rocky at all. Definitely more snorkeling in CocoCay. I am just not a fan of CocoCay. It’s like Disney. In labadee, we stay on the ship all day, and when everybody starts getting back on board, we get off and enjoy a peaceful, amazing three hours to our self. I've snorkeled both places and always wear water shoes and use a full-faced snorkel mask. Enjoy. DDawg
