Rare Ken the cruiser Posted October 19, 2023 Author #151 Share Posted October 19, 2023 (edited) Day 6 - Caribbean Princess embarkation day! All went very smoothly when we arrived and got in the Blue Lane to check in. All together, it took all of about 10-15 minutes to check in, get our medallions, and board the ship! 😁 Here’s some of the paperwork waiting in our cabin. How do take great pictures? Thanks! I have an iPhone SE, which is pretty much the cheapest one. I basically take a bunch of pictures, usually around 5, and then pick the best one to subsequently crop to get rid of any blurry parts on the picture. I then edit the cropped photo using the “brilliance” option, which allows me to brighten the picture, which came in handy on this precruise when the sun wasn’t shining brightly on the colorful leaves.

Rare Ken the cruiser Posted October 20, 2023 Author #155 Share Posted October 20, 2023 Finally, we might start seeing sunsets again. However, tonight we had to leave a few minutes early to make our early reservation time at the Crown Grill. Then after a tasty meal, we headed over to the theater to watch an hilarious comedian AJ Jamal! 😂 We then headed to the Explorers Lounge to watch another funny game show. But since we have an early morning excursion tomorrow, we called it a night and headed back to the cabin.

We had a fun time on our excursion today. We left the pier at about 8:29 am and headed first to Place Royale. Here are some photos of our adventures. The pigeons were very elusive today, but we did see this cute little guy munching on what looks like part of a cracker. Of course, I had to take a picture of the Fairmont Chateau Frontenac, the most photographed hotel in all of Canada. Photos taken from the Dufferin Terrace of the Saint Lawrence River. Later on we’ll be on the other side of the river to have lunch and see the Sainte Anne Basilica. We didn’t see any pigeons today. But we saw a home specifically created for pigeons to hang out in from what our tour guide told us! 😂 One of the oldest buildings in Quebec City built around 1675. Crossing the Saint Lawrence River to tour the island, visit the Basilica, and have lunch. Quebec City off in the distance. We passed this house that reminded us of the Addams Family house on the way to the Montmorency Waterfall. The view from the bridge above the waterfall. Montmorency Waterfall I think this is a tern flying around near the waterfall. And this little critter just caught my eye as we were heading back to the bus. 😁 Once we got back to the cabin, I took this picture from our balcony just before we headed off to a tasty dinner in the Reserve Dining Room.
Rare Ken the cruiser Posted October 21, 2023 Author #162 Share Posted October 21, 2023 After a tasty dinner in the Reserve Dining Room, we headed back to our cabin to watch the CB sail away from the pier. Then it was time to head to the early show in the theater to watch a fantastic performance by Jassen Allen paying tribute to Lionel Richie! 😁 Then we were off to the Explorers Lounge to watch the hilarious Yes/No Game Show!

Rare abbydancer2003 Posted October 21, 2023 #165 Share Posted October 21, 2023 We were in Quebec City for a couple of precruise days, and we had dinner at the restaurant you posted the picture of. (Aux anciens Canadiens). It was great - and their Maple Syrup Pie was amazing.
GonzoWCS Posted October 21, 2023 #166 Share Posted October 21, 2023 Two days going down the St Lawrence I think I would sleep outside on the balcony or deck so as not to miss a thing. Beautiful area of the world! Cheers

However, it’s about 51F outside, so I’ve got a blanket over my legs as it’s just a little chilly sitting out here in my shorts! 😂
Rare Ken the cruiser Posted October 21, 2023 Author #168 Share Posted October 21, 2023 This morning after having a tasty breakfast in Sabatini’s, we headed to the theater to listen to David Wiemers, a very well respected Hollywood writer and producer as well as a very enjoyable lecturer to listen to. He’s going to be giving 5 lectures on this cruise, which I’m sure we will be attending all of them. 😁
Rare Ken the cruiser Posted October 21, 2023 Author #169 Share Posted October 21, 2023 (edited) Since we’ll be cruising through the Gulf of St Lawrence for the next day or so, I had to see if there was a chance of seeing any whales swimming about while we’re here. And sure enough there is at least the potential from May to November for seeing them. 🤞 So I guess I’ll be spending a lot of our daytime down time out on our balcony watching for them! 😁 The Gulf of St. Lawrence is an incredibly diverse area located at the mouth of the St. Lawrence River, where the Great Lakes flush out into the Atlantic Ocean. This estuary ecosystem is one of the largest of its kind in the world and has many unique species that call it home. Read on to learn about a few species of whales that can be found in this part of Canada. https://oceana.ca/en/blog/what-whales-live-canadas-gulf-st-lawrence/ Edited October 21, 2023 by Ken the cruiser

As you have been quite busy since you left home This is true, and I will say it was definitely nice to sleep in this morning, even if it was only to 8:30 am! Plus the older we get, the more we look forward to sea days. I remember when we first started cruising back in 2012 when our goal was the more port days the better. Now for us it’s more about the journey, and of course the itinerary. 😁 This afternoon after lunch and then going to a fun game show in Club Fusion, I’m back out on our “chilly” aft-facing balcony watching nature go by while my DW is with her daughter and her spouse playing board games. No whales yet, but I find the ever changing cloud formations interesting. I know, I’m easily entertained! 😂
Rare Ken the cruiser Posted October 21, 2023 Author #173 Share Posted October 21, 2023 And then an hour later right before getting ready for formal night tonight, the cloud formations changed again in an awesome way. 😁

However if any of you got a great upgrade to suite R404 please enjoy…..missing my first Crowne Grill dinner and all those fabulous Sabatini breakfasts…..my only consolation is the sun is shining, there is no wind and it’s 70 degrees in Nebraska…..
