So glad to have found this post! We are doing the 10 Day on Venezia on January 23rd 2024. Different itinerary, but happy to learn about the ship.

Glad you found us,  and hope that this review will be helpful to you. If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask. 😎

Day # 1   9/23/23  -  Embarkation Day!!

It’s cruising day! We are up early to finish packing and load up the car for our ride into our homeport city of New York. The outer bands of Tropical Storm Ophelia have reached us and it is beginning to rain. Normally, we would park at the pier. Last year the cost was $42 / day, with a $400 cap, which would have been a bargain for parking for 21 days. This year, they raised the price to $45, with no cap, so it would cost us $945 to park. Not happening! Our son Ryan would be dropping us off and picking us up. Our plan is to leave at 8:30am for our sixty minute drive into the city. Ryan takes our standard departure picture…….

Ryan is our chauffeur for today…..

It’s not long before we are heading through the Lincoln tunnel into the city…..

We arrived at Pier 88 at 9:40am, where the Carnival Venezia was waiting for us…..

Bye Ryan! See you in three weeks!......

We enter the Manhattan Cruise Terminal……

Going through security and checking in was a breeze. We were seated in the Priority Area by 9:55am. Here is the embarkation photo backdrop, but the photographers haven’t arrived yet…..

To be continued……

Good Lord, he has grown, haven't really been monitoring CC since the vid hit and recently jumped back on.

Hi there! I know you are currently out to sea, but hope to pick your brain. I keep reading about the extreme smoke smell on this ship in the casino and the surrounding areas. I know that you participate at the tables so can you comment on your experience? I’m used to the normal casino smoke smells but the reviews seem more over the top. Thank you!

Cheers,

Maryann

Thanks for reading. Both of our cruises on the Venezia were Elite cruises,  so very heavy play, meaning very smoky. We played in the non smoking casino annex which wasn't as bad, but far from smoke free. 😎

This review is wonderful, and your pictures are the best! I'll be cruising on this ship next month (12 night Southern Caribbean) and feel much more prepared due to your reviews.  I have a question I hope you can help me with.  I had called Carnival Customer service and inquired about whether the ship stays on home port time, or switches to local time when visiting ports. He told me they shift the clocks to line up with local time, but I have had others on the message board tell me that I was given bad info, and they always stay on home port time. Since you sailed on this exact ship and experienced time zone changes on your cruise, can you please tell me if they always stayed on EST, or did they move the clocks to the local port time? I have some independent excursions booked, and want to make sure I'm not an hour late!

Thank you!

I'm pretty sure we stayed on New York time the whole cruise. 😎

What's that saying...better late than never?  We'll I took that saying to heart.  I started your review back in October and got roughly half way through.  Then life got busy in early November with daily babysitting (baby niece) and followed the holidays.  Today I was completely caught up with the current Tribe cruise reviews so I decided to jump back here and finish reading this one.  As always, you and your wonderful photographer did an awesome job with this review.

Thanks for finding the time to come back and finish the review,  and for your kind words! We appreciate it. Next one begins in about 10 days. 😎

Just finished reading this review & enjoyed seeing the pics of NYC! My husband is from there & we really need to do a cruise from NYC sometime in the future. Thank you for another great review & will be looking for your Tribe cruise review.😊

Thanks for reading! Everyone should cruise from New York at least once, though some may beg to differ. The sail away from there is second to none! The Tribe cruise review will be going up next week. Stay tuned! :classic_cool:

Perfect timing! I'm going on the Venezia in a couple weeks. Love your reviews and can't wait to see what y'all have to say about the Venezia.

2/11?  If so I'll see you on board!

I can't agree more with you about NYC, Jeff! I think we're up to about 20 NYC sailaways - mostly Carnival, with some Cunard and Norwegian in the mix. I never get tired of it.

I loved the Tribe live reviews - really want to see yours!
