TravelerTeacherRetired Posted April 20 #927 Share Posted April 20 (edited) What is LCR? Thanks. I’m stressing over packing for 2 weeks on Homelands cruise. I can’t imagine packing for all the varied temperatures a 3 month cruise would require. Edited April 20 by TravelerTeacherRetired

We didn’t know it was breakfast food but according to our friend Wiki it is! #yummy. Mouth watering selection of what looks like Mediterranean/Greek items, but didn't see any feta cheese!

I can’t imagine packing for all the varied temperatures a 3 month cruise would require. World cruises "follow Summer" more or less. We have never needed heavy gear or boots. Nothing more than a light jacket or maybe a sweater. You start out in the Southern Hemisphere soon after leaving the West coast and it is their Summer. When you cross the equator northerly it is usually well into Spring on the Northern side. Finish nearly into our Summer. 1

rockingarmadillo Posted April 21 #941 Share Posted April 21 We are considering going on this itinerary in 2026. How hard is it to book your desired excursions when you are in the DV category?

How hard is it to book your desired excursions when you are in the DV category? This is our second world cruise with Viking, both in DV's. I've been pretty lucky and was able to get most all of our first choices. When we were blocked out, slots usually came available sometime during the voyage. Once aboard you can put yourself on a wait list and most always a spot became available. It helps to have done your homework in advance and jump right on making reservations when the window opens. You can look back at prior posts and find comments on strategies to take.

How hard is it to book your desired excursions when you are in the DV category? Not hard. We got everything we wanted, You have to do your research, rank the excursions you want the most and sign up for them first. Sign up as soon as the booking period opens (down to the minute it opens). After getting the ones you want the most, book the rest of your optional excursions, then you can go back and sign up for any included tours you want. If you start from day one and go sequentially through the days you’ll find that some of the optional excursions will be sold out. A spread sheet like @Penspack created for this WC made the ranking a breeze.

Not sure if you're tracking, but Carnival's brand ambassador, I'm guessing he's c-suite, saw somebody running a table game in the cafeteria and reported it to the ship... and then they had to end the game. I get part of the argument that if you did this in Vegas at one of the many, many restaurants, they'd throw you out. I would hope Viking would be above that.

Rare Clay Clayton Posted April 22 #950 Share Posted April 22 Chag Pesach Sameach to all who celebrate Passover. We joined some of the Jewish guests onboard for Seder this evening. @drjj (who apparently has been leading the Sabbath services) asked Viking if it was possible to have a Seder and other than putting together the program and leading it, the great staff and crew onboard did the rest. This was Mike’s first Seder ever and my first in at least 45 years so to us it was perfection. Some of course said their Mother’s Matzo Ball soup (failed to take a picture) was better but then shouldn’t it be? 😂 All in all, an enjoyable and educational evening learning about our friends and fellow passengers. Happy Passover everyone! (and yes the two of us WILL be eating bread for the next 8 days-we just went to a dinner-we didn’t convert😂.
