Hmmm good to know. We were going to Al Bacchio for takeout coffee as we could not find paper cups in ovc.

Sure it’s not a new thing either, I remember seeing badly behaved children on holidays I took as a kid. 1

It’s a cheap no frills budget experience. actually, our first Celebrity cruise - one week on Reflection for Spring break 2024 - is the same price as our first Carnival cruise on Horizon for Thanksgiving 2024 (also one week). Not sure who spreads rumors that Carnival sells their experience for cheap. Neither cruise is actually cheap compared to our previous and future cruises on Princess, RCI and MSC.

IMO, the "cheap" designation comes from the fact that Carnival was the line that sailed so many short 3 and 4 day itineraries. Short cruises = Cheap cruises. That said, with Reflection and Silhouette short Bahamas cruises, Celebrity appears to be trying to wrestle that label away from Carnival.

We board Equinox in about an hour (December 19, 2023). It probably will not be perfect, but our balcony cabin WAS cheap. My expectations are not too high, so they should be easily met. Even on our Viking Ocean cruise there was room for improvement. I agree, not a fan of Viking

Now, spring break, Celebrity ship full of FSU students...yep, plenty of early (and constant) intoxication. Our Carnival bartenders said the key to Carnival is longer cruises as the short ones tend to be booze cruises.

But, the wife and I both decided that 4 sea days each way was too much for us.

We LOVE sea days. We have 7 in a row in April on our transatlantic; only 4 ports over 16 days. WOO HOO.

The Fun Researcher Posted January 2 #99 Share Posted January 2 13 hours ago, RichYak said: The oldest ships in the Carnival, Celebrity, RCL, NCL and Princess fleets were all built in the late 90's. True, but the "older" ships vary quite a bit when comparing Carnival to Royal. Carnival has 17 of it's 27 ships in it's fleet that date 2010 or older, with the average passenger count of those ships at 2800. On average the ships have less venues and activities to offer. Royal has 18 of it's 26 ships in it's fleet that date 2010 or older, but the average passenger count of those ships at 3800. Even going back to 1999, the Voyager class was 4000 guests and 138,000 gross tons, and included the innovative Royal Promenade, ice skating rinks, expansive venues and activities. I just think Royal's fleet as a whole is more innovative, with more to do, and better maintained. Not knocking Carnival, just looking at them objectively and why Royal maybe can demand a higher price on average.
