Voyager Class Entertainment Options?

Recommended Posts

We've been sailing on bigger ships the last few times and it has been quite a while since we last sailed this class, so my memories are fuzzy and things may have changed over the last decade.

Any info on entertainment on Voyager class in general and Mariner of the Seas in particular within the last 6 months or so would be greatly appreciated.

Production shows, royal promenade shows, pub singer, lounge bands, solo musicians around the ship's public areas, cooking demos, Ice carving, anything that falls under the entertainment umbrella.

Thanks in advance! I know that Cruise Critic folks are a wealth of knowledge on just about any cruising question.

Go into the RCI app and search the current sailing. It will show you everything that's going on.

Our upcoming cruise is all that shows on the app. There is some general information, but I can't find a search function. Even on the full PC website, I'm not aware of any entertainment info specific to a particular ship and sailing. They just show the venues and not the specific performers or shows. I'm looking for info from people who have sailed on this ship recently. Thanks for the reply, though, I appreciate it.

Thanks for posting this, I appreciate it, but this Youtuber was pretty light on the details. He did answer a couple of the questions I had, but he also spent half of the 8 minute video expressing his dislike of cruise ship comedians, etc. I do typically do quite a bit of Youtube "research" before a cruise, but I'm not getting the info I'm most interested in. It can be hit or miss, depending on the Youtuber and how recent the video is.

One thing in particular that I'm interested in hearing (preferably from someone who has sailed this ship within the last 3-4 months) is about live music and bands on the ship. I noted in the description of the Lounge on the opposite end of the Royal Promenade from the MDR, that they mentioned events and trivia, but not live music. In the past, there were often bands playing there in the evening and I wondered if that has changed.

Thanks again for the reply, I do appreciate it.

These are the steps on the app to look at live cruises. #1 Tap on “Select a different cruise” #2 Scroll down. Tap on “Don’t see your cruise? Let’s add it now” #3 Scroll down. Tap on “browse our ships” #4 Pick a ship and current cruise. Look at all the activities on the calendar, menus, etc. When you’re done go back to select a different cruise and load your upcoming cruise again.

This doesn't work. For whatever reason, the current cruise daily activity and entertainment tabs are not showing any shows or music, just casino activities and other info that's readily available.

Is there anyone out there who has sailed Mariner within the last few months?

There is a web site where Cruise Compass documents are posted. The website cannot be linked here due to message board rules but if you search on Google for "Mariner of the Seas Cruise Compass" you can find the site, it should be the first one listed. It looks like there are Mariner Cruise Compasses for 4 and 5 night cruises, and an 8-night in October, but these should give you a good idea of what to expect. You could also look at other Voyager class Cruise Compasses.

Thank you! That should have all the info I need!

I was able to find a couple of Cruise Compasses from the last couple of months. They were both 5 day sailings and ours will be a 7 day, so there may be minor differences, but the info gives me a good idea of what to expect.

For others who may be curious about the live music aboard, it seems that the only change since our last Mariner sailing is that they don't have live music in the Star Lounge, except for a big band show by the ship's orchestra.

Live music for dancing in the evenings is mostly centered at Bolero's, with events on the pool deck and the Royal Promenade, plus the Pub singer and of course, the obligatory Caribbean band on the pool deck, which by the way, I love!

I think you need to try the above steps again. I will add a step though. Open the app and click on the little person at the top of the screen then follow the steps listed. Make sure you follow the steps exactly, some scrolling is required to find the right tab to click on. When you have found the Mariner cruises, click on the current sailing (or the next one which is 7 days) then click on the daily planner.

I did all that, but the info wasn't specific. Thanks though! I do appreciate the efforts to help. I found the info I was looking for through some recent Cruise Compasses that were searchable.

Mariner is currently chartered as the Star Trek cruise with the 80s cruise the next cruise on Mariner. That is likely why you are only seeing limited information on the app for these cruises.
