mufasa95 Posted February 29 #51 Share Posted February 29 Thanks for the info! Would you happen to know if cabin 9204 (C2) has a tall tampered blue glass on its balcony?

I like the cabana room that has an enclosed balcony, looking out to sea with lounger and fool stool. Pictures 2-3-4 of the actual balcony. The others look like a mass cabana deck. How is that relaxing? Would be great if you had a large group traveling together. It is one of the C2 cabanas. They are all on deck 9. The other ones that open directly onto cabana deck are C1 cabanas. 1

SCX22 Posted February 29 #54 Share Posted February 29 In case Princess wants to add furniture to the quasi outdoor area, I found the matching chairs at TJ Maxx. 1

All the back and forth kinda has me wondering if I should try to change the room selection or even upgrade to a suite. Any suggestions? @Hobby3333 you are in a C2. It doesn't open onto the cabana deck. IMO, the only downside, if it bugs you, is the blue glass.

I plan on keeping my booking and enjoy something different and new for me.

It does appear that the lounges could be used by anyone in that section. Maybe the access door at the ends is blocked unless your medallion is programed to open it?
disgirl Posted March 2 #58 Share Posted March 2 The cabana cabins remind me of the Lanais on Holland America ships. You have your own loungers outside of the balcony door on the Promenade deck where everyone is walking by.

You can't take a single good picture from your balcony. All bluish and with reflections. When it rains or the glass gets dirty (oh yes it will), you wont see anything and may not even use autofocus of your camera.

There are some people who won’t be bothered by it, but there are many who will. No idea why Princess put that glass there. It doesn’t seem necessary.

MTNest93 Posted March 2 #63 Share Posted March 2 I’m curious to hear feedback on how crowded (or not) that deck gets with both the C1 and C2 mini’s having access to it. I also wonder if families with little ones and groups will overtake the area and let friends/family have access to it through their cabins. On longer cruises while school is in session, I could see it being a nice quiet private retreat. I guess only time will tell. Meanwhile I’m happy with our choice to book a cabana mini on deck 10.

I wouldn’t even mind the glass being high so much, especially on a transatlantic, if it wasn’t blue. Even the cabana deck on the renderings shows high glass, but not in blue, so obviously that was one of those last minute bad decisions. Or maybe they’ve just forgotten to remove the protective plastic seal 🤷🏻♀️

Princessfan20 Posted March 2 #66 Share Posted March 2 Still waiting for someone who is on the Sun NOW to confirm "how awful the Cabana Minis are" like many have been suggesting here. I find it surprising that there almost no post of current passengers on the Sun, in a Cabana Mini, who have complained yet, expect for some on these boards who are going off a partial picture of the cabin or cabins from another cruise company's ships?

Rare cruisequeen4ever Posted March 2 #68 Share Posted March 2 I was excited about the concept of the cabana staterooms. Having now seen the reality, I’m not interested. I want to be right at the sea when I go out on my balcony. I want privacy on that balcony. I don’t want everyone staring down at me while I read. I don’t want people walking by my stateroom looking in; nor do I want to have to close my curtains to prevent that. The TV “room” with an uncomfortable looking patio loveseat seems worthless. If they had just made each person’s area jut fully out to the outer railing, all of the issues would be solved.

There are quite a number of Cabana Minis on deck 10 that do exactly what you suggested. Not all Cabana Mini's are on deck nine and also all of the ones on deck nine do not front the Cabana deck area. Yeah, you can see through them, but they're tinted and you can't stick your arms out like a regular height balcony barrier. Agree & on Royal-class ships the midship DW/BW balconies are categorized as “obstructed” yet when looking out from the blue glass there is no obstruction & only when looking downward…like those cabins you expressed your opinion about. And the obstruction on the DW/BW balconies are a deck below & not merely a few feet away. Edited March 2 by Astro Flyer
Chefwoody Posted March 2 #71 Share Posted March 2 Does anyone know it you still have to run up to the sanctuary to reserve? Also is there still smoking allowed in the casino?
Rare cr8tiv1 Posted March 2 #72 Share Posted March 2 My thoughts/concerns/questions are the same. What would prevent me (not that I would ever do this/or book this ship) from having all of my friends and/or family from enjoying the secluded cabana area. 12 hours ago, MTNest93 said: I’m curious to hear feedback on how crowded (or not) that deck gets with both the C1 and C2 mini’s having access to it. Also is there still smoking allowed in the casino? Seems difficult to say. The Sanctuary area on Sun is MUCH larger and holds over 300 guests as opposed to 50 on a "normal" Sanctuary. There appears to be a lot of standard (not padded) lounges by the pool and absolutely no shade. A quick youtube search for something like sun princess sanctuary will pull up a video tour

I happened to see an answer posted earlier in this lengthy thread…yes except for as I recall at most table games. It was stated that there are still people who will sit in front of a machine to smoke without playing them.

I saw a video this morning posted on facebook and it looked pretty awesome. Regular balcony, no raised glass, and also had the small room with additional tv.
