You aren’t missing anything there, but I would say there is great stuff NEAR Vegas to explore, such as the Grand Canyon and Hoover Dam. But I’d be perfectly fine never going to Vegas again. Some people love it, not me. The Strip is kind of neat to drive up…once. I remember one airport, I forgot to mention. And airport in Jamaica, possibly Sangster. I should have looked suspicious with long hair and a beard going there and coming back from there. However, I was not a single guy as I was with my wife spending our 20th anniversary (way back last century) at an AI owned by the locals in Ochos Rios.
sandycruzr Posted March 20 #177 Share Posted March 20 I’m sorry this happened to you. Out of 120 cruises it happened to me once. It stinks! I’ve also had items stolen from my bag once..it occurred sometime between me leaving my suitcase in the hallway and pickup in the terminal. Sadly, it’s rare but does happen. trivia addict Posted March 21 #179 Share Posted March 21 Add to that list The Painted Desert and Red Rock Canyon. The only time our luggage receipts were checked was back in the 70s. For a time at LaGuardia, the luggage area was fenced in and in order to get out with your luggage you had to show your receipt to a guard at the exit.

And we have never been to or likely will ever be in Las Vegas, just not our style. With you on Vegas. Used to go there a couple of times a year for conferences. 3 nites is my max, and that's pushing it. Also agree about a visit to Hoover Dam or Red Rocks. Those are worth a special trip. I'm not a Kenny Loggins fan, but my ex was. She drug me to see him at Red Rocks. Great concert is a great venue. I was pleasantly shocked. Go to a concert there if you ever get the chance. Never been to Las Vegas, and have no desire to go there. The first time I was ever in a casino was our honeymoon (1977) in Paradise Island, the Bahamas. We just walked through. There is not a casino in my neck of the woods. I've been there but never gambled. The first time was both to just go there and to see Slam Allen (who you and I discussed in another thread and used to be on the Epic) in concert. The second time was for a class reunion. Our class was given a room.to meet in. If you are ever in my neck of the woods, Bethel Woods is a great concert site. It is where the original Woodstock concert was held in 1969. There is also a museum dedicated to the Woodstock concert and the 1960s. Edited March 21 by ontheweb added last paragraph
OBSESSIVEWORLDTRAVELER Posted March 21 #182 Share Posted March 21 Am I the only person who buys cheap luggage wears cheap clothes on vacation and hopes the airline or port workers lose my luggage so I can file an insurance claim? Don't put anything that is irreplaceable in your luggage and buy travel insurance and this is a nonissue. 1

But the value of whatever is in my checked bag (if I even need to check a bag) is minimal, probably under $250. It wouldn't be a hardship if it went missing/was stolen. But, I wear shorts and t-shirts whilst on vacation. My fancy schmancy clothes are saved for work.

Yeah, I think you're the only one. I also think you were making somewhat of a joke to make a point. I don't buy expensive luggage, but I do want quality luggage that won't fail during my holiday. I buy comfortable clothes without regard to appearance. As long as Lands' End stays around, I'm good.😎 As I've shared before, they sell some outstanding 100% Cotton Jersey Knit Sweat Pants (non-cuffed) that look just like those ridiculous black dress "slacks" worn by the slackers (see what I did there) in LeBistro. I only get dirty looks from DD and DW, but if they want me to go to LeBistro with them, that's the way it's going to be.😛

It can be a hassle, especially if my winter stuff gets lots on the way home to Sweden. Nothing irreplaceable in my checked bag, and I often fly home wearing my boots because those would be the hardest and most essential to replace.

I played hooky and flew across the country to see U2 on my first visit. Mom and dad still don't know. 🤭 And I did not have any luggage with me on that trip, so nothing to lose other than my life had parents found out. I buy "ordinary" type luggage because I think high-end luggage attracts thieves and may attract pickpockets when you're wheeling it through crowded streets and train stations. Don't put anything that is irreplaceable in your luggage and buy travel insurance and this is a nonissue. Not by far, would be my guess. I grabbed a bright aqua Swiss Gear 25" checked luggage on sale for $91, added some colorful Duck Tape to further differentiate it and then I put nothing in it that I can't easily replace, including my clothing, which mostly comes from Walmart or Target. When I make my packing list, I do it as a Google Doc and add the cost basis for everything in the checked luggage and replacement cost. The checked bag then has a AIG Travel Guard Bag Trak card in it and an Air Tag. I try to only take non-stop flights, so it reduces the amount of times the airline can lose my bag. I, too, am curious if the original poster was reunited with their luggage or if it was truly stolen forever.

Our duffel bag is a super cheap Coleman bag that my husband bought back in 2017. Zipper thingies (the part you hold to zip) are missing, it's all sorts of airplane stained, and well doesn't look fancy. We throw our clothes and water shoes in it and off we go. I hope OP found the missing luggage too! Edited March 21 by cruiseny4life

It will even help to further cultivate the desired "impoverished traveler chic". :))) 1
