When was the last NCL sale? I don't ever remember one. 3
TRLD Posted April 3 #727 Share Posted April 3 3 minutes ago, Mike07 said: The Solo tax is real, and Celebrity is one that is going so far as not just charging 2x as much, but sometimes over twice as much (e.g. cheaper to book the same cabin for two people), because Celebrity's algorithms are saying that they're "losing" revenue on casino/SD/excursion/spa spend. based upon the current sec filings showing onboard spend is 33% of revenue they would need to charge a Solo 2.5 times that of the per person fare in a 2 person cabin. At 2X the cruise line would still expect to lose revenue compared to 2 per cabin. This is with the main stream lines including Celebrity.

eric4395 Posted April 3 #729 Share Posted April 3 29 pages too much to read through although i have read some. Was this group of passengers altogether on a private excursion. What was the name of the company running the excursion What was the reason given that they werent back by 3pm Was it the tours fault or the passengers How late were they after 3pm was it minutes or hours. There are hundreds of passengers do there own thing and also go on private excursions throughout the world on cruises, they seem to be getting a hard time so can i assume it was something to do with them that they were late.

IDK if that's a joke or what... but yes, all the lines are always having "sales" and then when you dive deeper on the data, it's the same prices as before. IMHO, it's good to know what you want and what you're willing to pay for it... and then either the prices work out or they never work out. If the deal's not there, it's just more money in my pocket.

That coast guard vessel sits too low in the water (not enough freeboard) to align with the platform designed for embarking and disembarking passengers from ship's tenders. They still would have needed to climb a rope ladder thus being endangered. YOU'RE WELCOME! 😄

But I still think the daughter doesn't have any right to complain about NCL "dumping" her mom in a hospital alone. Somebody should have been travelling with her. The daughter and son-in-law relied on an Apple Air Tag to let them know where Mom was? What a joke. Mom should have been providing regular updates. They said they noticed that the Air Tag stayed in Sao Tome even though the ship had moved on. They said they didn't hear from Mom until Mom used someone's phone to call them. If Mom didn't have a phone or didn't know how to communicate with them back home, she definitely shouldn't have been travelling alone. I'm in my mid 70s and frequently travel alone - keeping in touch with my sons is the primary reason i get unlimited wifi. But I honestly never gave a thought to an emergency situation where I could not communicate. I'll be much more aware of what i take with me on excursions - Ive been known to disembark with a water bottle and my phone. I'll take medical info and insurance paperwork with me on future excursions. Edited April 3 by herbanrenewal
Rare A&L_Ont Posted April 3 #734 Share Posted April 3 (edited) After reading all 30 pages over the last few hours I’ve had a few laughs, shook my head at some comments, and have concluded that our practice of taking extra cash and credit cards to port and returning an hour early is a great cruise philosophy. We also take our cells with travel plans and take a of photo or the port agent’s contact info before heading off the ship in every port for just in case purposes. (1) They were on a private excursion (2) The name of the excursion company or the reason for the delay has not been given as of now or who was at fault for the delay. (3) They were at least an hour or more delayed. From what I understand this was only the 2nd cruise ship to visit this port of call since December. Maybe the Port Authorities were unfamiliar in how to handle cruise ships. Since this port of call was not on the original itinerary for this cruise, I wonder how this people booked this particular excursion. This cruise was supposed to sail the Red Sea and the Suez Canal before sailing to Barcelona, Spain (Disembarkation point). All good questions but for the most part unanswered as only the passengers left behind can answer them.

We are doing a similar set of cruises next year and have just a balcony and it will be close to that for all 3 cruises. Ok, I saw a New York Post article on this news item and the lady with the stroke traveling solo had a room with a small dinner table in it. I'm guessing she had a suite or a really nice room. That could easily be $20k solo with airfare.
