CARNIVAL VIPP STATUS MATCH

Will Carnival honour and match loyalty levels with the other cruise lines that fall under the Carnival Corporation umberela?

Bob

No, but its something they should do.  If I choose to try another line, I would be more willing to try Princess if I got some sort of recognition, but now I'm looking at Celebrity or Virgin more because if I'm starting over, I'm starting over with a new line that will reciprocate.

We are 4 star on Holland and only done three short on Carnival. Have three more on carnival only as my wife gets amazing deals through the casino.

It should be between lines as all corporately owned .

I should send an email to investor relations for the board to vote on LOL

That's how hotel programs work.  Marriott will give you credit whether you stay at Courtyard or Ritz-Carlton.

Not a fair comparison. All of the hotels use the same program. The different cruise lines under the Carnival Corp umbrella all have different programs.

You completely missed the point.  Carnival Corporation is leaving money on the table by not incentivizing VIFP members who want to move up to a higher class of cruise line to go to, example, Princess or Holland.  Without some incentive, all other things equal, that member is just as likely to try Celebrity or Virgin.

The major hotel brands get this.  If I'm a Bonvoy member who usually stays at Fairfield Inns but am looking for a better experience, being able to keep some Bonvoy benefits at for example a Marriott encourages me to stay in the Marriott hotel portfolio vs. going, for example, to a Hilton.

I truncated your post, so forgive me. To my answer.

Carnival does not care to more than a casual level about their past guest program. Consider the chess set, Nike hat, wrist slap bracelet, fanny pack and more.

My first cruise was on the Mardi Gras from Miami in 1976. My wife and I made diamond last year and scattered thirty-six cruises, most from your and my home state here in Galveston. The decline in value of status accelerated in a post-Covid cruise world.

After a five night trip on the Breeze in November 22 we finally gave up after sixteen years of Carnival exclusive. We have sailed on the Quantum to Alaska last June and the Icon in March. There is no comparison. None. We got a balcony on the Icon for under 4 grand with insurance and gratuities. Our next is Europe in 2025 (pending good outcomes on chemo for me) on the Independence. By comparison we tried the Jubilee from here for a 7 nigher and it was higher.

Carnival is happy that we have aged out. They thrive on Blue and Red cards spending money.

I'll stop now, most will disagree, but at age 65 the funnel folks don't need me.

My post was about Carnival Corporation, not Carnival Cruise Line.  My point was that Carnival Corporation should care about incentivizing VIFP members who are over Carnival Cruise Line to branch out to other Carnival Corporation brands rather than competing brands.

Got it. I was quick on the trigger.

Need to hurry with Virgin - their match is expiring

Princess still counts cruise days OR number of cruises toward loyalty levels. Who else does that?

HAL counts cruise days and an extra point for every $300 spent on board.

NCL counts a point a day. NCL move up fast and have the best perks of any cruiseline I have seen.

Other cruise lines do extra points for suites or singles.  What perks does NCL offer that makes you think that they have the best perks.

Thanks for the input.  I still feel that my RCCL perks are better, especially when combined with the casino program, but to each their own. I may venture back to NCL one day.

☝️This!☝️

Free drinks in the casino + 5 free drink vouchers is practically a free drink package, at least with the way I spend my time on a cruise.
