Live Eclipse

For those interested in entertainment offerings, use the Celebrity app to check out the current week’s activities and menus on the Eclipse to get an idea of what to expect on your upcoming cruise.  No tickets for shows are necessary.  I haven’t had a problem finding a seat, even at the last minute, on most shows in the theater.

We are joining eclipse on 6/16. If anyone who went recently can post a couple daily schedules, I'd really appreciate it!

Also, what are some of the evenings entertainment? Do we need to get tickets ahead of time, similar to RC?

Good morning, I sailed her on 5/26. Sorry, no copies of schedules......and as for tickets for shows? Nope, none needed. Just go to the theater and find a seat. Plenty available.

I read on a FB group that one day there was a singalong to Queen.  Wondering if it was a usual weekly event.  Also hoped someone could post a few dailies so we could get an idea of the daily activities.

We have had Queen and Abba singalongs on many of our cruises on S class ships. They will be printed in the dailies. These are very popular and very well attended.

I was wondering how the weather is at sea on the way to Bermuda. Is it warm enough in June to spend the day on deck?

Yes, the pool deck was full of people on the sea days and that was late May/early June. So I am sure going forward, the the temperature will be even warmer.

Ok...Sorry to everyone.   For some reason, after my first post, I was unable to access cruise critic in a way that I could answer you all...Let me try now that I am home...Some rooms were ready, some not, when we boarded..We just dropped our carryon bag off, and went to lunch. Footstools on our concierge balcony by the way.   It was the typical crowded Oceanview lunch on day 1, but we were able to find seating. Seating is truly an issue on this day, as well as sea days. If folks would share tables a little better, it would be nice.. Those who finish lunch and decide to sit there and chat or play cards, need to show a bit more concern for those walking around looking to sit.  We don't go to the Elite lunch in MDR, as it is limited menu, but many do.  Oceanview had a different theme each day as far as the type of cuisine offered. One day mexican, one day mediterranean, one greek, one Italian, etc..Honestly, plenty of choices..Once finished we went back and our room was completely finished by 2pm..Only thing that was not done at first was we had no towels, as everything else was done.  Ship overall is in good shape, although others we overheard did not think so.  It is overdue for refurbishment, but it is coming, not sure when.  It has already been pushed back according to crew.  Truly nothing that would stop us from getting right back on..Like I said earlier, need some paint over the rust spots,  power washing the decks, some fresh stain on the pool towel station, replace some worn chairs and cushions, and update the many stained and worn carpets.  Others might have seen different than me, but I wasn't examining like some do.  No sewage issues for us, although I did hear what I thought was the line being snaked, yesterday.  Crew was excellent..Friendly, helpful, diligent, always cleaning... I did however notice a big difference btwn this ship and our 4 recent cruises on Silhouette, and Beyond. Those newer ships had plenty of help..Bar staff in particular, was often shorthanded. The guys that were working had their hands full..You just stood there and waited, understanding the situation.  Heard a few grumbles but nothing crazy.  Asked our room attendant, and he told me that the housekeeping staff was less 50 people, and the rest pick up the additional work.  He said he and others are very tired with the extra workload.  Longer days for them..Plenty of White shirts though, pointing fingers, and some actually lending a hand..Bravo to them. Don't forget where you came from..Now to the entertainment.  Get on line, and you will get a seat. Crowded..Seat savers were not looked upon nicely. Good comedian, great Neil Diamond singer, and I thought the others to be just ok.  Mind you I'm not a cabaret, or performers production show person.  Did the 3nt specialty dining package. Tuscan, Murano, Sushi on 5..All were very good..Beautiful woman, named Abigail in the gelato/al Bacio area.  She ranked number 1, on our favorite crew list.  Alright now the pool and solarium story. Snooze you lose..All sorts of chair savers.  All kinds of chair saving tactics.  Books, bags, towel clips, bands holding the towels, water bottles.  Pretty much anything to save a chair, and come back whenever they were done doing whatever else they were doing.  Some unhappy folks about this going on..Solarium should be called The Sleeplarium.. Wake up, go to solarium, and sleep half the day.  Good luck at either place on sea days..Casino was crowded at night..Newer machines, but costlier per spin to play..Did see a few people hit small jackpots...So not that many kids on this trip, although school is still in session for most..Average age 60 and above for sure...I only wish that people would show a bit more concern for those that are in wheelchairs, walking with walkers or canes, etc..Seems like that doesn't matter to alot of folks..Most do, but many do not...Lastly..Easy on and off the ship...Any other questions I can now answer...Hope this helps

We were on this cruise too. Had a great time and nothing major to complain about.  We all had a few laughs at various bars with the bartenders as the ship had no ginger beer.  We were told it was a logistics problem. Really, a cruise to Bermuda with no dark and stormy? A few cases made it on the last port day.
I would go again on Eclipse any time.

Great, Thanks

Can't explain why it happened, as I was able to do the initial post without an issue.. My first attempt at a LIVE, that went dead....

Someone asked about the sing alongs....Abba, Queen, were a hit..Many people singing and dancing, with the Beatles surprisingly not attracting as many folks..It was fun to join in...It's all about playing songs that fit the average age group of the cruisers....

Did you have the Basic wifi?   Many report that you have a hard time connecting to CruiseCritic due to the amount of cookies underlying data requirements.

I was on the May 19-26 sailing and the seas were calm all the way to Bermuda, although it was quite cool and most stayed inside the 1st day out. By the 2nd day, temps had warmed up and everyone outside . Last year at almost the exact same timeframe, the seas were extremely rough the 1st day out, among the worst I've experienced in over  40 cruises. On both cruises, Bermuda itself was quite warm and sunny. I chose May because it would be too hot for me from June to Sept. Weather is always somewhat unpredictable, of course.

Yes Jim.  We went to the I lounge and it was closed.  Sign said go to photo shop area.  Nice guy there set us up..I actually asked him if I would be able to get on cruise critic and he said yes. Should've tried it right then.  When I did try and did not succeed, frustration took over, and I gave up.  Thus the end to my Live.  Too much other good stuff to do...With that in mind, I will remember and question them on next trip...

Mother Nature is a bit unsettled at this time...We didn't have the greatest weather on the way to Bermuda..People braved it on the pool deck.  Some used towels when getting out of hot tub, while others used them as a blanket.  First 2 days in Bermuda were nice, last day rain early then sun...Bring a light jacket or sweater just in case...Weather will be getting warmer

Thank you for re-joining us to answer questions!

Did you go to the comedy shows, seperate from the ones on the theater? How were they?

Do you have any daily schedules you could shares?

Do they make omelets in the oceanview cafe for breakfast? Do you happen know if they use egg powder? 😖

It's interesting about the chair hogs, especially in the solarium. On my last RC cruise, the pool staff had cards they put out on chairs that they saw were unoccupied with the time written on it. If you weren't back in a half hour, your belongings were removed and the chair was open to other people.

I'm not sure how I feel about that or how well it worked.

We went to see the comedian for both of his shows in the theater...He was very good, and not too dirty at the adult only show..Oceanview has an omelet station, and a poached egg/benedict station..Don't know about powdered eggs, but they had a tray of scrambled...Looked real, but still don't know the answer.  Solarium was a weather hiding spot on this cruise.  Not overly sunny on way down, so people sought the warmer inside. We are just amazed how many people sleep in there, for hours...Did not witness any removals of belongings, but I'm sure folks complained.  Again if you get up early, you will get a spot.  Sleep in and you will be walking around with your mouth open, shaking your head, like we often saw..Inside or outside...Lucky to have one daily, as the wife had it in her back pocket, when she went to do the laundry..

Thanks for that.

A huge pet peeve on all cruise lines is the reserving of chairs. I really believe the staff should be policing that and removing the stuff if folks are not there for 30 minutes.

Went to do the laundry??

My wife found the daily sheet in her back pocket when she went to do the laundry...Honestly 15 mins should be the limit, and it should be monitored.  The first 2 days in Bermuda, turned out to be  the best days to get some sun on pool/resort deck..We were at the pool by 8:30...Everybody gets off the ship, and us and maybe 30 others, enjoyed the pools, and hot tubs...As well as awesome bar service..Solarium was empty pretty much also...So we had the pick of many loungers, yet there were still a couple of chair savers in prime locations.. 4 loungers near us with bands holding the towels in place, were unoccupied for 3 hrs..When we left for lunch, one person was there...Not that it was crowded, but still Amazing the feeling of entitlement...

That frustrates me so much! It's times like those that I want to take the stuff off the chair just to prove a point but I know it won't make a difference.

Thank you so much for answering my questions and posting the daily sheet.

🙂
