I have to cancel....

Recommended Posts

Greetings all.  I would appreciate any insight.  Here is the situation:

I received a free cruise from Casino Royale on my last cruise with $750 Free Play.  I then received another promotion for another cruise and was able to make them B2B.  I only paid taxes, fees, insurance and gratuity.  We were set to Sail on our 9 day on August 15 and then set to sail on August 24 (5 Day).

Enter into the equation:  LIFE...my husband was just diagnosed with Stage 2 Prostate Cancer.  We are positive and feeling good, but his treatment journey will not be discussed until July and we want to keep as much of his leave as possible.  So, painfully, we think it best to cancel both.

Here are my questions:

Do you think we could move them to a different date?  Could I still get my $750

How much could we possibly expect to get back, if anything, with such late notice?

Any Suggestions?

Thank you and please keep us in your prayers and thoughts.

You should get back everything. They may not give you a substitute date and you will likely loose your free play. You can only keep it if your instant reward certificate is not expired and you can select a different cruise with it. They are typically pretty strict with them.

I am so sorry to hear of your husband’s diagnosis.  Life is a gift, so fight for every day.  Up to the day before your cruise you will receive the taxes and port fees. Hopefully your husband will feel well to enjoy your cruise.  Please keep us updated.

You receive taxes/fees, gratuities, cruise planner purchase refunds even for a no show.

Good luck to your husband. I would call Casino Royale and ask them, but most likely you will not be able to move/keep your Free Play. But I always suggest calling them.

While this is true, the Casino is losing the full cruise fare at that point, so there is nothing to rebook.

I have found Casino booked cruises have their own set of rules.  They can sometimes do things that defy the normal well known rules.  In some cases it depends if the casino promotion is still in effect.   Call and ask.

I'm so sorry to hear this. My cousin went thru this and had his removed.,he said it took a year to recover so he could go normally.

I was just with a friend a few weeks ago and I didnt hear until I was leaving he is a 100% disabled vet from agent orange and not having the cancer removed or chemo. Idk why his decision, it was mentioned just as i was leaving. When i get settled from moving im calling but this isnt going to be a easy solution. I feel so bad from hearing how hard recovery was for my cousin.

I'm more worried about your cousin than you losing your free play, taxes and fees are refunded.i wish your husband the best and a good solution. I can only imagine how worried you are.

Thank you all for your insight.  I plan on giving Casino Royale a call to hear our options.  My husband wants go on another cruise...but August may be too soon.  So, I'll listen to my options.  I will report back to let you know what they say.  Thank you for your kind words and your insight.  It is appreciated.

There is no need to decide now.  You could wait until after July, when you'll have more information on what lies ahead.  Perhaps it will be possible to still take that Aug. B2B cruise.

If you have to cancel then, you'll still get back the same things you'd get by canceling now.

Best of luck to you and your husband.

Good luck to you and your husband.  Just as an FYI, my husband was diagnosed with prostate cancer in April of 2018.  We had a family cruise scheduled for later that month and Dr told us to go and have a good time.  In May went to MD Anderson in Houston, put on a 6 month clinical trial and had surgery in November of 2018.  His gleason score was a 7 (survivors will know what that is).  Made a full recovery 6-8 weeks.

I was diagnosed with DCIS breast cancer in November 2019(very early diagnosis) and left on a family cruise the next day and actually managed to not worry about it for a week.

You may want to consider waiting to cancel until after you meet with your Dr before you cancel.  Everyone is different and everyone’s recovery time is certainly different.

Best of luck to you, it is a club no one wants to join.

Call Casino Royale and ask your questions.

Thank you.  That was always the plan.  I just wanted to get some insight on what my response may be.  I plan to call this weekend.

Thank you so much and I'm so glad that your husband made a full recovery.  I hope you too have a full recovery.  We are very positive and I plan on calling this weekend.
