Nobody is irreplaceable, the customer isn't always right, and frankly some need to be fired.

If multiple visits make more profits I say do it.  But for those that take advantage of the offers and no longer gamble then the offers should stop. I think this is happening.  We still gamble plenty and offers have only increased but I have heard from others whose offers are no longer what they were.

Casinos are part of the business.  And the captive casino only helps cruise lines as the payouts are not like land based casinos. 
 

Totally agree that some customers should be fired.  Many, both gamblers and non-gamblers make no money for the cruise line.  Those need to be fired.  Which brings us full circle back to the elimination of this perk.  If it’s not making money then they absolutely should kill it.

Yep. Just a part. And there is no competition at sea.

 

Some want to cherry pick and say XYZ cruise line has better offers than ABC casinos. So what? XYZ has a better loyalty program. So what? Carnival has chosen not to compete on largesse. They want cruisers who like the brand. And it makes sense not to get in a bidding war. Let the other cruise lines give away the profits.

I guess they MUST be giving it all away... since Covid, the share price of CCL is about a THIRD of what it was before (Covid). RCL has fully recovered, and then some.

I wish Carnival would stop giving it all away. Even more, I wish I had bought into RCL instead of CCL. I keep waiting for CCL to pull out of the slump... I'm hanging in there - and just booked 9 cabins for our office cruise next year on the Mardi Gras. It's a great product, and we'll have a blast.

RCL SELLS cabins at above market rates on ships with many gimmicks. How long can they sustain that? Probably not forever.

Carnival has chosen not to compete on largesse because they think it produces less profit.

 

They want cruisers that produce the most profit, and they don't care one bit whether you like the brand at all - just whether you hand them cash.

 

They don't care about passengers, and it isn't a philosophy - it's just what their data says currently extracts the most benefit to Carnival for the lowest cost to Carnival.

Actually, our office cruise this year was on MSC. We had a nice time, and all of the staff had a beverage package included with their booking. From their perspective, a much better value - as with the Mardi Gras, they're going to have to either pony up for CHEERS or pay as they go.

No offense just hard perhaps to relate to those with unlimited funds and availability to travel,  I hope your office enjoys the Marti Gras and finds it not as raunchy and loud as we found our last Carnival cruise,  After a somewhat reprise on Carnival we are going to try the Firenze from the west coast hoping the crowd there is more tasteful and controlled, It will be interesting to see,  We enjoy the Carnival product but crowd has gotten out of hand, Enjoy your cruise,

Ok - I'm just accustomed to assuming that when someone calls you an elitist, the intent is usually not positive. Also, not sure where you get the idea that I have "unlimited funds and availability to travel". I'm still employed (I have no choice - didn't get into my career until nearly 40 years of age, and can't retire). I do have control of my work schedule, and travel when we can, but it's way less than we'd like to. I try to take about a week off every 2-3 months or so. Rarely am I able to get away for much longer - which means many travel options (Europe, etc) are off the table for now.

 

I hope you have a good time on the Firenze - I haven't really followed the (new to Carnival ships), but it looks interesting.

The $25.00 credit was because the casino stopped doing the slot tournaments. I believe that since they have stopped the credit then they should bring back the tournament. I have seen many things change on our cruises like if you want your gifts, you have to run all over the ship asking for them. They use to be delivered to our room. 

 

Some of us, including me, can't walk all over the ship so we are sol. My old brain can't think of the others but they are there and it seems to me that when the changes do happen, it becomes our job to partake. 

 

I like Carnival. I am a shareholder but I am disappointed in the changes I see. I will not cruise as much but I will cruise.

As someone who also has a lot of vacation - it's important to remember it isn't the norm.

 

A week every 2-3 months is 20-30 days a year.

At 20 days, you're probably looking at top 10%.

 

At 30 days, probably top 1-2%.
