Current Rising tide bar/teen policy

Did do a search, nothing popped up. Can’t find info on the policy re minors on the rising tide 

 

We’ve cruised on the allure before.  the Mr enjoys a pre dinner drink at rising tide at least once a cruise

 

this go round have our young teen GD with us.  we aren’t the sorts to drag a kid to bar in the real world.   Cruising a different environment, lots of flowing alcohol throughout the ship.

 

Was thinking to go early & grab non-bar seats & have a quick one. She can use her refreshment pkg while instagraming away.

 

note no (grand) parenting advice needed.  I’m old school, don’t let her out of my sight on cruises. Will just skip it if it’s a no-no.

We have notices a lot of kids on the Rising Tide recently.  I am sure it is fine.

I'm no expert on the policy but have seen minors on here several times. No one seemed to mind at all. Enjoy your cruise/

I’ve had many teens on cruises, their absolutely favorite part was going to the teen club the first night, finding friends, and then hanging out with them. Breakfast and dinner as a family, free to go in between, off ship with the family and usually shows, then we go back to the cabin and they get back by curfew. They’d keep in touch after the cruise.

My DSs were never a fan of the clubs, even the DCL ones. I gave up.  They are far apart in age, always in different categories/age groups. 
 

Do Think they’d like it more if they had a friend along or cousin etc.  never worked out tho
 

tried with GD when a few years old, another resounding no thank you 

 

she would live on wave rider if they let her lol  

 

has fun hanging with the sporty crowd to do BB, water slides etc  during the day.

 

She’s a competitive athlete like my DSs were.  Track, cheer, gymnastics, volleyball & BB, so she’s used to being active & trains year round 
 

will have me up on deck early every am so she can get at least 5 miles in on track lol 
 

a gym rat, enjoyed the one on the Indy. They had no issue with her using equipment after she showed she knew her stuff, as long as I was in general area. 

 

that’s the great thing about cruising, something for everyone!

My kids didn’t like the clubs really either (especially the tween club) but would go just to meet people. On our last cruise they were 14, 14, 16, 19 and 20, the 3 youngest all found different groups (strange because they’re so close at home and share friend groups), and the 2 oldest made it their mission to me others and form a group. I think it’s like an activity for them.

It depends on the Cruise Director. I've seen kids turned away on one sailing and then allowed on that same ship one year later.

 

Personally, I feel that it's not appropriate for anyone not drinking to be on it. It's a bar, not a ride. If you want to go up and down, take an elevator. It goes much higher, too.

I get your sentiment.  Moonlighted in the industry back in the day.  However, we did buy her a “drink package”.  The Mr. & I both have the same one on our accounts.  prefer to pay as we go/add a shot when it comes alcohol as neither can do justice to the # of drinks on the deluxe pkg.

Bringing one minor on the Rising Tide should be fine. However, seating is very limited and I’ve seen people bring a gaggle of kids who take up a lot of the seats and are restless. Probably not the best idea to do that.

I brought my kid a few times, but only if there were plenty of seats. Just like any bar, on or off a ship, I don't think kids should sit AT the bar, but the tables or areas around the bar are open game on a ship... which is why I think Rising tide is fine since there is no actual bar to sit at.

It's literally called the "Rising Tide Bar." The whole thing is a bar. And for the record:

 

Age Restriction

21+ on sailings from North America, 18+ on sailings from South America, Europe, Asia, Australia and New Zealand.

 

Obviously, it's not enforced.

Given that reasoning, I guess they shouldn't allow kids in Playmakers "Bar" & Arcade too. For the record, it also lists the same:

 

AGE RESTRICTION

21+ on sailings from North America, 18+ on sailings from South America, Europe, Asia, Australia and New Zealand.

 

Clearly the listed age restriction is only in reference to consuming alcoholic beverages.

Yes the restrictions are only in relation to consuming alcohol.

 

We discovered this whilst at the bar for a pre dinner drink with our son in Boleros on Anthem out of New York last year (the culture surrounding bars/pubs is different here in the UK so quite normal for us).

 

Another passenger questioned this with the servers and we were fine with that. Whilst we are British we choose to cruise an American line, and in this instance one departing from the States, so being respectful we sat down at a table but the staff member stated the only RCI bar restriction with children, apart from obviously not consuming alcohol, was being present in the casino bar.

But it has that same disclaimer...which is just in regards to alcohol service. The whole Schooner bar is a bar, as well... are kids not allowed in there??

No, not at the bar. The seats surrounding the bar are fine.

That's for drinking alcohol, not who is in a bar. Any age can be in a bar. I know people are writing that kids can't sit at the bar, but I've certainly seen that, too.

Ok, well that's the same as Rising tide... there is no physical bar to sit at, it's all tables. So the same rule applies. I'm with you that kids shouldn't be hanging AT a bar, but the lounge areas around the bar should be fine on a ship, and rising tide is all lounge, no bar... I DO think since it's such limited space that maybe they shouldn't be allowed by themselves or if it's packed, but if there's a table and a dad and kid sit there and each order a drink of some kind, I don't see the problem.  I love your Jerky boys name and pic, by the way...lol.

The rules and application of the rules do have to allow some flexibility.  There is food/snacks in some of the bars, trivia (including some more younger focused like Star Wars and Harry Potter) at many bars and other entertainment that a family might come to enjoy.  Therefore a complete restriction on anyone under 21/18 will not likely be applied. Playmakers is probably the most "family oriented" bar in the fleet.  Some venues will not be quite as family friendly, but as long as the group is primarily adults/family and not causing an issue it will likely be allowed.  When entry is actually banned, or age restrictions enforced, like the comedy show, the staff will not give any leeway.

What do all bar areas have in common? Kids are not allowed at the high-top chairs. The other seats are a common area. The Rising Tide bar has all hightops. It was never intended for children.

Are you talking about on-board RCCL or bars in general (land or sea base)?  Windjammer is most certainly a bar and has couches and seats that are not in a "common" area.  Whereas the the pub is a bar, but the seating outside along the the promenade I would consider to be in a common area.

 

Back to the original question.  If it is not crowed and only one or two kids who order a drink and ride up and down once or twice, I don't see the harm.

Children are apparently allowed to sit anywhere including bar stools, I personally think they are too family friendly. This is one of the reasons I love my music charter on celebrity since it’s adult only.
