Voyagers Club customer service is no use

It seems like email is the only way to reach Voyagers Club customer service but they don't respond to my email.  It been 5 days and there is absolutely no response. I booked a cruise and I got the Voyagers Club number. However, I made a mistake of reversing my first name and last name when I created an online account. Now I can't add the Voyagers Club number or my booking number to my online account because the name doesn't match.  I called the customer service but they said I have to email.

Does anyone have any suggestion how to handle this? Thank you.

you're right, they are terrible.  I finally gave up after emailing them three months ago and following up with 5 emails.  No response at all

As you know you cannot call them, you mailed them and have to wait. Sometimes they react, sometimes not. Five days is not really long.

It sometimes takes MSC several days, or months, to correct these types of issues.

Since you don't have any Voyagers history to lose, if you have an alternate email that your willing to use you can just create another online account (with the correct name) and use that new online account to link the booking and Voyagers numbers.

If you choose this route I'd advise you go back and change the information in the old account to something unrelated to your real information.

I've had only two occasions where I had to contact the VC customer service.  Each time involved missing points for a just completed cruise.  Had to contact them by email as you stated above.  For each occurrence I received a reply within 48 hours, and for each occurrence the problem was resolved.  Don't know why you're having a problem.

you really don't feel like 5 days is not long?  That is a terrible response time

Voyagers Club customer service finally responded and resolved the issue. I am just glad I am not departing right away.  It is bad they don't offer phone customer service to help people who need timely help with Voyagers Club related issues.  It seems like some people wait a long time to get a response and some get helped fairly quickly. I guess it is all about luck.

My husband just did the same thing 15 minutes ago.  He was setting up his account since we log in for check in tomorrow.

We called and were told it would take 5+ days to correct it.  Or we could just set up with a new email address.  He has 3 email addresses so he used a less checked email and all is now working and his reservation now works.

Does spending in restaurants count as onboard spending or do you need to buy things in the shops to qualify?

If you mean, can you use onboard credit to pay for specialty restaurants, yes you can. Generally, anything that would be charged to your onboard account can use onboard credit.

If you want to continue this topic, I'd suggest starting another thread.

Just to add to why the diminished perks and service. From an analytics consultancy " Using Data analytics, financial modeling and consumer surveys to analyze the effectiveness of Loyalty Programs. The relationship between customer behavior and profitability found some distortions in the Loyalty Program. The way customers were using the program meant the highest spending and longest term customers weren't always getting rewarded proportionately for their value at the same time other customers that were earning rewards passively without spending enough to make it profitable for the business."

This data analysis indicates that loyalty programs are rewarding the least profitable guests..

I just wanted to know if spending in restaurants counts toward my Voyager Club points as I'm seeking to get to Silver.  I have no points for onboard spending on the Seashore in May, even though I spent way more this time around than I did on last year's cruise on the Seaside (onboard credit only) but it's not reflected in my account.  I didn't have any onboard credit this year so I paid for everything with a card.  I'm wondering if using onboard credit was why it counted last year.   I'm going back and forth with MSC on it and wanted to know if I should give up trying if it doesn't count.  There's no need for another thread if I can just get a yes or no answer.

I thought points were only earned based on room category and number of nights per cruise.  I'm not sure you earn points for on board spending.  If so, this is new to me but a welcome little tid bit of information.

I've included a shot of what I'm talking about.  Notice the category of on-board shopping is missing from this year's cruise.  I didn't really spend much last year but got 500 points for on-board shopping.  I actually spent real money this time and got nothing for it toward VC.  I hope this helps.

Per the MSC website.

"Onboard services prepaid before the cruise: you earn 100 points every 150 €/$ on expenses made before the cruise on MSC packages and services included in the cruise booked*.

Onboard expenses: you earn 100 points for every 150 €/$ spent on board, excluding casino expenses. Points for onboard expenses (including pre-boarding purchased shipboard credit) will only be assigned to the MSC Voyagers Club cardholder making the final payment."
*For currencies other than € euro, the currency conversion on purchase day will apply.

So according to this, I'm missing some points because MSC didn't count my restaurant spending. The only response I got was that what they calculated was correct.  I'm still waiting for an answer to my follow-up question whenever they get around to it.

They missed some onboard spending points after my recent cruise.  Emailed them.  They corrected this error in less than a week.
