Hi

First Celebrity and Edge cruise in November. I have read that some ports have a lounge at the port for Retreat guests to use prior to boarding, can anyone confirm if Sydney has this facility please.

Thanks

David

Hi, we were on an Edge cruise from Sydney in January. For us there was no lounge, in fact we didn't even have a separate Retreat check in experience at all. Other guests seemed to be escorted onboard but somehow we missed out. It still didn't take too long though to board.

Agree with the above posters. I don't remember a lounge. In Nov 2022, We just checked in and went through security and immigration and were on board.

Even if they had one, it’s not a place I’d want to hang out in unless I got there way too early.

We didn’t see a lounge.  We were taken to a curtained off area for check in and they were serving coffee, juice and maybe some small sandwiches.  We were there no more than 5 minutes and on to the ship.

We boarded there in March 2024 and also boarded again on a B2B the next cruise.  We never saw a retreat lounge, and it wasn’t mentioned either time.  We did enter the building through a retreat line, but merged with others as we approached the check in hall.  There were many short lines, and we did get funneled to one of 4 or 5 lines (seemed to be set up for Retreat)without having a wait.  Security followed with a short 5 minute line that was moving.

There seemed to be plenty of staff available to direct and answer questions, so perhaps there was no need to direct passengers to the Retreat lounge, but again, we missed it if there was one.

In Seattle, the Edge has a smallish Retreat Lounge created with moveable wall panels.  The ship puts out in nice spread of continental breakfast/early lunch snacks for early arriving Retreat guests.  Once boarding begins for Retreat guests (around 10;45 AM), only a handful of later arriving Retreat guests will bother to stop in at the terminal's Retreat Lounge - most guests just want to get on board.

As for being escorted on board, that is just for the 14 upper suites (Iconic Suite; Royal Suite; Penthouse Suite, and the Edge Villas).  Guests in Sky Suites are not escorted to their staterooms (at least not from the Seattle terminal).

There is no lounge for Retreat guests in Sydney.   If in an upper suite - RS and above they will pull you out of the suites line and expedite your processing.   To be honest Sydney handles boarding rather quickly and the biggest delays will be security and Customs / Immigration.

One think I like most at Sydney is at the entrance to the terminal they have baggage handling staff open to receive bags around 8:30-9:00 AM.    They also have a sign that say.... Arrived early drop your bags and enjoy the rocks....

No retreat lounge but in March we dropped our luggage off around 0900 and were told to come back at 1045. When we arrived back we were sent directly through, checked in and through security and on the ship in a few minutes.
