Rare mauibabes Posted September 9 #2 Share Posted September 9 In my experience it is when the Port Security decides it is. They give the approval to the ship staff to release the passengers. Normally it has started at 8:00 and done by 9:00ish. Our worst experience, we were held up by port security in Miami and disembarkation did not start until 9:30. Depending where you are disembarking, domestic or international, it can be different everywhere. If you are trying to make flight arrangements, definitely book after noon, especially if flying internationally. Don’t add unnecessary anxiety to your travel days. Rare pinotlover Posted September 9 #3 Share Posted September 9 I read your post differently that Mauibabes since the question was imprecise. I usually use a 30 minute differential from docking time to private tour pickup time by our guide. The other half of the question.

IWantToLiveOverTheSea Posted September 11 #9 Share Posted September 11 I usually won't book a flight until at least noon or maybe 1 PM if the ship's official arrival time is scheduled to be 8 AM. There could be weather issues, though we've had few of those on disembark days in the past. There could be port & immigration clearance issues. The airport could want or require you to be there 2 to 3 hours pre-flight. The port may be far away, or the traffic may be horrible, or the taxis few, or part of the city may be closed due to a major event.

There are quite a few interesting things to do and see within a short ride/drive from the airport and it takes a lot of stress away. Someone a little more ambitious will need to chime in on same day flight times.
alcpa1 Posted September 11 #11 Share Posted September 11 We just disembarked again from Southampton last week. We traveled on Tuesday and traffic was unusually light. We were lucky!!!!! We've had it worse. We had a private driver and our flight was a little before two. We were at the airport by 10:30. Our gate was not posted until an hour before the flight and LHR has many long corridors in terminal 3. So be aware. We've also cruised to Bermuda three times from different originating ports. We cleared within 1/2 to 3/4 hours after docking. Your time may vary. If you have a private tour booked your guide/driver will be aware of your arrival like they are in every port we have visited in many years of sailing. Redtravel Posted September 14 #16 Share Posted September 14 Be careful. Sometimes ships get delayed arriving in a port. Things happen. 2 weeks ago, we were to disembark in Boston. Ship was scheduled to arrive at 7 am. It was late. Why? It was a nice dry day with calm seas. We had to get out of cabin by 8, go to the show lounge at 9 and wait. Crowded, waiting to get called to walk back to the dining room to get cleared by US customs before disembarking. Each place we went, there were long lines and people checking. You couldn’t disembark until passport was stamped. This too a long time. Got to airport at 11.

And I just disembarked at Boston and could have made a 10am flight. Of course we did the passport check the day before as we had an overnight there. MEFIowa Posted yesterday at 12:30 AM #20 Share Posted yesterday at 12:30 AM For the ports where we get a great pier location and can just walk right off the ship into the city/area, it can pay to be down at the gangplank as they are getting it ready. We docked in Helsinki off Sirena earlier this month. The Currents said we could get off the ship at 0800, but I wandered down about 0730. They saw me standing there and once it was set up they said, I could go. Looked at my watch and it was 0738. I was off and deep into downtown Helsinki by 0800.
