Did anyone end up using the Aadvantage Bag Check? Do you check them on the ship, or after you disembark?? If it's instead of the putting out in the hallway, that would be super! Totally forgot our ressies were with AA!

We didn't fly AA so I can't answer your question "for sure" but I will give it a try and hope that someone else can give you a definite answer. What it looked like to me was that you still had to get your bags off the ship (either carry them off or do the usual put out the night before routine) and then get them to the AA counter in the terminal and check them. But I do not know this for sure! This is just what it looked like to me. Hopefully someone actually used this service and can give you actual info.

Ahoy Mates!

After 19 hours of sleeping, I have finally awoke! My eyelids somehow will not open all the way, though I can only imagine why…either from the 7-day sleep deprivation or the lack of alcohol content in my body and the Visine is NOT helping! Plus, for some reason, I continued to have nightmares of Ken Mush with his 2 accomplices over my bed, demanding a shot! Strange but somehow, this triggers a time of reality on the ship…I think! lol

My Tips for the Drinkers!

As for anyone planning to board the Freedom, all I can say is if you plan on partying most of the time…Do NOT sleep in the bed…sleep on the sofa or the floor! ;) The bed will want to consume you for more than 4 hours and after the 4 hours you will dry up and waste all our your alcohol consumption! Also, make sure when you request your wake up call…ask a few of your bar hopping and casino friends to act as a back up snooze button. This will ensure you keep your drinking priorities in check! The bar servers and bartenders (more on who later) are very gracious in helping you catch up in the event the comfort of the bed lures you in!

If you had a late night of partying and plan to begin antidotes immediately, once in your cabin, be careful of the bathroom faucet. Especially if you include alka seltzer in your war against the ‘Non Duty Free’ Hangover! Somehow, 2 mornings we awoke to find our toilet paper drenched. Apparently, I flipped the handle in full force in trying to retain the water in the glasses! All I know is we successfully consumed our alka seltzer, which was all good but we were greeted with soggy TP in the morning! Our cabin attendant was able to remedy this for us after the first time by ensuring we always had 2 extra rolls in hand (literally)! Thank you Enrique!

As for bartenders….give our best to Nevil and Ernie in Olive or Twist! These gentlemen somehow managed to break the 2 hour record on making the most Captain & Cokes for my DH, which in return caused very satisfying times, numerous times throughout the ship! As I said earlier, the bed is only there to suck you in…Stay Away Fellow Drinkers! ;)

We had a FANTASTIC time and walked away BLESSED with such Great Memories and Friendships! I have a longing inside and miss so many of you! All I can say is…we ABSOLUTELY MUST do this again! :) THANK YOU FOR SUCH GREAT MEMORIES…even the ones we cannot remember, but I am sure are on camera, somewhere!

HATS OFF to RC and Jamaica for the Complimentary Booze, the Shaggy concert, and the Awesome Support of the Band, standing while playing Star Spangled Banner, as we left port! We Love You Jamaica! Best of all, each of these times mentioned above, I remember standing and/or dancing beside somebody who is now very much part of the real in our life!

Ernie, Great Picture of EVERYONE! I know I took a few ‘off’ ones with your camera…but what a laugh it was and actually still is! (A Special Sweat Beltin` SMOOCH for Yah! :p )

I trust everyone has made it home safe! Also, a BIG THANK YOU to Frank for all of the Goodies he supplied us with AND the Attempted Goodies we spoke of during our bus excursion~ indeed it's the thought that counts~lmao!

Troy & Cindy,

Your post just made me spit out my diet coke - almost on my keyboard. Shame on you! :P

Sound like you had a blast - that's how it should be!! Thanks for the tongue-in-cheek look at cruising with alcohol. I'll be finding out in 9 months and 5 days!

I can't wait....Only 41 more days....Until me and my some of my family (22 of us to be exact) take board on this FOS. How is the night life on the ship? Can't wait to see one of the shows, but most importantly looking forward to having my fair share of drinks with family and new friends!!!

Nope, Friday night was Lobster night. :)

I just go to the dining room and eat. Maybe one of the more sober people can update you on the specifics of the menus.

The only thing our table was disappointed in during the entire week was the creme brulee...it was runny and unedible. Since I don't eat coconut (and it was some coconut variety), I had the chocolate banana creme pie and it was DELISH!!!

Tracy, I know you said you LIKE to tender, but do you know(for our parents sake who are in their 70's) if you have Cozumel excursion tickets, do you go on a separate ferry or is your excursion ticket your tender ticket, too? We took them on the Adventure in 2003 on the Southern Carib route and we docked at all 5 ports so they are spoiled Also, do any of your sober friends. . .lol. . .have copies of the dining room menus(some of us like to scope out the choices in advance? Sounds like your group had a GREAT time!

I think they ferry you if you are doing the Tulum excursion, because you have to go to the big island. I think others, you take the tenders in...but they contract those huge local tenders that may as well be ferries.

Will ask around about any foodies who may have photo'd the menus and stuff.

Well folks we are back as you can tell and it is WAY TOO SOON...it should have been a 2 week cruise. I actually did the FLOW RIDER and what a ride I had ...did great on the first try. ! I am already missing all the great friends I have met from the PBS and others on the ship. I am so glad I am going again on Freedom Sept 10th.

The jamaican reception was OUT OF THIS WORLD ...a red carpet was rolled out for our arrival and all the dignataries were there as well then the "SHAGGY" concert to top it off !!!! WOW

PINK POWER !!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks so much, Tracy. I have a daughter named Tracy who will be 21 on Father's Day! One of our family mottos is "We are happy when we eat" so you can see why I like knowing the menus in advance. You have been very informative on all of your posts.

Hey ski, Will you scan your compasses and post so we can copy for our sailing?

I do have all of the compasses but don't know how to post them. Hopefully someone else will be able to do this. Anyone out there planning on doing this?????? If not, I do have a friend that can do it for us. I bet someone else is already planning on doing this though. If so....fantastic. If no one does it though, I will get my friend to help me....it just will take a few days or so depending on her schedule. So if anyone out there is planning on doing it please speak up.

Renee....I am so sorry I went all week without paying you for the beautiful piece of art....our poem! It is such a treasure! Mr. Ski immediately went to the cabin steward and had him get us cardboard to protect it so we could get it home and he gave me instructions to go get it framed quickly. Will have to put that on my "to do list". Anyway......how much do I owe you for this? You did a fantastic job on it. Please let me know the amount and email your address to me so I can get payment sent immediately! I am so sorry I neglected to do that last week. I kept meaning to do it and we were just having so much fun that I would think of it and then it would slip my mind!!!!

The pins if I am not mistaken were from RC only the frame was from C&A

My gifts had a note with them. It was an invitation to the C&A party on Tuesday night! ROFL I was tempted to bring it down to the pursar and ask if that meant I was staying onboard for another week! :)

Congratulations to Flamingo Legs! He was the winner of the very first Sexy Legs competition on board the Freedom of the Seas. My wife and I were please to be eating dinner every night with the champ. I actually saw the legs, very deserving! Patrick, it was a pleasure spending time at dinner with you and your wife along with Rob and his sister. I would say our best dinner group yet. Thanks guys.

Hi Dave and Lisa,

Thanks for the congratulations. The winning of "Mr. Flamingo Legs" was a culmination of a life long dream...well, a month long dream anyway.

Janice and I enjoyed your company too, as well as Janelle's. Heck after a couple of glasses of wine, Rob wasn't so bad either.

I am glad to see you on the post, it can be addicting. I would have answered earlier, but they are making me "work" today.

Say "Hi" to Lisa,

Patrick (and Janice)

Island lady,

I too was booked on deck 10 and figured out the windjammer was over our balcony. I called and changed rooms as I don't want it to be shaded or obstructed in any way. With that spa being somehting new, I doubt anyone will know how it affects your view and or sun exposure.

I am sure if you call them they will switch it. They did ours. We ended up getting a GREAT room on the "hump", which is suppose to be really nice on deck 9.

Good luck !

Sue

Thank Sue! :)

I still have time to decide. I am trying to figure out from the photos if those balcony rooms protrude out just under that new whirlpool. If so, it would be nice to have the bigger balcony. I will get enough sun on the islands and on deck. Sometimes the shade is a good thing with tropical drink in hand...makes the ice last longer during sunset sail away!

Cheers!

Hey Maiden Voyage Cruisers! If you have the compasses like skiiergirl most cruise critic members scan them and post them at http://www.cruiseclues.com

There is a massive website of photos, daily planners, packing lists, thread links, reviews and you name it. I assume they cooperate with cc since they link so much info back to here. I REALLY appreciate your time to post info for all of us who follow in your Freedom Footsteps!

Hi,

The balconies under the hot tubs do protrude out a hair, but the difference between that balcony and a regular one would be negligible. If one of these rooms cost more, I would go with a regular balcony.

Ok guys, surely someone had to spend some quality time at " On Air". How was it? How were the song selections? I heard that there is some sort of like a gong show that they do? Is it true? Thanks.

Thanks to all of the cruisers that took time out of their cruise to give us updates, it was great and informative. I am looking forward to my cruise even more than ever.

Hi,

I am in the same boat as Skiergirl and never really went to Studio B and was hoping someone else could help you out. It is located just outside of the ice skating rink and I did stop there once briefly to listen to three teenagers sing an "In Sync" song. It was kind of like seeing a train wreck, it was horrific, but somehow you just have to look.

I think I remember seeing somwhere that you can make your own music videos there (for a fee no doubt). As far as their playlist, I would imagine since they a catering to young and old, it is probably pretty extensive.

I hope this helps. I am sure no one was ignoring you, I just don't think any of us made it there.

Hi Ski,

It was a pleasure to meet you and Mr Ski. :)

Not to worry, you don't owe me a thing for framing of the poem. It was a gift to the group from Blake and I. It makes me happy the poem did turn out to be a work of art.
