Luke gs Daddy Posted December 14, 2010 #1784 Share Posted December 14, 2010 We had reservations at the Marriott Resort that was booked directly with Marriott. I kept seeing people get it for a lot less than 740.00 for 2 nights pre-cruise in April through PL and HW. I was very cautious and went ahead and bid for the Hotel this morning and got it for 135.00 per night!:D Even if it will be a non ocean view it saved us over $ 400.
Lorey2007 Posted December 15, 2010 #1785 Share Posted December 15, 2010 Even if it will be a non ocean view it saved us over $ 400.00 I have read on this thread that you can upgrade to a ocean view room for $25 a night. We will give it a try in January.
vagabonder1 Posted December 20, 2010 #1786 Share Posted December 20, 2010 Just reserved last night on Priceline for 1/1/10 (yeah, I procrastinated! lol) 4 stars starting bid $90. Caribe Hilton accepted on first bid (now I kinda wish I started at $85!) We stayed there 2yrs ago and really enjoyed ourselves. Having learned form experience (and reviews) we will be eating elsewhere and taking the bus into Old San Juan... if we make it past the beach and pool... My first bid ever with Priceline and I'm hooked! To book this room on any hotel booking site would run $225!
drakes2 Posted December 20, 2010 #1787 Share Posted December 20, 2010 We're also hooked on Priceline, I now bid for hotels all over the world at a fraction of the cost and save tons of money. I even walked a friend through all the steps and he won the Marriott Stellaris for the same nights as us as they are joining us on our upcoming cruise in a few weeks. We've stayed there a few years ago, pre cruise and would consider going back there for just a "land vacation". Loved the hotel!I stayed here last year pre-cruise and loved it, but I didn't use priceline because I wanted to make sure I had an oceanfront room. This year I would like to try priceline and get the Stelleris for a pre-cruise on March 19. What things should I be looking for to make sure I have the best chance of getting it? I'm totally new to priceline, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Ontario cruise duo Posted December 22, 2010 #1792 Share Posted December 22, 2010 Does anyone know of an internet site that I can look at to see the various hotels located near the Marriott Stellars Resort & Casino. I remember walking by some other nice hotels when we were there a few years ago but can't seem to remember their names? Any help would be appreciated!
drakes2 Posted December 22, 2010 #1793 Share Posted December 22, 2010 La Concha is very close to the Marriott Stellaris and is in fact a Marriott property. Difficult to get on Priceline though, it's classified as a 4 star and not sure, but may require a minimum 2 night stay. I have not seen it won much. I gave up trying. Oh well, this new one looks very nice:). I remember seeing it back in January and was surprised it was there. So now I will be staying there and I am sure it will be just fine:)

If that area has hotels ratinged BELOW 3.5 than that would be considered a free zone. Because if you bid for 3.5 the area (like Aquadilla) doesn't have anything higher than 3 stars so it couldn't possibly award you a 3.5 star hotel and therefore your rebid offer would default back to SJ. So Cabo Rojo, Humacao, Aquadilla, Ponce all would be valid re-bids. DO NOT USE RIO GRANDE BECAUSE IT ONLY HAS RESORTS AND THEY ARE HIGHER THAN A 3.5 STAR (even though it is listed below the 1 star) You want to choose re-bid zones that ONLY have hotels LOWER than the star rate you are bidding on. Hope this helps. Edited December 24, 2010 by curlyd

curlyd Posted December 24, 2010 #1800 Share Posted December 24, 2010 (edited) Understand exactly what you're saying but when I look at the Priceline retail site I see a 3.5*+ in Ponce so maybe Ponce is not a free re-bid. I looked again, and when I choose only Ponce it show only 3 start and lower. Are you sure you only clicked on Ponce? By selecting each one separately you can make a list of which areas have what start choices. Then when you actually bid you will always start with SJ 3.5, and with each re-bid choose one of the areas you already know have 3 stars or less. I assume you are looking at the "name your own price" site. Because that is the site that will show you each area's star ratings for bidding. I wasn't sure what you meant by the Priceline Retail site. Edited December 24, 2010 by curlyd
