yst347 Posted November 5, 2006 #51 Share Posted November 5, 2006 That's a rather unfair statement. It happens on many ships....not Just Conquest. Sorry to hear that. It's a tragedy on any ship. Whether fair or unfair is in the eye of the individual. It is the second time in 5 weeks and 3rd time in 14 months. That is alot for any ship. Luanne21 Posted November 5, 2006 #52 Share Posted November 5, 2006 If you are reading this from your Motel room in Galveston, you need to stay put, as long as you can.
Frosting Master Posted November 5, 2006 #53 Share Posted November 5, 2006 Wow, that's terrible. I wonder what the story is...accident, drunk, on purpose. But purely selfishly, I'm glad the ship ain't broke.
Snoozeman Posted November 5, 2006 #54 Share Posted November 5, 2006 If you have read any of my reviews you know I always check the Galveston harbor web cam before I leave for Galveston. At least I can plan for a delay if she is not there. Galveston nor the Conquest can be blamed for this delay. Thanks Kchick.

barbevrn Posted November 5, 2006 #56 Share Posted November 5, 2006 It is hard for me to imagine falling off by accident. I suppose you COULD drink enough for that to happen.......but, still hard for me to imagine.

Tucker in Texas Posted November 5, 2006 #60 Share Posted November 5, 2006 word on the street is that Conquest will be in around noon The are going to be in for a shock. There are a gazillion motorcycles down in Galveston for some sort of rally. They were expected 300,000 over the weekend. Even the natives are complaining that it is just too many people. TexBeaumont Posted November 5, 2006 #61 Share Posted November 5, 2006 All of the idiots falling or jumping overboard are going to ruin the balcony experience for the rest of us. I can just see it now....A balcony covered from floor to ceiling with solid plexiglass.
Frosting Master Posted November 5, 2006 #62 Share Posted November 5, 2006 I heard it's supposed to be the 3rd largest rally in the country. I guess like Sturgis on an island.

Maguzi123 Posted November 5, 2006 #65 Share Posted November 5, 2006 I just came in on Rhapsody of the Seas and the word is that he Conquest (around 5 am) sped up, and make a quick u turn and then stopped. The sign in Galveston tells everyone to come back a 2 PM for check in. Sorry no other news. Joyce

Kchick Posted November 5, 2006 #67 Share Posted November 5, 2006 My laptop went dead. It's 1:00 and they're just getting all the self assist people off. A million stories about who the victim was but they definitely haven't found him. I spoke with the Coast Guard again...very tight lipped but no they haven't.. If you check the stats this is the 5th this year but CC is the biggest. Very rarely...read never....do they find them. One woman was found alive after 4 hours in the water off Florida but the dead ones are never found
Luv2cruise14 Posted November 5, 2006 #68 Share Posted November 5, 2006 My MIL in on the Conquest and I just talked to her and she said a man went overboard around 11pm last night and they circled the area for about 4 hrs. I talked to her around 11:30 and she said they had just started disembarking.

CVL105 Posted November 5, 2006 #73 Share Posted November 5, 2006 And here the rumors begin! One person says "teenager" another says he was "42". Either way, it's very unfortunate. Thoughts and prayers to the family.
Silvery Seas Cruiser Posted November 5, 2006 #74 Share Posted November 5, 2006 The Miami, FL news station just said the passenger was a 43-year old male who fell off a balcony. I didn't hear anything about his having been found yet. I hope he does turn up alive and well.
Iamthesea Posted November 6, 2006 #75 Share Posted November 6, 2006 It is the second time in 5 weeks and 3rd time in 14 months. I must have been moving during the last 6 weeks (had computer down) and didn't hear/read about a person going overboard 5 weeks ago. What happened?
