ncb106 Posted June 6, 2008 #401 Share Posted June 6, 2008 I will..... I know they chose a good ship. My cousin is diamond member with RCI so that's why she is sticking with Royal and that's why we are straying from Princess this one time. I'll gather some questions and email you. Do you have pics? If so you can email those too. THESE ARE SOME OF MY VIDEOS myspace.com/burgos26

RocksGal Posted June 6, 2008 #403 Share Posted June 6, 2008 Well, I moved our promenade coabin to deck 7. I am so excited about this cruise! Any suggestions for San Juan. It seems like such a weird port time (3pm - 11pm). Is there time to do anything before it gets dark?

RocksGal Posted June 6, 2008 #405 Share Posted June 6, 2008 Wow! Those pics were amazing! Do you know what time sunset is that time of the year in San Juan? I want to book dinner at Chops for that night and I want to make sure I make them late enough to enjoy that sunset.

FanofFlorida Posted June 7, 2008 #407 Share Posted June 7, 2008 Hey there, Does anyone have any information on the types of spa treatments offered? Massages and the such... ~Rich They have a full menu, including hot stone, deep tissue, basic swedish... you name it. I had a ginger salt treatment/massage the first full day of the cruise and it was a WONDERFUL way to start the week. :) Upon embarkation, go to the spa and make the appt, especially if you want an appt for the first day at sea. Also watch for specials throughout the week.

chrisaf Posted June 9, 2008 #410 Share Posted June 9, 2008 We just returned from the 6/1-6/8 sailing and I must say - it was great! There honestly isn't anything I could find fault with. We had a great time - enjoyed the cruise director and staff - had a great cabin attendant, nice meals in the dining room and wind jammer and truly enjoyed the ship overall. :)

If the Eastern, did the strange time in Puerto Rico (3pm-11pm) give you enough time to do anything? We did Eastern - we arrived in San Juan at 2:00 PM and left at 11:00 PM. We went into Town - did some shopping and walking around for quite a while - had dinner and then went to the Casino across the street from the Pier and played around there for a little while and then just walked across the street back to the ship later in the evening. We didn't do any of the tours as this was our 4th time to San Juan.
Alaskaom Posted June 11, 2008 #415 Share Posted June 11, 2008 :) Hi everyone, We are departing on the Freedom 3/1/09 for the 7 night western Caribbean trip. Does anyone else have plans for this cruise? I've been searching around, but cannot find anyone. I'm going to check in with the Meet & Mingle too. I am so excited for this trip. We are actually getting married on board before departure. And then when that's out of the way (lol) it's fun time on the ship!!:D I'm totally going to try and surf on the flowrider. We were also thinking that it may be better to have our meals at the later time, but we did not want to be stuck. There are always the other options like Jade or Chops etc.

iswimlikearock Posted June 17, 2008 #418 Share Posted June 17, 2008 We're leaving in a few weeks - can't wait!! We are just off the Western Itinerary, the C&A Welcome Back Party was Day 3 - Labadee before each dinner seating, and the PD was a breakfast in the dining room at 9:30 am on Day 6 - At Sea

Any recommendations of a good hotel to stay at the night before? Thanks! Yes, Orlando would be the largest airport near Port Canaveral. Daytona Beach Airport would be second. MCO (Orlando) is about 45 min to an hour from the Port. As far as hotel, it depends on if you want to stay close to the Port or in between or near the airport. placenta Posted June 25, 2008 #421 Share Posted June 25, 2008 First-time cruiser on the 21. December 2008. Some questions: 1) How crowded to the ship feel? Are there certain areas that are always crowded and uncomfortable? 2) The second seating dinner was full, so we were signed up for the first seating, but we're on waiting list for the second seating. What are our chances? 3) What's the inventory (and prices) of the minibar? Do we have to call for roomservice for every beer to be served on our room? We have a balcony and would like to relax on the balcony with a few beers :) 4) What is the price of the "soda card" that everybody seems to be talking about? 5) How crowded are the bathing-areas? Thanks :D

Thanks :D Well I can only answer one. The sailing I was on was sold out. However, the ship did not feel crowded. I believe the reason for this is that there is so much to do and so many different areas to do it in that no one area gets too crowded. However, there are a few exceptions. The line to get on the tenders during "prime time" can be quite long. The Windjammer can get so crowded that finding a table in the windjammer can be difficult. There is nothing you can do about the long tender lines (unless you are a really strong swimmer and you are not wearing anything that will be ruined by salt water). As to the Windjammer, you can take the food back to your cabin and eat it on you balcony (a favorite of mine for breakfast) or you can eat in the main dinning room (which was never crowded when we went in there - which we did a lot, since there were six of us). Otherwise, I never felt the area I was in was too crowded.

NJBill Posted June 27, 2008 #425 Share Posted June 27, 2008 I hope this works (below from CC article today) out until our cruise in July 2009. We really loved the anytime dining feature on NCL. With 3 kids, it makes life much easier :D ,although some folks do not like the concept.. Notes: One downside, fleetwide, is that main restaurant dining still adheres to the traditional format: assigned times and tablemates. While some families may prefer it, others with restless youngsters (of any age) may not be as fond of long dinner hours. (Editor's note: Freedom of the Seas is currently experimenting with a more flexible dining system, which should start to roll out on all ships by late 2008.)
