coldinreno Posted June 8, 2009 #77 Share Posted June 8, 2009 What a great idea to allow guests to have some real input!. Africa was my first choice but after hours I gave up, could not make the logistics work. Perhaps some day Oceania will do a world cruise & sell segments. We would love to visit Capetown, Durban & Mombasa again. ( all day Safari trip). Some very good suggestions here, good luck to all. brian_uk Posted June 8, 2009 Author #78 Share Posted June 8, 2009 For those of you who want a Round Britain Cruise, my suggestion would be as follows. London - Based by Greenwich. Overnight Zeebrugge -- For the City of Brugges Newcastle - Simply because I doubt you Yanks would undertand the accent. Edinburgh - MUST be after August 7th for the EDinburgh Festival Overnight Inverness - Close to Loch Ness and see the Monster Shetland - Buy some woollen clothes Liverpool -- Tour the home of The Beatles Belfast See the Battlegrounds of the Religious wars Dublin A place to get drunk Waterford Buy Glasswares or ideally tour The Ring of Kerry Padstow The Home of 2, 3* Michelin Restaurants ( I think) operated by Rick Stein Poole -- To see The Jurassic Coast or New Forest Dover It is not a tour that I would do but it is definitive of the British Isles, Eire and a touch of Belgium Brian

Carolina Cruiserr Posted June 8, 2009 #80 Share Posted June 8, 2009 As someone who hates long flights, I offer the following proposal, which could be offered as two separate cruises, as well as a back-to-back: San Diego Ensenada, Mexico (to satisfy the Mann Act, or whatever else would work) At sea

I think it's the "Jones Act"... The "Mann Act" was the one prohibiting "transporting women across state lines for immoral purposes"... For that one, you'd likely have to keep the sailing in-state... Aussie Gal Posted June 8, 2009 #84 Share Posted June 8, 2009 In case someone is looking for Charlotteville and can't find it, its called Charlottetown. Aussie Gal Posted June 8, 2009 #85 Share Posted June 8, 2009 Halifax & Sydney are in Nova Scotia I have amended my entry to Halifax and Sydney being in Canada which is the country that they belong to. I do think you are picking straws with someone who is not familiar with that part of the world and that is why I have posted that itinerary as I would love to visit there. spindrift Posted June 9, 2009 #93 Share Posted June 9, 2009 Oh my - so many places, so many options, so many desires and only 2 itineraries from each participant, but 2 is better than none, right?;) I shall submit this one followed by my 2nd shortly. Valparaiso (Santiago) Iquique, Chili* San Martin (Pisco)* Callao (Lima), Peru (probably an overnighter) Guayaquil, Ecuador* Galapagos (2 days)* Panama Canal San Blas* Cozumel* Georgetown, GC* Galveston* (And if you wished to end up in Miami, you could sail on around via New Orleans) I'm not sure of the days involved, but I calculate 15 to 17 days to at least Galveston. The starred ports I believe are new to Oceania; however, I'm not sure. (Are you sure we can't do 3? :D I'm booked already (in my favorite stateroom) for the Lands of the Midnight Sun. I've been wishing that they would go up to Spitzbergen, and lo and behold, there it was. This is going to be a FABULOUS trip. Thanks O

Paulchili Posted June 9, 2009 #97 Share Posted June 9, 2009 It's really just fun playing... Actually, the most interesting part of this exercise is that, in researching our "entries", I am sure we're all coming up with some great ideas only to figure out "Wait! Oceania already goes there..." quote] Actually there have been great many places suggested here that Oceania does not go to yet - that's the idea. How many are feasible is a different question. I agree with you, win or lose, it is fun playing and dreaming and I am sure only good things will come out of this. It is a totally novel idea for us to have a real chance of input as to where we would like to go next. I don't see any other cruise line thinking like this and by FDR's offer obviously meaning what they say. Indeed, good luck to us all!

hondorner Posted June 10, 2009 #100 Share Posted June 10, 2009 OK, here's mine. With the advent of Marina sailing in the Caribbean in the Winter. I think a Western Caribbean cruise has to be added. Of course, almost everyone has "been there, done that". I think I've done the standard Western Caribbean at least four times, myself. So, I looked at some of the places that I'd like to see again, and some of the places where I have never been, and came up with what would be my ultimate 16 day Western Carib cruise. Times are approximate. I prefer cruises with sea days scattered through for time to rest up between port days. 1) Depart Miami 6 PM 2) At Sea 3) Grand Turk 8AM to 6 PM 4) At Sea 5) Bonaire 8 AM to 6 PM 6) Curacao 8 AM to 6 PM 7) Aruba 8 AM to 6 PM (my in-laws did the ABC Islands many, many years ago on a Grace Line cruise; I think I'd like to follow tradition) 8) At Sea 9) Colon, Panama 8 AM to 6 PM (Could go into Gatun Yacht Club, but the last time I was there, we took a land tour along the canal to Panama City -- I wouldn't mind doing it again, it was a different perspective to traveling through the canal) 10) Puerto Limon, Costa Rica 8 AM to 4 PM 11) At Sea 12) Roatan 8 AM to 4 PM 13) Santo Tomas, Guatemala 8 AM to 4 PM 14) At Sea 15) Progreso, Mexico (Merida,Chichen Itza) 8 AM to 6 PM 16) At Sea 17) Arrive Miami 6 AM If the cruise could stretch to 18 or 20 days, I'd add Veracruz City, Mexico and maybe New Orleans, maybe for an overnight.
