Rare kazu Posted May 21, 2017 #26 Share Posted May 21, 2017 Can you please explain what a "casino promotion" is? I need to get on that list! :) I don't understand any of this. How does it work to get these low fares? Casino promotions are offered to people who have "donated" to the casino on the previous cruise (s). They can come by way of an offer for a very discounted or free cruise or by a discount on the price of a cruise you select (if the itinerary qualifies). I am not sure what $ amount or time in the casino is involved.
sapper1 Posted May 21, 2017 #27 Share Posted May 21, 2017 Based on the $20 per cruise that we each donate to the slots, I think I can safely assume that an offer such as this will never make an appearance on our doorstep. I won't hold my breath. :)
Rare ski ww Posted May 21, 2017 #28 Share Posted May 21, 2017 That's a great deal. Considering what we're paying for an inside on the NA to Alaska in Jul. I'd jump at that. Allan

LDVinNC Posted May 21, 2017 #30 Share Posted May 21, 2017 We have never gotten an unsolicited offer for a casino fare, but several times when we have booked we have gotten a significant unexpected discount. We play the slots - generally lightly and unsuccessfully!
Beach4me Posted May 21, 2017 #31 Share Posted May 21, 2017 Okay then....you can find me on the stool in front of the prettiest slot machine on my Eurodam voyage. :)

I guess I won't be getting a reduced fare.:)
Batt16 Posted May 21, 2017 #33 Share Posted May 21, 2017 Okay then....you can find me on the stool in front of the prettiest slot machine on my Eurodam voyage. :) I know! We just goofed around with the penny slots, got lucky and won $1200 which we put back pretty much all of it. If the weather hadn't been so bad, we probably would not have even gambled. If the weather hadn't been so bad, we probably would not have even gambled. Most casinos (land and sea based) base their offers on how much you put into the machine, not how much you won or lost. They know that if you play long enough, they will get your money eventually.
OVgirl Posted May 21, 2017 #35 Share Posted May 21, 2017 They must have lost our email address. Didn't get any offers for a free cruise.
VermeulT Posted May 21, 2017 #36 Share Posted May 21, 2017 I am SO jealous of these offers. I'd take them up on 'em in a heart beat. Wonder if they're transferable... ie you can give it to me if you're not using the promotion..... Lucky for all those of you that got them and will enjoy a great week away. ger_77 Posted May 22, 2017 #38 Share Posted May 22, 2017 We would happily take the free inside cabin - why bother with the upsells? We would be on the same ship as everyone else and Alaskan cruises are so scenic, we wouldn't want to spend much time in our cabin anyway. I'd love to get an offer like that! Smooth Sailing! :) :) :)
CruiseMGM Posted May 22, 2017 #39 Share Posted May 22, 2017 We were amazingly lucky last year and got an offer for a free inside, with a choice of several different cruises (all in Europe) during the particular time frame of late-spring/early-summer. We jumped on it and picked a cruise with a bunch of ports we'd never visited. It was the first "last minute" cruise we'd ever taken. Six weeks may not seem like "last minute" to most travelers, but when you're talking about flights from the Southwest USA to Europe and back, that was as "last minute" as we'd have wanted to be. Well, we had the time of our lives! It was a GREAT cruise on the lovely Zuiderdam, from Copenhagen round trip on a Fjords and Highlands cruise. We were so astonished at the offer, and so grateful for the chance, that I still smile with sheer abandon when thinking of it! Yes, there were costs involved. We upgraded to a balcony for a nominal fee .....which we didn't need to do, but we enjoyed it tremendously. There were the taxes and fees, of course, which was only fair. And the flights to and from Europe ....ouch! Plus we booked several excursions ......we could have avoided these costs and just wandered about on our own, but the chance to see Loch Ness was a dream come true for yours truly, while visiting the Falkirk Wheel was a highlight for my mechanically-inclined hubbie. And we had a pre-cruise hotel for a few nights .....loved the hotel and loved Copenhagen! I look forward to any future emails like this from HAL, and hope, if we ever receive another offer like this, we have the time and extra cash put aside to take advantage of it. But I'm not holding my breath. I think that might have been a once-in-a-lifetime! I doubt we'll ever get another offer like that, but I'm supremely glad we took advantage of the offer when we got it. Best wishes to all!
circus12345 Posted May 25, 2017 #40 Share Posted May 25, 2017 Had not sailed on HAL in the passed 7years and got the "free" offer. I don't necessarily play 'big" in casino, only penny machines. Only had to pay port charges and taxes $396.....and of course they tempted us with an upgrade to Neptune suite for $999...Cant beat that as the Neptune go for about $4,000. Booked on Aug 28 to Alaska 14 days...
retiredyoungLV Posted May 26, 2017 #41 Share Posted May 26, 2017 Since this thread is mentioning the 14 day Amsterdam cruise along with discounted pricing please let me know if you have any advice. (Like would Costco have better prices than online? Or has anyone (female) received this fantastic deal & want to share expenses?) I wanted to sail on the June 5th sailing but couldn't find someone to travel with. Now I'm shooting for the July 17th or August 28th dates. I'm a single woman looking for a good price. Thank you!
