CruiserBruce Posted August 18, 2017 #3 Share Posted August 18, 2017 I have cruised the Canal 3 times, and have a Canal cruise scheduled for October (on HAL). We have never been directed to have any shots/vaccinations of any type.
Rare Keith1010 Posted August 18, 2017 #4 Share Posted August 18, 2017 CruiserBruce has it right. If you are transiting the Panama Canal you do not need any special vaccinations. Keith
Clarea Posted August 18, 2017 #5 Share Posted August 18, 2017 No special vaccinations needed for the canal.
wheezedr Posted August 18, 2017 #6 Share Posted August 18, 2017 You do not need yellow fever shots. There are not any shots for malaria, just medications taken pre and concurrent with possible exposure. For your cruise you will not need them
Kartgv Posted August 18, 2017 #7 Share Posted August 18, 2017 Ask your own doctor if you have any special health conditions that might make it advisable to have any shots or medications prior to cruising.
paul929207 Posted August 18, 2017 #8 Share Posted August 18, 2017 We did the Canal on Princess early this year and did not need any shots.
cb at sea Posted August 19, 2017 #9 Share Posted August 19, 2017 NO..the cruise line and countries do NOT require it. Your doctor might recommend it for you, if you have health issues. On the ship, you will not come into contact with malaria...now, if you were hiking thru the "wilds" of Panama, it might be a good idea.
leaveitallbehind Posted August 19, 2017 #10 Share Posted August 19, 2017 Just to echo most of the other responses in our Panama experience none was recommended or required.
