Rare welshfamily Posted July 26, 2016 #1 Share Posted July 26, 2016 Starting to think about which nights to book Sepeciality resturants. Does anyone know if the reservation person pier side will know when white night is? Thank you.
Rare uktog Posted July 26, 2016 #2 Share Posted July 26, 2016 Yes they will do, they know it when they load the sailing onto the restaurant system. You will probably also be able to pick up a little calendar on a Pursuits daily shoreside which has little symbols showing White Nights, time changes Azamazing Evening etc

ellbon Posted July 26, 2016 #4 Share Posted July 26, 2016 They use to tell you also what the theme nights were in buffet and shows. I had to cancel dinner to see a show. or add a dinner in due to no show i wanted to see. they have all the info but do not tell us anymore ahead. johnnycruise Posted July 26, 2016 #5 Share Posted July 26, 2016 The main dining room dinner menus are loaded on the TV in the stateroom by the second day of the cruise. We used that to help us determine which nights to eat in the specialty restaurants.

We used that to help us determine which nights to eat in the specialty restaurants. Very good point. We also had the show info on boarding in April. It was all subject to change of course as performers miss flights, people get sick and the one that usually causes issues they have to move white nights to get a better weather night. But it is a help if there is one performer you want to see and know he/she has flown in for a show. at least you have a base to go on.. I did not have show info in March or June.. Guess different cruise directors do it differently. same with them buffets.

Rare welshfamily Posted July 26, 2016 Author #10 Share Posted July 26, 2016 No. However when you get to the Pier just after you have checked in there will be a table for booking the speciality restaurants. I think there are 4 sittings, 6pm, 6.30pm, 8pm and 8.30pm. ( not a hundred percent sure of the times ) This is an excellent system IMHO as it gives everyone travelling with Azamara a chance to experience these restaurants if they wish to. Last year, as Newbies, we booked every other night, alternating between Prime C and Aqulina except for the Azamazing evening and ended up having to cancel some to go to White night and the Indian buffet. Trying to plan a little more in advance this year.

They know which day should be Indian Night or Greek etc- that could change too. better to have booked than not. try to cancel by noon as someone will grab the booking. I even go on White Night then go dance.
Lottie A Posted July 26, 2016 #12 Share Posted July 26, 2016 Personally, I would never want to miss the great deck barbecue on White Night....even to eat in Aqualina or Prime C. One of the great pleasures of White Night is dining al fresco with friends....both old and new...and then dancing your feet off to the great live music. There are plenty of other nights to enjoy the specialties. White Night is once a cruise.
Rare Host Jazzbeau Posted July 27, 2016 #14 Share Posted July 27, 2016 (edited) If God had meant us to eat outside, why did He give us Air Conditioning??? :D [Apologies to the possibly apocryphal British old lady who said "If God had meant us to fly, why did He give us the railroad?"] Edited July 27, 2016 by Host Jazzbeau

Rare uktog Posted July 27, 2016 #16 Share Posted July 27, 2016 I think White Nights is about more than eating. It's about the social atmosphere that comes from all coming together to share and enjoy. So whilst buffets are not my preference I do not want to "join the party late". As Marinaro says I can eat in a speciality other nights, so White Nights is not about my eating preferences it's about socialising with other guests. PS Although buffets are not my preference I find the spread on white nights excellent especially the live cooking.
excitedofharpenden Posted July 27, 2016 #17 Share Posted July 27, 2016 My favourite night of the cruise. Love eating outside, but can understand others wish of trying the Specialty if not keen on buffets. You have to go out afterwards though and savour the atmosphere. Singing and dancing kick off at 8.30pm. Good fun. The crew make such a great effort setting it all up. Penzance Posted July 27, 2016 #19 Share Posted July 27, 2016 Great photograph Phil - reminds me of our White Night in Trapani last month. I totally agree with UKtog and Lottie A - who wants to concentrate on the food when there's hot live music and a great party atmosphere under the stars. We loved it. Rare welshfamily Posted July 27, 2016 Author #21 Share Posted July 27, 2016 Helen- Miami, White night is a deck party with a BBQ served by the staff and officers. Dinning tables are dressed on the deck for alfresco dinning. Entertainment and a party band for dancing. Waiters circulate to provide drinks. Most guests wear white or something white, but this is not a must. It's good fun.

In Britain we only have "railways". What's that quote about being divided by a common language? :D
