Thanks, David. Whilst there will be about 4,000 in port, the passengers on Celebrity Millennium wouldn't be arriving at Seward, as a first port of call.

Anchorage is our first port of call.....

we will be visiting Canada after that which is why I am assuming that we will need to do the immigration thing again is SFO.... when we did the Fort Lauderdale - colon 2000 - Panama - Los Angeles on the world cruise 2011 we had to do immigration again...

I did wonder if Canada would muddy the waters. There are a number of ships which do that route from Asia, via Alaska and Canada, to US ports, so someone will know.

Just thought I would check Rays blog from when he did the pacific Circle in 2012

Arrival in Anchorage

It was misty, cool, and bleak, but charming too. We were booked into the immigration interview for 9:20am and on our tour at 10:20am. There was plenty of time for breakfast and for us, the immigration interview was no problem. Although it didn’t say so on our paperwork, we did need our passports and we also needed photo ID if going ashore. For those not on organised tours, I gather there were complaints about the process being a bit of a shambles, with long waits in the theatre, then the last in being led out first.

Arrival in San Francisco

now they disembarked here ... but I am sure everyone would have done immigration... now to remember if there were any other blogs

An early breakfast was essential as the 8.00am appointment (not 8:20am) with US immigration was set in concrete. However, seated in the theatre, awaiting the call for the interview, meant a 45 minute wait and waste of time - and the natives were definitely getting restless. If NZ can put a couple of people on board to do all the processing on sea days, then I see no reason why the US can’t.

We were eventually sent down to the opposite end of the ship to the vista lounge for the face to face. No fingerprints, no eye scans, just a face to face with a pleasant official who stamps the passport and clips the departure card to it.

That makes sense.

It is funny, as David said, how one thing leads to another. Fun way to cruise home after an enjoyable time in London. It is a small world!

Welcome to the US!

Yes, when ships visit smaller ports first it can also lead to delays. When the Solstice visited Hilo, it took about 4 hours for people to get through Immigration.

We then went direct to HNL, and had a 2 hour queue for them to check onboard.

Good to see they're making good use of our US$14 fee to improve tourist services.

As post I , 3.30 pm NZ time , the scanner site states...

Arrival will be in 6 hrs 31 min. (at 05:00 h local time)

so that should be 10pm NZ and 8 pm Sydney time.

The transit takes all day (most of the day )so they should be in the Miraflores Locks..(Pacific side) early morning NZ time.

You can follow the transit on Marine Traffic and also track them here..

They have now made the transit and are in the Pedro Miguel locks. You can see some of the canal expansion work on the right. From here they will head a short distance to the Miraflores locks where the cam should give us a close up.
