  1. We did the Prague pre extension and when we added it up it did not seem as pricey as we first thought since it included the transportation to the ship, transfer from the airport, breakfast. Yes, it was still more expensive but the convenience worth something, I'm sure that others would disagree.
  2. Just because they are included doesn't mean you have to use them. Like a previous poster said, some people use them just to get into town. For example, in Vienna, we took the included excursion and let the guide know that we were dropping off.
  3. You could easily spend a week in both Barcelona and Rome. I think the next step is to do some research and figure out what you want to see and whether you can do it in 2 -3 days. In Barcelona two days you could get to Sagrada Fam. Parc Guell, Gothic Quarter, Ramblas (including market), and a couple of Gaudi houses.
  4. Here is a link to some pictures from this past summer. Med Cruise 22 (shutterfly.com)
  5. These sites are not really walking distance from each other (although not impossible). I would think about taxis between each site. Walking will use a lot of your time. Think about getting an opening time ticket to PG, then a noon or 1 pm ticket for SF. There are places to each around SF. After SF, you can go to the Ramblas/Gothic Quarter. Plenty of places to eat there.
  6. They all looked alike and cost the same.
  7. I was in Southern Spain last January. I generally needed a light jacket during the day and something heavier in the evening.
  8. I think they are all pretty much identical.
  9. In Freeport there is a small area near the port. Can't imagine that it will keep you occupied for long (unless you are hanging in Sr. Frongs)
  10. Historic district is walking distance. It is not small. You might think about walking to the city market and taking a horse and carriage tour.
  11. Plan your days. If you do not take the optional excursions, what will you during that time?
  12. We've been to Barcelona four times and La Sagrada is the only place we have gone all four times. Well, we did walk the Ramblas and go to the Market all four times.
  13. We just hoped on. There were maybe a dozen folks on the boat.
  14. Agree that Barcelona is great to explore on your own. Another option is the HOHO bus.
  15. I usually figure if you have to ask, its too close. I am risk averse and would rather be waiting on line at the port than worrying that my flight is an hour late.
  16. Most of my pictures are from more tourist things. Here is a picture from Versailles that is zoomed in and a fast shutter speed.
  17. If you've already been to Amalfi, why not give Positano a shot Med Cruise 22 (shutterfly.com)
  18. When Hank says "very hot" he means "very very very hot"
  19. Listen to the traffic report and be prepared to take whichever is better.
  20. For example, if two of you in the cabin book a $100 excursion, the first person gets charged $50 and the second pays $100;
  21. We went to Pompeii on our own and were glad that we hired a guide. The guide put a lot into perspective above what we could have got from a guide book. There is a lot there that just looks like ruins.
  22. We have been to Barcelona four times and we still have things on our list to see. Each time, we go to La Sagrada to see how much progress has been made. Also, not on the HOHO tour is the palau de la música.
  23. Recommend that you be on deck for sail away. The SOL will not be on the same side of the ship as the Manhattan sky line. You may have to get up early but the return trip up the Hudson is worth going out for.
