    We recommend the 6 bridges cruise. There are a number of places and vendors where you can pick this up.

    One reason there is a continual flow of taxis is that they are coming to drop people off for the next cruise. Like a previous poster we saw taxis continually come into the port.

    We went on a tour. Don't remember the cost and it was a half day that included another stop

    I have one and I love it. It is the only lens I took on my river cruise this year and I took over a thousand pictures. The only problem is that sometimes you have to use manual focus when it is really dark, but that might be the camera (60D).

    I would go to Rome no matter how many times I've been. There is always more to see.

    In Paris, there is also a HOHO Boat. We bought a two day ticket as the boat stopped about five minutes from our hotel. On day one, we rode the boat and just enjoyed the scenery. On the second day, we picked our stops to get off and explore.

    We also have a teacher in the family so summer is our only option. Bottom line is it is HOT in the Med on the summer. As far as cruise line and ports it is personal choice. The ports that I could go to over and over again are Barcelona, Rome, Florence, Naples and somewhere in Provence.

    Is there any way to get to the European continent directly from Southhampton. We will be going to Amsterdam after the cruise.

    Oh, I wish I remember the name of the restaurant. From hotel 1898 go to the Ramblas, turn left and it was not far. The kids were really impressed with the robot that delivered the food.
