  1. But only if you pay. If you turn up without having paid for seats, then they will be allocated free when you check in, and you will more than likely sit together until only single seats are left.
  2. Do we really want to live in such a pampered and cosseted world, leaving no room for the delightful Arthur Daleys of the retail trade??🤣
  3. Our barometer is way down in the stormy area but there is hardly a breath of wind and the sun is now breaking through the clouds, and the temp is a balmy 15 deg So far Babette is proving to be a big softy.
  4. But if it doesn't actually reduce the prices what is the point, surely we are all wise enough to know these charges exist and take them into account when we book.
  5. This will be easily remedied on board by your steward, once you have organised a cot and established you won't need the Pullman bunk, he will also switch the bed back to a queen configuration. However I would get P&O to confirm the request for a Cot, this should ensure one is reserved for you.
  6. One of the benefits of having poor hearing is that I don't have problems with any of the issues you raise, and I tend to see positives if possible.
  7. Perhaps next time, if there is one, you should use a top notch online TA, then they would sort all this out for you before you hand over any deposit.
  8. We never needed extra legroom seats, and always managed to book window seats, possibly because we generally booked our flights early.
  9. It will be interesting to see what happens with this investigation, but I hazard a guess that even if they are forced to reduce or even cease charging for seat bookings etc, all the airlines will do is find another way, or just increase the base fare.
  10. We have not flown since 2010, but flew regularly before that and never ever paid extra to book a seat on any scheduled flight, and even on our low cost Jet2 flights to Spain we never paid for seats, and always ended up sitting together, although possibly because we noticed that their on line booking system would allocate sequential seat numbers if you did not pay for seats. So I guess since 2010 things must have changed, clearly not for the better.
  11. I wonder what any airline would do if they found that a disabled passenger could not sit in the seat they had assigned them, but they could fit in a seat allocated and occupied by another passenger?????
  12. I suspect you are wrong, my BIL had a fish & Chip shop for many years, and normally used fresh fish. He only ever used frozen fish for haddock, which had a much lower demand, and did not really like serving that because the batter was always soggier than his cod fillets.
  13. I don't think the fish is frozen, it is clearly deep fat fried which you could not do with frozen fish, and get the same crispness.
  14. If your trip includes Antigua, then a taxi to English harbour and Nelsons dockyard would be worthwhile. Although the port area is probably one of the best for shops and bars.
  15. That's just denying yourself the enjoyment of a delicious treat.
  16. But those are now threads like these, which are almost impossible to search for specific information without tearing your hair out in frustration. Whatever happened to the old ones which had been professionally put together for each port and kept updated with the sort of useful data that was most needed, and was easily accessed without having to use CCs useless search facility?
  17. I know the ones you mean, give me the lovely crispy ones they have at the Quays any day.
  18. Our TA has managed to secure one of our favoured adapted cabins for Iona's Caribbean cruise in 2026, even though we have switched to a saver fare this time.
  19. Why should hand cut chips be better than machine cut, and would it make any difference to the taste, or crispness?
  20. What exactly is a net rate discount?
  21. We always use Parking4Cruises, they operate similar to CPS but you deliver the car to them in the short stay car park, and their charges are much lower than CPS.
  22. I never book direct, always use an online TA, especially for launch bookings where the TA will ensure I get one of the cabins I want. However after Wednesaday she should be advised a cabin number, and if it doesn't suit her she should be able to change to a more suitable cabin.
  23. I imagine we will lose Baltic next year, and I doubt we will get it back even though we do have two 35 nighters booked for future years.
  24. It is 6 deg here with hazy sunshine and not a hint of wind, have a lazy day everyone.
  25. Maybe, but they are the only surviving northern hemisphere side left in the competition.
