  1. Yes. I did it all the way across the Atlantic on the Prima...and in February on the Joy. As I mentioned, your balance won't update until you get data but they can give you a receipt. Also you earn Stars for your purchases but they cannot be redeemed on board.
  2. They don't take out a gratuity if you use the gift card either, at least not in my experience. If you use your room key, then a gratuity might be charged but I try to avoid having charges on my folio at the end of a cruise.
  3. It will be in your cabin at embarkation or shortly afterwards (sometimes amenities get delivered throughout embarkation day based on how many Latitudes members are on board).
  4. This is incorrect. I have used my Starbucks app on multiple ships and never was a gratuity added. If you use the app, you don't sign anything to add a tip. And yes, you can use the gift cards in place of the app. Your app will not update your remaining balance until you connect to data but you can ask for a paper receipt and it will show your balance. I always go to the Starbucks and give a cash tip to the crew on my last day on the ship but that is just me.
  5. Lots of transfer information on this Port of Call forum: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/148-british-isleswestern-europe/
  6. Because they had contracts signed before the pandemic.
  7. Now called the General Manager.
  8. @UKstagesI enjoyed your review of the Prima and agreed with a lot of what you stated. This ship is not designed for cold weather. I was on the Inaugural TA and really disliked the ship. We had terrible weather, couldn't use the outside venues for a couple of days (doors were actually blocked off with yellow caution tape) and my balcony was useless. That being said, my travel companion loved the ship, saying it was his favorite he had been on (and he has cruised RCL, Disney and Princess in the past, as well as NCL multiple times). I cancelled the Viva TA and swore I would never cruise on this class of ship again. But somehow I am booked on the US Inaugural of the Viva...it's only 4 days, in warm weather and way overpriced. I love that new ship smell and am an optimist (plus somewhat crazy). Truly hoping I come back and have a wonderful experience to report.
  9. You can also call NCL and see if they will do it over the phone for you. I have had success doing this several times.
  10. Balcony cabins and above have coffee makers available but since the pandemic, you need to request them from your room steward,
  11. On Prima there is the large waterfront area on deck 8. Cabins on deck 9 don't offer much privacy with people right down below. I was on deck 10 and didn't feel like anyone could look directly into my cabin but also didn't feel like I had as much privacy when on my balcony. If I had a choice, I think I would have picked a cabin a few decks higher.
  12. If you are on the ship, why don't you ask an Officer there, rather than random people on the internet who have no idea?
  13. No, everything is completed at the 21 day mark. I would have all the documentation ready (passport, credit card number, etc.) and the photos saved to your desktop for easy access. Really doesn't take much time if you are prepared.
  14. Just make a reservation for 4 people. Both cabins do not have to make reservations. I have traveled with 6 people, all in individual cabins, and booked a table for 6.
  15. Y'anique is great! She was our Assistant CD on one of the first Encore sailings back to Alaska in September 2021. She actually had to take over as CD for the cruise as our CD got covid. What a ball of energy she is! And FYI, her last name is Smith. I hope to see her on another NCL cruise soon.
  16. I don't think you would because you need to use the app/giftcard to obtain stars and with the package they swipe your cruise card, I have used my Starbucks app on multiple NCL ships, including the Getaway. You don't need wi-fi to use the app but your balance won't update until you do get wi-fi or data. You can ask the barista for a receipt which will show your current balance after purchase (but I don't bother).
  17. If it's all good for the basic package, just bring on your own wine. There is no longer a corkage fee if you have a drink package.
  18. One more thing to remember if you just switch cards...when you go to charge something, not only will your name come up as David, but his photo will pop up on the screen and I doubt you look like him! As mentioned above, have David check to see if there are any insides available on deck 4 and then call NCL and ask for one, I think if he explains the seasickness situation, they will comply (or at least get him on a lower deck),
  19. I've never made a reservation for the MDR on any NCL ship, with a group size ranging from 2 to 6. The longest I have ever waited was less than 10 minutes...long enough to get a cocktail at the bar to take to dinner. I typically show up between 6 to 6:30.
  20. Have you tried calling NCL to book dinner reservations? I would try that route first if you don't want to stand in line on the ship. I don't think you will have a better selection on the app on board, as many people will be in line making reservations and the app might not be able to keep up. As far as connecting to the ship's wi-fi from the terminal, on my last cruise in February, the wi-fi didn't 'roll over' to the cruise I was on until about 11:30. I boarded around 11:00 and while I had wi-fi, the app was showing disembarkation information for the prior cruise.
  21. In the past, any Breakaway or B+ ship, you had to drag your bag with you until cabins were available. Not the best idea. But I recently read in the past few weeks that on the Joy, they did use the Q restaurant for baggage storage until the rooms were ready. My opinion is that with cabins being ready so much later (mine was not ready until 4pm and doors are closed so no way to get inside), the larger ships will start having baggage storage. Would love to hear from someone who has cruised this month to see what their experience was.
  22. Unless something has changed in the past 2 months, a solo traveler can treat someone to dinner with their Platinum voucher. They CANNOT get 2 dinners for themselves in the same restaurant at the same time, nor take one voucher and split it over 2 nights, either at the same restaurant or in a different one. I have done this with 2 people (me and someone else) up to 8 people (4 Platinum treating 4 others). Keep it simple and don't overthink it.
  23. There was a thread about this topic on page 1 of this forum 7 hours ago, It's now on page 2 so a little scrolling would find it.
  24. My opinion only...since you already have access to the Thermal Spa, it would not be worth $100 p/p just for the larger bathroom and the few amenities you get. You didn't mention what ship you are on but between the Spa, the Waterfront and the Observation Lounge, I don't spend much time in my cabin other than to sleep. But only you can determine if it is worth it (and ships are sailing so full that it seems very few upgrades are being awarded). Enjoy your cruise.
