  1. Hi! I'll be on the Celebrity Summit shortly and am looking at sailing on RCCL's Anthem of the Seas out of NJ in February. I've been told on the Celebrity boards that I *can* book a RCCL sailing on board as long as I know all the information (I do - sail date, cabin type, cabin number) and it would be subject to the on board booking conditions for RCCL. What are those currently - in terms of deposit and promotion? Thanks!
  2. The Dream was at a different pier yesterday and the tie-up lines blocked the doors where all their supplied are usually loaded, so it was delayed to see if changing tides would shift things. It did not, so they had to use forward and aft doors which meant things had to be moved from there to the usual spots once inside. So that took longer and that is why sailing was delayed - not the Carnival ship. In terms of embarkation, they do not usually use the doors on Deck 4, but again, because of the location of ropes and things on the pier, they had to disembark and embark on Deck 4. Delayed disembarkation a bit as they had to move everything to the new location. I can't answer the merch question, but that is why there was delay in boarding and in leaving.
  3. Top right corner there is a dropdown menu to select language from a few (including English). Right next to the little globe.
  4. The problem is on the one hand X is saying there is no reserving of deck chairs; but on the other they are selling towel clips that SAY "Reserved". Totally mixed messaging.
  5. Those are like the "back in x minutes" signs put up on doors. Useless without the starting time on them.
  6. This! The only time I've ever had a problem with an airline asking for volunteers was on one flight where they started boarding, THEN realized they needed volunteers and asked. When there were not initially enough, they came onto the plane and asked those of us on board. It was a FABULOUS offer and 2 of us were going to take it and were on our way off the plane when one of the other gate agents met us and the agent who had come on the plane on the ramp to say that they had gotten enough. The agent who had come down to get us was clearly annoyed and even said to themselves but loud enough we heard it "We should have pulled the offer up there until we asked you." They managed to give us each $100 flight credit even though we still took the flight - it was nowhere near what was being offered though. But in that case it was the fault of the gate agents who didn't say something like "We're going to go ask those who have boarded and once I step through that door the offer here is suspended until I am back." If it's clearly stated this is a limited offer, that's all X would have had to do.
  7. So if I know the date, ship, and cabin it could be done? I guess it would be the standard RCCL deposit?
  8. Could you book a Royal Caribbean cruise while onboard Celebrity? Same type of deals/deposit?
  9. Ship: Celebrity Summit Length of Cruise: 7 nights Cruise Sail Date: 7/16-23/2023 Date email offer received: 5/2/2023 Captain’s Club Tier: Select Booked through Celebrity Direct OR via TA: TA Current Cabin: 1141 - aft-facing Aqua Class Bid? Yes/No: NO If YES - Bidding Details: Cabin Category: place winning category, if accepted (all category offers, can be mentioned in comments) Bid Offer: Notification Date: Accepted / Rejected General Comments (offer details, etc.) minimum bids Sky Suite - $300/person Aqua Sky Suite - $400/person Celebrity Suite - $500/person Royal Suite - $700/person As a solo cruiser, there's no way I'd bid since those amounts would be doubled. I'll happily stay in my aft-facing Aqua Class stateroom.
  10. Your cabin didn't have a bed?? I've never heard of that on any ship.
  11. My TA has said Eden is the better comparison for Wonderland.
  12. The website says any alcoholic beverage up to $10 on the package description and comparison. It doesn't break it down by beer/cocktail/wine.
  13. I think what @prmssk was referencing is her conversations with Celebrity. If it was just her and her late husband on the cruise, there was likely no one other than her that Celebrity talked with about arrangements. And in a state of grief, we don't always listen as well as we should/our mind is not fully on the conversation so she might not have heard them correctly in their discussion of removing the body in Puerto Rico.
  14. All of this...and it sometimes brings up old threads that get resurrected and then the poster is jumped on for bringing up an old thread. Catch-22.
  15. I think they mean that obnoxious thing on the arm that goes up and down and you can ride in (for an extra charge I think). Not lilterally Polaris. So if it was up in a certain position, the capsule could block the sun.
  16. I thought that was someone at a beach bar you went to, not an X employee?
  17. But...they didn't "exhaust every possibility" as that would have been asking for volunteers first before randomly cancelling people. (I have no dog in the fight as I've only pondered a Japan cruise...it's never been super high on my "want to visit" list) - but I've followed this saga.)
  18. This looks AWESOME! Would it likely be on a sea day? It's offered on the Summit to Bermuda but no day/time is given. We have 2 sea days going and 1 coming back - will it likely be one of those?
  19. The primary reason IF I ever go to Japan it will be on a cruise ship is because I do not eat fish - not cooked, and definitely not raw. I'm also gluten-free - so no noodles and even teriyaki or soy sauce isn't safe unless it's specifically gluten-free. I need to know I have food I CAN eat available, which I will on a ship.
  20. This was not on X, but... When I was on HAL to Alaska in 2014, there was a shore excursions crew member on the whale watching trip I was on (they occasionally send someone on a non-full excursion a) for quality checks and b) so they can better describe it to guests who ask about it) and she said that a couple of cruises before the one I was on, one of the helicopter excursions to a glacier and sled dog camp got stranded on the glacier because fog/weather moved in and the helicopters could not get back to the glacier to pick the people up. There were people from two different HAL ship excursions as well as people from those ships but who booked privately stuck on the glacier. The dog camp employees gave up their beds for the night so that the guests had somewhere to sleep. When they were able to get down the next day, the ship-based excursions had either a smaller boat waiting on them to get them to their ship or were taken to a train station to take a train to meet their ship. Those on private excursions (from the other ship) were having to see how the company was handling getting them back to their ship. She was unclear how that turned out - if the company was able to buy passage for them on the boat or if the company had to come up with their own boat. So yes. It can happen. (I later heard an NPR podcast where they were talking with a girl who did work at one of the sled dog camps one summer and they had passengers stuck. Not sure if it was the same incident or a different one, but it does happen.)
