  1. @Galveston Cruiser - are Uber now allowed into the port area - I have read that they are not? Ta.
  2. My link ⬆️ gives the set fares. The cruise port is on Manga. It says 7.800 to the centre which is $1.59. I’m expecting to be ripped off at $5.
  3. We always stay at the Traghetto. Civitavecchia is a hidden gem with restaurants especially along the waterfront by the station or on via Giasue Carducci
  4. ⬆️ is exactly correct. Options are Tronchetto or VCE airport. Neither are “easy” for hotels. From Tronchetto you will need to take luggage on the People Mover or on a Vaporetto to get to a hotel. From the airport it would necessitate a cab ride to a soulless hotel in Mestre. Otherwise from the airport you could jump on the alilaguna to get to a nice hotel on Murano?
  5. Portovenere. The bus line to Portovenere is the 11/P (duration: about 30 minutes, cost 3 euros). One bus every 10-30 minutes. just walk across towards the funky church opposite the cruise terminal. Bus stop 🚏 is by the colonnades. Get your tickets from the tabacchi on your right as you look at the colonnade ( green awning I think)
  6. There are a few newer positive reviews on the site where people can leave reviews on their Trip… we will give them a go and report back!
  7. Emerald and above automatically get water. The number of bottles varies. If you don’t select a welcome amenity, which starts at Diamond, then you get (more) water. Emerald and above automatically get cookies 🍪- it is not anything you select.
  8. Which they charge $6/€6 per transaction…! So avoid using them wherever possible!
  9. We were never presented with anything to sign ✍️ when we purchased a drink ( apart from in Speakeasy but we knew they were not included). My bottle of champagne was left on display in my cabin in Dammam day ( but it was my birthday!) We also had issues with breakfast times.. we are not early risers so several times we went straight up the sun deck for breakfast only to be told it was closed despite the Planner saying it was open till 11. Many people were caught out too and the only option was danish/croissants in the TS lounge. I don’t know why they have stopped the all day offerings of snacks/canapés in TSL too? I agree with the Oasis comment! That whole back deck/promenade was a total waste of space… DH said it was as if they had run out of ideas so they just put a few sunloungers there! ps: I see you are going on Apex. That ship is style over substance .. but at least it has some art! Oh how I missed the wonderful art of the stairways and corridors on RCI!
  10. All RCI ships are US$ Imagine the hassle of changing the tills, the bar menus, the casinos… etc.. to a different currency every time they cross the Atlantic!
  11. Food is a necessity. Clean towels twice a day is not.
  12. In Lanzarote we docked on the other side of the harbour to expected which made our planned walk into town impossible.
  13. Ship can dock either way. The CI are particularly scenic ports imho….
  14. I personally don't need my bed remaking by someone after I have had a siesta. I can easily pull the sheets back into place myself. Even after 'mummy and daddy time' 🙂 No, ice is not our thing! It is quite cold enough with out it, and any cold drinks I want are in the fridge (wine or coke etc)
  15. Yes only one cruise port for ships of this size. You should be docked at A&B. She’s so big she spans 2 terminals!
  16. Ovation and Quantum are Quantum class. Central Park is on Oasis class which is a totally different shape/size/layout/experience
  17. I didn’t even want to know why they need the bed making twice a day…!!! Unless they are having a lot of “mommy and daddy time” 💕 We have never asked for ice. What is the need for ice? And why twice a day? What am I missing?
  18. Seriously, you have clean towels twice a day at home? If not, then there is no need for it on holiday.
  19. Has anyone booked via this local company? Any comments? We want to do the CL7 - PANAMA CANAL, CHAGRES RIVER, & EMBERA INDIAN VILLAGE http://mfm.somee.com/index.htm
  20. I already have an account on Uber that I’ve used all over the world; and set one up on Careem prior to this trip. Both accounts are linked to a credit card so the sum is deducted automatically. I use a Halifax/Monzo/Chase card that doesn’t charge any fx fees. You then get an email after the trip confirming what the fare actually was ( as they are estimates when you book); and there is an option to add a tip if you wish. One thing I did notice is that whilst a regular cab charges a additional fee when leaving the port in both Dubai and AD of around 20AED, this charge was not added to the Uber or Careem fares making them definitively cheaper! I don’t know about U or C picking you up from the airport in landing 🛬 as of course you need Wi-Fi to make the booking.. and you risk losing the Wi-Fi signal when you go outside to find the driver! I found this an issue at several of the cruise terminals!!! Had to run back closer to the ship/ terminal to look at the little map on the app to see where our driver was!!! I would say just set up an account with Uber as they are global. I’m sure regular 🚕 cabs accept credit cards. Have a fab time! Hope you get better weather 🕶️ than we had! LBx
  21. Do we know when he started/ will finish and who does he usually alternate with? Ta.
  22. Thanks. Supposedly fixed cab 🚕 fares…but gives you can idea of how cheap they should be! https://m.eluniversal.com.co/cartagena/decretan-nuevas-tarifas-para-taxis-cuanto-subio-la-carrera-minima-XF6513356
