  1. The wifi is not worth paying for. Use someone's free wifi on port days.
  2. We just got off of Spirit two weeks ago. The wifi did not work half of the time, even though I paid for the next tier above FAS.
  3. Imagine the most inconvenient time with the greatest fear of missing embarkation. That's your flight.
  4. Nothing. We stayed over in Hawaii and booked our own flights. We were inside the 75 day deviation so no refund, but I had points, so it wasn't too painful. No ramifications from NCL.
  5. On Spirit a couple of weeks ago, we skipped Kona due to expected tidal surges in the port. Same may be the case for Pride.
  6. Heart Attack. We are on Millenium northbound on August 4. Typically, that means there is a music cruise that chartered it. Those seem to be getting very popular.
  7. They already got your money whether you drink it up or not. The grats go in a pool that gets distributed.
  8. We saw Blazing Boots on Spirit two weeks ago. Not the same thing?
  9. Amazon has some very small (3" diameter) fans that plug into a USB port. We just took two on a NCL cruise and they worked great.
  10. We had one umbrella in the closet in our penthouse suite (SH) on Spirit.
  11. Our suite concierge was able to make all the appointments we needed - even specialty dining later in the cruise.
  12. In all states, there is state licensing as well as county and city licensing requirements in most areas. There are also dram shop and liquor liability laws that pass liabilty to the alcohol seller or server for serving an impaired customer that results in some disastrous event. Hawaii is particularly sensitive to cultural and environmental issues which amplify what may be found in other locales - notwithstanding the relevant social issues of the day.
  13. Recently sailed on Spirit for a 12 day cruise. First time on NCL. I found the service and staff to be very good overall. I found the food to be plentiful, but average on the whole, needing some additional creativity. More than a few instances of costs dictating menu options. We were able to enjoy Cagney's breakfast, which was very good. Silk was on par with an average neighborhood Asian restaurant. Teppanyaki, not so much beause there was no "show" from the chef, just prep the courses, put it on the plate. Cagney's dinner was very good, but not up to the prime chophouses in most cities. Onda was on par with an average neighborhood italian restaurant. The problem with Windows and Taste is that the non standard menu is rotating, thus if you find somethng really good, you can't get it again. Prime Rib night was good but you didn't get the standard creamy horseradish, you got a dollop of straight horseradish - and they wouldn't bring me sour cream.. I am in the hospitality business and F&B is entirely subjective, so my opinion is my opinion and yours is yours. I understand menu cost management very well, but I look for creativity with what you have to work with and how are the expected basics prepared and presented. We ran out of lettuce on the tenth day while docked in Honolulu, yet apparently they could not get a few cases of lettuce to finish out the cruise, thus no lettuce for burgers and the wedge salad in Cagney's was replaced with a "chef special". The entertainment and production staff was surpriaingly good. The same entertainers did at least six fully choreographed productions. The off night acts - magician - aerialists - singers were also very good. Again, very satisfied with the ship, the staff and the, service. Everyone has their own opinion and this is my experience.
  14. Just got off Spirit after 12 days and was pleasantly shocked that there weren't photogs snapping photos at every opportunity. In fact we did not have a single photo in the on board gallery. It appears that the only photo were through personal sittings.
  15. Forget it. At least on Spirit, Wi-Fi was a waste of money.
  16. Plus, when you are licensed and you've been at sea for "X" number of years, you just kind of think about those things......
  17. Of course it is after the gangway collapse. I am projecting the angle prior to the collapse, I am looking for my trigonometric tables at the moment.
  18. That's an awfully long span for what appears to be about a six inch I-Beam of aluminum on eaither side of the treads. Even in pristine condition it appears to have been quite steep for all but the heartiest of passengers.
  19. I was not aware of the 75 day rule. ALL and I mean all deviations must be requested at least 75 days prior to departure. In our case, we plan on staying several days after debarkation, but I did not contact NCL until after the 75 day limit. I ended up having to pay for our own return flights and the NCL seats will be empty. Fortunately, I had some airline credit so it was only moderately painful. Lesson learned.
  20. You also have to pay the 20% gratuity on the beverage package or you lose it.
  21. It's abaout he least costly way to get you from point "A" to point "B".
  22. If you click on the dining parts of your cruise summary, the various restaurants will be noted as "Not Taking Reservations".
