We are both in our late 60's, and have been cruising with P&O for nearly 20 years (27 cruises) My wife is a wheel chair user and we have been on Iona three times and Arvia twice, we have two other cruises booked one on each. We have sailed with all of the fleet some more than others but now Iona and Arvia are our favourites they are far better for accessibility than the rest of the P&O fleet and we love the extra dinning options. we were on Arvia in July school holidays yes it was busy, but we expected that. We used the MDR's occasionally but not all the time and found the virtual queuing reasonable at the times we dined around 7:00 waits of about 20-40 mins.

Arvia - confused on Celebration nights 13th Oct.
solentsam replied to Stu UK's topic in P&O Cruises ( UK )
My advice would be to book the chefs table it will be on the formal night so if that changes so will the chefs table booking. -
We enjoy them both, been on Iona 3 times and Arvia twice, we have two other cruises booked one on each. They are both very similar not a lot of difference for us. My wife is a wheel chair user and they are far better for accessibility than the rest of the P&O fleet we know we have been on them all. As for lifts we have the same experience what ever ship. they are busy at dinning times so.... we live with it. but what I can say is that it was far more difficult to get a lift when it was just club dinning when everyone needed a lift at those times. So they may not be everyone's favourite but they are for us now.

Does your expiry date exceed ten years from the issue date, if so you may have a problem that is the EU only recognises 10 years from the issue date so you need 9 years and 9 months or more left from the issue date. sorry if it does not make sense. i.e my passport was issued july 2017 but expiry date is feb 2028 but to the EU the expiry date is july 2027

I think you find that paying on day 2 does not save you anything its the same price as day 1 for the whole cruise. But you do get the day 1 drinks included so not paying for them separably. I maybe wrong.

Arvia dining, does it have enough places
solentsam replied to Windsurfboy's topic in P&O Cruises ( UK )
I thought a lot of people dined around 8.30 so how is it empty at 9:00 ish or are you saying there is no queues after 9:00 ? -
we ( just the two of us) have had a cabin as you described, no problem with noise.

Also just read again on 14 to 17 July

for me its not the amount on the plates but what is left behind, if they have a nearly clean plate that is fine.
-
Hi zapp I think you are right just looked it up. I always thought it was for trans a Atlantic. Good to know😉 every day is a school day lol.

Dont forget to book port cabin for the outbound cruise (POSH) if you want sun most of the day on your balcony, as for weather the above posters are correct, closer to UK weather can be unsettled but once you hit the Azores or Canaries it will be fine.

It will nothing like you get from your normal Indian takeaway or restaurant on the high street. So it may disappoint, certainly did for us. I was looking forward to it, like a curry on a Saturday night, but alas it was not. . But dont get me wrong many people enjoy it.

Booking speciality restaurants for upcoming Britannia Cruise
solentsam replied to glf2710's topic in P&O Cruises ( UK )
We were on Britannia in April, and like yourself the only booking available was for the Limelight club so that might still be the case. We could only book Epicurean and Sindhu once we got aboard. So yes they are Open but only to book on board. Have a great cruise -
Here is what I think. P&O are trying to get some fixed dining back without calling it that. only my thinking is below so not to be taken as read so if we tell you you can book in the mdr every night (the only times you will see is 6 to 6:30 and 8 to 8:30) so if we allocate say half the Tables to this we can let the other half be available as before. Plus we can freeup the ones that have not been booked if any to go to the queue. do you think that would work?

They are also uping the anti in the olive grove for Celebration Nights "The Olive Grove Pull up a chair and take your pick from the region’s iconic favourites, from Greek mezze to Moroccan lamb tagine. Tuck into iconic Mediterranean dishes and, on Celebration Nights, an exclusive menu from Local Food Hero José Pizarro."
