  1. Is the the service from SIT SRL? https://www.getyourguide.com/rome-l33/civitavecchia-port-shuttle-bus-tofrom-rome-termini-station-t223122/ We are thinking of using it from the port to Rome. It seems very reasonable at only 16 euros. Would anyone know about this service: https://www.civitavecchiashuttleexpress.com/shared-shuttle-service-from-to-civitavecchia-cruise-port.html
  2. We are also planning a Mediterranean cruise that will end in Rome. It is the first time for us to sail in Europe and to visit Rome. So we are also nervous about transportation options. I read a lot about the trains but prefer not to have to deal with lugging my luggage. Does anyone have feedback on the following transportation options? Civitavecchia Shuttle Express (looks like you can share a van with a total of 8 people. And even if 8 people don’t reserve, they will charge the same price). https://www.civitavecchiashuttleexpress.com/shared-shuttle-service-from-to-civitavecchia-cruise-port.html Bus Shuttle https://www.getyourguide.com/rome-l33/civitavecchia-port-shuttle-bus-tofrom-rome-termini-station-t223122/ Thank you so much for any input!

  4. Yep…so the ship’s staff can leave delivered food and pick up dirty dishes.
  5. Hope you’re able to stay safe and healthy!
  6. Thanks for the tip! I checked my credit card and there wasn’t a pending charge so I went into the Medallion app and canceled the order to ship to my house. After I did that, I could see the order in my order history as canceled and I was back in the blue lane. I placed a new order to pick up at port and I’m back in the green land and no charge. We don’t mind picking up at the port like we used to with the cruise card. One less thing for us to remember to pack.
  7. Looks like I was charged. Maybe because I placed it after the cutoff date? It’s okay…only $10. And I didn’t see an option to go back to unselect the shipping option.
  8. We booked with Princess Plus in September 2022 for an April 2024 cruise. Was curious to see if we would be charged the $10 since we have the “old” Princess Plus so I selected the option to have it sent to us. It showed $10 shipping will be charged and now I can’t find a way to go back to select pick up at the port. So guess I’m paying $10 for shipping.
  9. Following along and enjoy your updates and pics so far! I was on the Discovery in September and will be sailing on her again in April. She’s a beautiful ship. I love the Love Boat theme horn….heard it on the Royal and Regal. But never heard it when we were on the Discovery in September. Good to know she has it. We probably just always missed it.
  10. Wow! This is a great service. We’ll be there Tuesday/Wednesday so we’ll miss this one too. But I’ll keep the info for future trips. Thank you!
  11. Yes! Thank you! That was it. Darn we are there mid week. Otherwise, this would’ve have been great for my elderly mom.
  12. Is there a free trolley that goes around Long Beach?
  13. Are there a lot of dining options within walking distance of the Doubletree?
  14. That’s an easy “no thanks” for me. Not tempting at all…and I LOVE desserts.
  15. Yes…very true…there is no option in the Medallion App to use OBC for specialty dining. I have been able to use Specialty Dining credit to book in the app before. And as you mentioned is different than OBC. I bet the website is just not correct.
  16. I know it’s been discussed about not being able to use OBC pre-cruise (other than excursions) but this says OBC can be used pre cruise for specialty dining via the Medallion app. https://www.princess.com/plan/fcc-onboard-cruise-credits/ but…it didn’t work for me today.
  17. Well….I guess that was too easy after all because I happened to check my credit card and I saw pending charges for the specialty dining reservations 😲. Guess that means I couldn’t use OBC as the Princess rep said. I think I’ll just book onboard.
  18. I called Princess and selected the option for “Dine My Way”. The Princess rep canceled the original set of separate reservations and made one reservation for the 3 of us. Didn’t have to use credit card and said we could pay with our respective OBC on the ship. That was too easy!
  19. Has anyone had any luck recently using the Medallion App to make specialty dining reservations, prior to the cruise for people in different rooms, using each person’s OBC? I was able to do this for a cruise this past September. It took the OBC from each appropriate person’s account. But this time, it won’t let me. It is forcing me to use a credit card. The only workaround via agent on Chat was to make separate reservations at the restaurant for the same time. We’re hoping we can go on embarkation day to request a joint table for the 3 of us.
  20. Yeah….can you imagine… It’s not uncommon for people to share an appetizer or share a bite to taste with a tablemate/friend. But when it comes to the “premium desserts”, they’ll say, sorry I can’t let you have a bite; not even a small taste. Kinda like no sharing with drink package. They’ll need the dessert police!
  21. Our room steward on the Discovery said that if they come in first place in the survey, they get a day off. She said the last one, she came in second. They work so hard. I could tell she really treasured that day off. She didn’t say how frequently, they tally them up. I was assuming It was done for each cruise. But that’s just a guess.
  22. We enjoyed our dinner at Bistro Sur La Mer on the Discovery. Service was great. Enjoyed all the dishes except the Ile Flotantte. It definitely was not like the version I had in France. But the waitstaff was so nice and let me order a different desert (the one he recommended) and I really enjoyed it.
  23. We’ve done the 7 day New England/Canada cruise round trip from New York and loved it. We enjoyed all the ports — Boston (Freedom Trail, Quincy Market, the North End), Newport (the mansions!), Bar Harbor (Acadia National Park, blueberry pie, lobster!), Halifax (Peggy’s Cove), Saint John (the famous river that changes direction). We enjoyed lobster or lobster rolls in almost every port. And if you’re lucky, you can see the beautiful fall foliage.
