  1. On my April cruise HAL had let one of the TV contracts expire. I was really bummed as my sailing had 8 sea days and nothing binge worthy. Unfortunately the Zaandam is still on the old system. I wish they had upgraded that. That really is a part of modern life that HAL hasn’t really caught on to. however this cruise is port intensive so maybe TV is not so important
  2. Thank you guys. I signed up. Now this is what I will do. Starting July 1 if I use my discover card through my PayPal account I get another 5% off. Sweet!
  3. I am sorry your mother is not well. Go to the Insurance section of the forum. Steve of trip insurance . com is always willing to answer the most difficult questions. He will even communicate with you by email so he can get the facts of your particular policy. https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/499-cruisetravel-insurance/
  4. I think a flex space would have been more innovative. Popup shopping, restaurants, lecture halls, craft venues. A true multipurpose “neighborhood”
  5. I have never seen theatre on HAL even before the new multimedia experience. I don’t even know why they continued the tradition of having that space. At least on my last cruise I saw some decent movies in the theatre.
  6. That is interesting. So the gift cards are refundable through a back door.
  7. I looked at those cards and couldn’t figure out what the points thing was about and how much effort was needed.
  8. I sailed in April on my first booster (October). As nerdy as I am I studied the information and judged the immunity loss curve for my personal profile, I sent the DH, whose profile is a bit more fragile, to the doctor for an antibody test. Using that information we decided to wait. I sail Saturday so got my booster 10 days ago. He will get his in August right before the Alaska sailing (he is not sailing this month)
  9. These entertainment discussions are interesting but always fail to realize that what you may like is not what others like. I am sure there are focus groups and surveys used to find what entertainment expected curve intersects with the price curve. Some people want “premium” at any cost, others want the best value for their dollar. No matter where you are on this scale it is a reasoned decision, one decision is not better than another. The business serving customers needs to determine where they can maximize their profits with the assets they own. As a business owner I can tell you that opportunity to acquire assets at a “good” price can direct your business model. BTW, I do not like production shows. If I want to see theatre I will go to theatre.
  10. I think the very best thing to do, if you can, is get your booster a few weeks prior to sailing. It is the one thing that has been proven to work. Problem is that immunity wains after a few months
  11. I assume you are having electronic delivery, so no there is no reason. They are good as soon as they are purchased. I am hoping we might get a July 4 sale
  12. Did you ever get an extension on your FCC. I don’t think FCC is transferable but certainly there would be people interested in buying other’s FCC. Way crazy idea - HAL could auction off FCCs.
  13. Love Tamarind. If it is not available on the website you can try calling guest services. When boarding the ship do ask. They can waitlist you.
  14. I know the last assigned debarkation is 9 ish. 10 am seems cutting it very close and adding stress to the crew.
  15. They now are set up for everyone can have their own account. One thing to know is if both you and your wife are on your credit card she won’t be able to do much with the finances at the front desk. I went to pay off a bit of our bill and couldn’t because it was “his” credit card. Next time I will have my own credit card or I will be the primary. i have never used the tv, I use the app
  16. I really don’t understand how they can’t see the difference between a company that tries to pay its bills and one that runs like a fugitive so it doesn’t have to pay at the pump. Serving me caviar doesn’t blind me to reality. I have a great Travel Agency where they do their best to keep tabs on the financial condition of the companies whose products they offer. That means I don’t sail, tour or fly with some but it probably saves me grief
  17. @bbstx I have recently converted to dress and skirts for touring. This one thing has lightened my load. I now have quite as few viscose dresses, love them. I truly admire people who can do cube wardrobe packing but it is not in my genes.
  18. Call them and be sure. The Sheraton might even be more convenient and I think they have a service also.
  19. I have done it twice by sea, a third time next week and about 6 times by land. You can’t beat eastern Canada. It is very laid back, the food is great and the scenery is lovely. The only thing better would be the cruise that does the Saint Lawrence but then also goes north to the Canadian Maritimes. It is not as exotic as some of my other ventures but it is one of the few places I keep going back to over and over again.
  20. I was able to get a test at the Hilton Schiphol. It was quick and easy and a very clean location. Perhaps you could stop in there as you exit the airport. The front desk can point you in the right direction. This was an unadvertised location, cost $35 your hotel in Rotterdam may have a similar setup.
  21. @DaveOKC I just used your formula for an upsell than played a little more hardball for a better location. Thanks for all of your advice. I will report back in a few weeks whether I was credited with points for the upgrade
  22. It will change before you go. I have never seen 10 am but if they can be ready that quickly, why not?
