  1. This is very doable. I do agree that if you can self-disembark with your luggage and get in the taxi line before the masses get off, it would be wise to do so. Also, there's a good chance that in the next 6 months Air Canada could change the departure time yet again or add an additional later flight closer to what you originally had. In that case you can call and ask that they move you back to that flight since that is what you originally purchased. Just something to watch maybe once per month between now and then.
  2. Always select your cabin. Always book a cabin that has other cabins above and below it. Never book a cabin that has public areas above or below it including restaurants, kitchens, the pool deck, casino, nightclubs & lounges and never above the ship's main theater. If you bid on one of those upgrade offers, you never know where you're going to end up.
  3. You might want to call MSC to find out if they know which port will be used for Stockholm. When we were on MSC Seaview in 2021 we did not dock in Stockholm at all, we docked in Nynäshamn, Sweden which is about a half hour south of the city. MSC offered an excursion from Nynäshamn to Stockholm for a fee that consisted of roundtrip bus service only with about 4-5 hours of free time on your own. We used that and spent the day at the Abba Museum and the main shopping street. There is also a suburban train station near the port LINK but we did not investigate how to get to it or what the train timings were. Certainly if your ship docks in the city you will be much closer to everything and have more time.
  4. I run nightclub blog Orlando Entertainment News and posted this article in April of the White Party aboard MSC Splendida. They're all basically the same no matter the MSC ship: https://www.orlandoentertainmentnews.com/?p=21551 Within this article is a link to the White Party on MSC Seashore last year and within the second article are links to White Parties on MSC Meraviglia and MSC Preziosa in prior years. These should give you plenty of ideas plus you'll see it's mostly very casual.
  5. Many Rock and EDM events charter the entire ship so it would not be possible to be onboard if you didn't book it through the designated vendor. But it is certainly possible to be on a sailing where a company is holding a corporate event but did not book-out the entire ship. I'm not aware of any website that tracks that kind of information since it would not be publicly available.
  6. That's great news. I had always encountered Pay At Entry at Port Canaveral but my last cruise was surprised to find Pay on Departure. Only makes sense. Everyone arrives for their cruise at different times throughout the day but everybody leaves the cruise at basically the same time!
  7. That is correct. I always complete it way ahead of time but only sign and date it on the morning of sailing.
  8. Correct. You can come and go as you please in Dubai upon arrival and could even "check-out" anytime that day if you wanted to. Or you can remain on the ship for the 7th night and permanently depart the morning of Day 8, just as though the ship had just arrived there. There is no actual arrival on Day 8 as the ship is already there.
  9. If you're not back on the ship by midnight, they're going to tattle to your parents.
  10. Doesn't appear to be any dry dock. Appears that whatever renovations were going on were going on during operations. When you look at their website, normal sailings take place every other day in June and beyond.
  11. I've never understood why none of the major hotel corporations ever bought the place, renovated it and turned it into a great airport hotel. Very odd for a big city airport to not have a name brand hotel.
  12. 1) Taxi(s) or rideshares to airport. 2) Taxi(s) or rideshares to Government Center Metrorail station and then Metrorail direct to airport.
  13. When you select MANAGE YOUR BOOKING at the top of the webpage, you're given two options. One is to review your cruise via your booking number and the other is to log-in to your account. If you don't already have a MSC account, be sure to create one. When you log-in via your account, there is a section entitled "Already Purchased" which will answer your question. (Please note that it may be necessary to link your cruise confirmation number after logging-in.)
  14. Sad that you had to do this. Even though the solo fare was twice the price, you only had to pay taxes for one person. Now you're paying taxes for two people. As recently as last year MSC was known for not gouging solo travelers but it appears that's no longer the case.
  15. Recommend you check with Reception that you're only being charged the daily service charge for 2 passengers, not 3. We decided to depart MSC Seaview a few days early back in 2021 and had to complete the same form. I was on MSC Splendida last month out of Jeddah, Saudi Arabia and did not notice the crew being overly tired or unable to converse in English. They likely changed out a lot of crew in Istanbul.
  16. Both mainline toll plazas along TOLL SR528 (Beachline Expressway) are operated by the Central Florida Expressway Authority and have manned cash lanes. Don't bother with the time and hassle of a toll transponder when you can just pay with cash bills or coins.
  17. Yes, onboard credits can only be used on your onboard account. Things purchased in advance of the cruise have to be paid for when you purchase them.
  18. The time that boarding begins is dependent on how many passengers were on the cruise prior to yours. The busier it was, the later the new boarding begins because there are more rooms to clean. Nonetheless, boarding is not very late. When they announce boarding, those nearest the gangway can more quickly get in the boarding queue. To me, it's not worth $22 extra.
  19. Wear black jeans and no one will even notice.
  20. I still do cruises on all lines so to me it's about variety. All the MSC ships in the American market are very new and beautiful. But we've done MSC cruises out of Martinique, Dubai (twice) and Jeddah that you just can't do on other lines. And with those unusual home ports, spectacular destination ports too. And yes, the prices are (usually) pretty impressive too.
  21. Anything near the port is going to be congested. My recommendation would be to take a taxi or rideshare to the Rental Car Center at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport and pick up your car there. Every rental company has a location there and are staffed for large volumes of passengers. You can then hit the road right away.
  22. If you're in Cocoa Beach then you'll just be a few minutes from Port Canaveral. I assume you'll be beachside and would travel north on SR A1A through Cape Canaveral to Port Canaveral. Might be a few commuters headed to Orlando on the road but I doubt you'll run into any heavy traffic.
  23. MSC & Costa do that; the others not as often. It allows numerous passengers to do their 7-nights from a port closest to their homes. I think it's a great idea and I'd love to see some the cruise lines in the U.S. try the same thing; for instance a cruise originating in NYC that stops at Port Canaveral could have passengers originate in Florida and have NYC as one of their ports.
