  1. Having the FH lounge was great but being that low can be a pain. There was almost always a low vibration and you also felt ever shift.
  2. Reservations are not required but they may shorten the wait on the larger ships if they are running at a higher capacity. You can make a reservation a head of time and see if they are needed once you board. The busy time is usually right after a show gets out.
  3. Usually what the supermarkets will do is try to sell them live and after a certain period just try to sell the tails. Not frozen.
  4. Why discarding the Escape? Many feel its the perfect NCL ship in terms of public spaces to passenger capacity. Its not going to have the go cart tracks that the other ships will have but it does have a lot of what a 21-22 year old will like.
  5. I can't even log in to the app for the last couple of days. Says they have my info but can't bring it up right now.
  6. Agreed. I didn't even know NCL was trying this out on the Prima until it was mentioned here. On almost all of the cruise line menus, there really ends up being 1 or 2 entrees that I would possibly pick. On the new NCL menu, I would pick any one of the entrees or even do the build your own pasta. The hope is that if the kitchen staff is making the same dishes every night that the quality and consistency would be better but we shall see.
  7. I have not said on the Prima but I like the look of the new menu. On the old menu, there was a bunch of entrees that didn't interest me at all. Every entree on the new menu is something I would order if I was eating out. Well maybe on the veal but I would give it a try on the ship since its free. I also like that they give you a bunch of side options instead of just what every is listed in the entree. The build your own pasta is a great idea also. I am sad that there is no prime rib though.
  8. Yes but its a larger menu with a whole section just for seafood, a build your own pasta section and higher end options. Cruisers on the Prima so far have said they enjoyed the new set menu. Link below for those that want to take a look. https://profcruise.com/norwegian-prima-dining-menus/
  9. If you are ok with the music, Tropicana Room is the way to go. Its larger so there is usually not a wait and it just feels like what a cruise dining room should feel like. Taste and Savor feel more like a land based restaurant. Also, all the bars on the waterfront have an outside area. You can grab a drink and relax while watching the waves go by. I know you are looking for more of a relaxing cruise but I highly recommend checking out Syd's on one of their show nights. There is usually a couple of nights where the house band has their scripted show and those are the best. The other nights are usually Karaoke and when the cover band from the theatre plays there.
  10. You need to have two people to ride and the weight of the pair need to be over a certain amount. This means that smaller kids can't ride together and usually need a parent to ride with them. Its a boomerang slide which means it drops down, goes up a wall and then down the exit path. If there is not enough weight, it might not clear the dividing wall.
  11. Getaway is a great ship so don’t feel bad that it was the only ship that fit your schedule.
  12. They just started to allow booking shows before boarding on certain ships but they only started for December sailings. Its only been about two weeks since they opened up it up.
  13. Sailed the Liberty OTS back in June. This ship was the one I was most excited to sail out of Galveston for the longest time. I will say I was a little disappointed but still had a great cruise. She is in need of a dry dock but is still clean. The solarium wasn't used a lot on our cruise but it is nice if you want to get away from the crowds at the main pools. The main pools were no different than what you will find on most cruise ships. My kids are older so they didn't use the splashzone but it looked like there was a lot to do there. They loved the water slides/flowrider. The tube slide is one of the best slides on a cruise ship. Food was about what you expect. Its going to be hit or miss. I will say the desserts were all pretty bad in the MDR. I don't like that they pretty much turn everything into a pudding. On my cruise the nightly activities were lightly attended. We spent most of our time in the Star Lounge listening to the house band there but they didn't really have a good flow. They would get the crowd going for a few songs and then want to talk for 5 minutes with everyone. The Schooner Bar was a fun time with the piano player. We checked out Olive & Twist one night but didn't really enjoy it. Personally, I sailed her once and don't need to do it again but I did have a great cruise on her. It just is not going to have all the bells and whistle you find on the newer ships.
  14. Based on the screen shot, the Adult Beverage package is the Premium Beverage Package as a different name. The Plus package says upgrade so I am sure you got it right. You would probably know if you are paying the full price on the Plus package. It’s $138pppd plus 20% so on a 7 day cruise it’s an extra $2300 on top of the cruise fare.
  15. In the T&C it limits one entree in only Cagney’s and Le Bistro. Has anyone tried getting two in the other restaurants? Not that I need two entrees but just wondering why they were so specific in the T&C.
  16. It depends on the normal run time of the show if it will be different on the ship. The cruise lines like to keep their shows to between 60-90 minutes so they will condense some of the longer shows. Six is normally has a 80 minute run time so it could be the full show.
  17. I don’t get your blanket statement on the value. Just running a comparison of NCL and RCI for example. A May 7 day virgin island cruise in a balcony for 2 on the Escape and the Symphony OTS came back with this pricing: NCL - $2,666 all in with drink and dining gratuities. RCL - $2,968 If I want to add the drink package to RCI, that is another $1,100. I am booked on a 4 day in December on the Oasis of the Seas. It’s $1,200 for two in a balcony and I bought the drink package for $660. I was considering a 5 day on the Encore and it was only $200 more and included drinks and the dining package. I am doing the Oasis because We haven’t been on the Oasis class yet and I don’t feel like paying $6000 for my family to do the Allure out of Galveston. NCL is not always going to be the best value but to say it’s never the best value is wrong.
  18. While usually true, there are instances where the new sale offered does affect the pricing. For example, I was watching a spring break cruise for 2020 on the Getaway. NCL started a Kids Sail Free promotion and my balcony for 4 dropped $1000 over night.
  19. I am a comparison shopper when I am booking a cruise and find that NCL is usually right in the range of the other mass market lines. Some times NCL is a little higher and sometimes a little lower to comparable cruises. I also will factor in the perks you get. If NCL ends up being $400 to $500 more than say a RCI cruise but I know I am going to spend $1000 for the RCI drink package, I see NCL as the better value.
  20. If its not there you can do it yourself in the manage my cruise section. You just need their reservation number and birthdate. There is a link under your points that says add another cruise.
  21. You are comparing a boutique cruise line to mass market cruise lines. You are going to find a lot of things different that are going to probably bother you if you are going to go in with a negative attitude.
  22. I have done NCL, Carnival and RCI and they all had guests wait until at least 1-1:30 for their cabins. Carnival actually lets you pay extra if you want your cabin before that time. Related story My Mom actually just got off RCI's Liberty OTS. They were letting guests know that rooms would not be ready until after 1:30 but you could stop by and pick up your keycards to start making purchases(they leave the keycard in an envelope outside the room). She went down and the Steward made a huge deal about it and even called their manager down to chastise her about going to the room early.
  23. Yes and no. The cruise ships stock there bars the same as they do at any other port except for one key difference. While in Texas waters the Texas Alcohol Beverage Commission forces the cruise lines to sell liquor from only Texas distributors. That is why there is a limited menu for RCI on the first day until they get into international waters. Its also why Carnival will not allow you to use their drink package on the first day. RCI eats the extra cost to give out drinks in Texas waters but Carnival does not.
  24. Just noticed that you are coming in tonight. Corkscrew is closed on Tuesdays.
