  1. Yeah, I guess if they don't do much testing on board there may not be an increase in quarantines. That said...... 20% positive at the end of 25 days is kinda frightening for me. I would venture to say that if there was no pre-cruise testing this number would be even higher. Cruising in today's world is an interesting proposition with no right of wrong answers. Each person must make their own decision and it's no surprise that the elimination of pre-cruise testing will be met with both cheers and jeers.
  2. This is the important question! If they are still testing on board and isolating positives and close contacts, this change will likely result in more people being quarantined on ship. Not a good thing in my view.
  3. I can't imagine any way having a film crew onboard would interfere with paying customers🥴
  4. Some pros say the time to buy speculative stocks is when it's all doom and gloom, and everyone is running for the door. On the other hand, never put money into speculative stocks that you can't afford to lose.
  5. OK, so I took a look at the TripAdvisor reviews. You're not alone. Most of the reviewers seemed to be thrilled by the experience. Once again, I find myself odd man out😕
  6. I'm a bit surprised nobody has mentioned the Blarney Stone. I drove by the castle and didn't bother to stop. Waiting in line just to lie on my back and kiss a rock? Why?
  7. True, Starlink's customer service stinks! However, for those of us in rural areas where there are no other options for high-speed internet, Starlink is a godsend. If you're struggling with really slow internet, you might consider signing up for Starlink (in many areas there is a waiting list).
  8. I can understand how aggravating this can be, but I can see that this situation is prime for finger pointing between the cruise line and the ground porters (not Celebrity employees). To be honest, I'd ask myself if the aggravation of trying to get compensated is worth it - life is short, that's me. Since it's a new suitcase, it may be more productive to look at the manufacturer's warranty. Some of the better manufacturers will cover damage to the wheels.
  9. I believe Starlink will be able to provide much improved speed for a more modest price. I currently use Starlink at home and it's been a godsend for those of us with no other options for high-speed internet. They have begun launching their newer satellites that support laser intersatallite communication. This will allow them to relay internet signals from the middle of the ocean to land.
  10. It seems they are ready to follow now..... Cruise Lines Call for CDC to Drop Covid Testing
  11. Given this latest news, I'd say it's the former...... Cruise Lines Call for CDC to Drop Covid Testing
  12. So it seems you may soon be the one who has to stop cruising and I doubt cruise lines will be using your suggested ad. Cruise Lines Call for CDC to Drop Covid Testing
  13. This applies to so many things - laws included.
  14. As a Starlink user all I can say is this would be major leap forward for onboard internet👍
  15. Wow, only took the CDC 48hrs to decide to retract their guidance. It's refreshing to see any government agency admit a mistake. CDC removes mask recommendation from monkeypox travel alert: 4 updates (beckershospitalreview.com)
  16. I won't cruise until this is a thing of the past. I've got a 28-day cruise booked for Dec'23 and if there are still reports of mask requirements being invoked mid-cruise, I'll be canceling. As for it being an overreaction.... didn't the CDC announce a couple of days ago that they are now recommending wearing masks when traveling DUE TO MONKEYPOX! 45 cases in the USA, no deaths and it's not easily transmitted, and they are recommending masks?
  17. 6 dogs! My retirement gig is owning a cat boarding facility. We very occasionally have a client who has 6 cats, but 6 dogs I suspect is very rare - especially in Oceanside, CA. (my father was the construction manager when Leisure Village in Oceanside was built)
  18. I agree. I've booked during the 3-Day Sale in the past and the pricing was the lowest (I.e. couldn't find a lower fare to reprice right up to departure date). However, the last couple of years the pricing/prerqs haven't been that special.
  19. Sometimes there's a difference between what CAN be done (it's in the contract) and what SHOULD be done (good customer service/relations).
  20. It kinda sounds like you're implying that someone who dislikes a "famous" piece of art lacks "culture". I'm pretty sure this wasn't your intention.
  21. I would agree except HAL has a 45 day cruise on the Zuiderdam (capacity 1,964) in Oct of this year that has an overnight in Bora Bora. Since the new capacity regulations took effect in January, it would be incredibly dishonest of HAL to have not revised their itinerary if they know they will not be stopping in Bora Bora. That's why I'm speculating that they are reducing their capacity on this sailing to 1,200, but I really don't know.
  22. I've looked at this itinerary, I like that it has an overnight in Bora Bora. Since the Zuiderdam has a capacity of 1,964 passengers and Bora Bora limits passengers to 1,200, how does HAL pull this off? Are they limiting the ship occupancy to 1,200?
