  1. Captain Leo is great. Would be happy to cruise with either of them.
  2. Cakebread, an appellation specific Pinot that retails for $45+ is hardly entry level. The Jackson wines are generally “California” I call that entry level. Unless of course it is made by perhaps Siduri or Hartford 😆
  3. We board Eclipse on the 11th. Other than the menu in Luminae how is the overall service including wine? The server we had in May is on holiday and the somm has moved to Ascent.
  4. Back to Lodi Zin…if you like Lodi try some from El Dorado or Amador county. We loved them when we first moved to El Dorado county but after a few years they were just too much for everyday. I like something I don't need to have with food. Personal Preference is Santa Lucia and Russian River Chard or Pinot! So the Mer Soleil they have had onboard works for me. I’ll see of they still have it on a week. The Cakebread Pinot in Luminae I believe, is a thing of the past i was told I drank the last bottle 😆 Cheers
  5. California wines are plentiful and available, 2020 is the only recent year where harvesting and bottling were a challenge. 2023 harvest was in many places later, but this season wouldn’t affect what is currently on ships.
  6. If Nia is the hostess, she most likely won’t let shorts in after tonight. And I wouldn’t be surprised if she mentioned that to them.
  7. For our upcoming cruise, our TA was able to get us moved within the same category after our move-up bid was accepted. There were several staterooms still available at the time. I asked the same question on FB and most people said “no” so I was pleasantly surprised.
  8. I will pass this on to him when we see him in 2 weeks! We find the bartenders at Passport hit or miss, he is a great addition. When we first met him he was in the martini bar. Be sure to mention him in your post cruise survey!
  9. We were on Solstice in Feb, LA, Catalina, Cabo, San Diego, LA. Customs in SD was 45-60 min. No assigned times. I would say that was average unless you hit it just right!
  10. Did you by chance meet Made at the Passport bar? We have kept in touch with him over the years, we don’t usually go to the passport bar but on our last cruise, we did just to see him.
  11. @Stockjock Glad you are happy with the WCB. The mixologists are different from August, it’s usually our favorite bar depending on who is making the drinks! How was customs/immigration in San Diego? Did it take long? In Feb it was a time consuming process.
  12. Nice to read this. We did a move to a sunset SS and were assigned to deck 12. Surprisingly our TA was able to get this changed to a corner on deck 9.
  13. Shame you wouldn’t sail on EC or an older one. We’ve spent 60+ nights onboard since the restart. The crew is excellent and despite being a bit dated she is well maintained …although the toilet experience by Stockjock is concerning.
  14. It looks like you did an excursion of some sort in Cabo? Did I miss what it was? Did tenders over night while you were in Cabo?
  15. Thanks for your posts! We cruise in a couple of weeks. The question has been asked on another social media group re tender schedule for overnight in Cabo… From previous experience in think they run overnight, just less frequently? Also, do you have 1 or 2 chic nights and when… Have a great cruise.
  16. Bev pkg for our upcoming Eclipse cruise are currently 50% off. Perhaps go to the roll call for your specific cruise and ask if someone can tell you the cost.
  17. The Aqua SS on Eclipse that I see available for our upcoming cruise are former SS2 under the oceanview. Does anyone know if the shower has changed or is it the same tub/shower without the showerheads in a reqular Aqua cabin? Thanks
  18. Please let us know how it all works out. Too many people are willing to fly and cruise now when they have Covid, thank you for doing the responsible thing.
  19. I booked a cruise yesterday that departs in 3 weeks. I have been unable to place a bid, I emailed and was told I would receive a link allowing me to bid within 72 hours. I guess that means someone will tick the “allow upgrade box” 😊
  20. We usually drop our bags in our room, and head to the muster station, it takes a couple minutes for them to scan your sea pass card. You’ll need to watch the video first though. Cruised on EC in Aqua at the end of August , we were told we could only order the daily things (french onion soup, shrimp cocktail, etc) from the MDR. If we had a dietary restriction, our waiter said he would check with the manager to accommodate us. YMMV but I would mention your wish for the traditional Thanksgiving menu on day 1, so you can make other arrangements if necessary.
  21. My experience looking at EC for Nov 6 nights total price for 2 Aqua price went down approx $80 total with no tips incl. SS guarantee $65 less no tips and loss of $600 OBC (that makes huge diff). 😠
  22. Spicy Mangotini at Sushi on 5. vodka based with mango foam.
