  1. Obviously by the time Ken boarded they knew he had the required number of days. But the poster indicated that there was notice before the cruise. So I was curious, for example, if this notice was for a cruise after some cruises that had yet to be taken and Princess was assuming they would occur or had the person already completed the cruises to make the next for sure the one with the 500. (By the way, somehow it has been a long time since the two of you and the two of us have been on the same cruise.)
  2. In fact, in the past, if you had pre-purchased shore excursions with refundable OBC pre-cruise, when the cruise started effectively (not actually) the excursions were automatically cancelled and then immediately rebooked using any available non-refundable OBC first.
  3. At what point was Princess 100% sure that the 500th day would be on this cruise? In other words, when did you complete (not book) the cruise that would make this the one with your 500th?
  4. I wonder how many potential customers will not book Princess after seeing this show.
  5. Tuesday CCL stock was the most active stock when looking at NYSE, Nasdaq, and Amex exchanges.
  6. Some people have posted "yes" and some have posted "no." But if you get the 50% discount back as OBC, it is supposed to be refundable OBC, so need need for creative ways to not lose it.
  7. The view from one stock analyst about CCL stock: Since the announcement of the company's relaxed protocols in mid-August, aligning the company towards land-based vacation alternatives, booking volumes for all future sailings are considerably higher than strong 2019 levels. Carnival added that third-quarter 2022 ended with $7.4 billion of liquidity, including cash and borrowings available under the company's revolving credit facility.
  8. Just call Princess and buy it speaking with a Princess rep.
  9. Both, but I am not able to suggest an amount as I have no experience with this.
  10. I remember when full suites had their own Princess supplied computer in them with unlimited usage. I remember when Platinum/Elite passengers had unlimited usage for computers in the Internet Cafe.
  11. You will likely have two people involved. One who is a port employee from curb through check-in. One who is a Princess employee from terminal to your cabin.
  12. Passengers with the Plus or Premier package cannot remove Crew Appreciation from their folios or reduce the Crew Appreciation amount. They can tip additional amounts privately if they wish. Princess expects 75% of passengers will have one of these packages.
  13. Before Anytime Dining (AT) existed, passengers in the dining rooms had the same waitstaff each evening. Princess had a suggested amount for tipping waitstaff and cabin stewards. Passengers would tip in cash on the last evening often using envelopes available at the Purser's Desk. (Often the last evening had less people eating in the dining room so people could avoid the embarrassment of not tipping that evening.) When AT was introduced, those doing AT might have different waitstaff each evening and thus tipping the last evening could mean the staff receiving the cash tip had only served the passenger that one evening. So the answer to this was to set up the Auto-tip with the initial amount being the sum of the amounts suggested by Princess before AT existed. If someone reduced or removed the auto-tip, then the cash tips could not be kept by the recipients but were instead turned into to the pool for eligible employees. But there have been several recent changes: a) The Plus (and now also the Premier) package was introduced. These packages included the tips and the passenger could not have these tips reduced or eliminated. b) Princess expects 75% of the passengers to have one of these packages, and staff no longer have to have cash tips checked to see if tips have been removed or reduced and thus can keep any cash tips they are given. My guess it was not worth the efforts to check 100% of cash tips to verify that the tipper had a package or did not have a package but kept the Auto-tip at the full amount in order to find the relatively few passengers who reduced or eliminated the Auto-tip. c) The tipping pool was changed from individual ships to sharing fleetwide. So if someone removed auto-tips to "punish" a cabin steward for poor service, the cabin steward would receive about a penny a day less or about 7 cents less for a week long cruise. Of course staff fleetwide would also get the same reduced income. Since the income from tips would go to the staff, there would be no effect on taxes since the tip money would not be income to Princess.
  14. The statement "Only shareholder obc can be used before the cruise" meant other types of OBC could not be used. (Refuted in other posts) It did not mean credit cards, gift cards, etc. could not be used/
  15. No, the Medallion does not do so much more. There is only one function it has other than what a cruise card had. It allows the ship's computer to locate where you are (actually where the Medallion is) on the ship. Anything else that is part of "so much more" is done with the Medallion app on your digital device or by using your cabin TV or with screens located around the ship.
  16. It was not in any of my posts that 250 minutes was mentioned. My spouse and I both would get the free Internet minutes in the past, so on a 7 day voyage, we had a total of 300 minutes. However, we do not spend much time on the Internet while cruising, so 300 minutes was more than enough. On a voyage of any length, we never used up all of our free minutes. Next year we are on a 33 day Princess cruise. For each one of us to have Internet access will cost $165 *2 = $330. That is $330 we would not have had to spend in the past. That is not small change. Yes, I know Internet by the minute is gone forever, but going from free to $330 is to us a loss of a benefit. Will we end up using more time on the Internet since we are now spending $330? Probably, just because we will not have to sign out and then sign in again later. But using more time does not mean spending more time. Will we be actually spending more time on the Internet than in the past? 20 minutes/day total for both of us is what it was in the past. Probably will be the same, but now for $330. That works out to about 50 cents/minute for us.
  17. My point was that Princess replaced something with a benefit value of about $75 with something with a benefit value of $35.
  18. 10% off in shops can now only be used on full priced merchandise. Note that for a 7 day cruise, Internet list price pre-cruise is now $70 and Platinum/Elite pay only $35, a savings of $35. However, note that the value of the previous free internet minutes was about 50 cents/minute, so for seven days the value for the 150 free minutes was about $75. That $75 value that used to be is now a $35 value with the current benefit. Princess wins. Loyal passengers lose.
  19. Assuming you meant pounds instead of Euros, the driver was probably correct. England has been replacing older paper currency with new polymer currency and after a couple of years, the older notes are no longer accepted although some banks may be willing to exchange them. So if that 20 pound note was paper (not polymer), it is now obsolete. https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-wales-57990329
  20. Not our reason. We liked TD because a) Same table meant after the first evening quick to get to (no waiting at the entrance to get assigned to a table and be led to it) ) and always available at the published time. b) Knowing in advance the timing is right to see the show in the Princess Theater. c) A waitstaff that knows any special dietary needs after the first evening. No need to explain the needs night after night to different servers, especially a hassle on a long cruise. d) After the first evening, having a beverage of choice waiting at the table when we arrive. e) Having the same dining companions voyage long means not having the same conversation every evening about where you are from, past cruises, etc.
  21. In the past similar promotions said the same, but reality was it was on your account as non-refundable OBC and its use was not restricted to shore excursions no matter how it was labeled..
  22. In the past there have been promotions offering xxx $$$ off EZAir airfares. These have usually been targeted to such areas as Alaska cruises or European cruises. In some cases the xxx $ did cover the full airfare, but usually did not. As with any promotion, it was for bookings made during the time of the promotion. Anyone switching to that promotion would lose any promotions from their original booking to get whatever promotions, if any, existed with the airfare promotion.
