What if cabin mate tests positive?
Oceansaway17 replied to rrraydon's topic in Royal Caribbean International
no masking does help if on a crowded ship so wear it in elevators and show rooms. I know they say masks is for other's benefit, but I feel it is also for one''s own benefit as well. I also agree if she tests positive you can still go since you were not on the other ship. She should keep her distance from you until she pretests and I would suggest if flying, you both wear masks anyways -
me too. so far, I have done 4 Caribbean cruises (3 on Oasis class) and 1 NCL. Finally, will get a change of pace next month going to Alaska and then New England. I suppose I have to check out the silly ArriCan app. But just booked the Symphony 1-week western Med from Barcelona for next June. I will have to deal with these 1-way air fares as I am doing NCL Prima from Iceland-Southampton. oh well. great new ship and itinerary.

I too like the outdoor promenade with the chairs and being close to the water. So some of the newer NCL ships have what is called WATERFRONT and on both sides will be areas to sit as well as table and chairs for some restaurants. It goes around the stern but not the bow. check it out if looking for something different and NCL has really good tasting desserts too.

Why Don't ALL Cruise Lines Test At the Embarkation Pier
Oceansaway17 replied to mcrcruiser's topic in Holland America Line
yea that would be headache and how to isolate folks who test positive. I mean the cruise lines are not in the medical business and covid is far enough along there is no need to test at the pier. -
How do you order at wonderland?
Oceansaway17 replied to jp2746's topic in Royal Caribbean International
I did wonderland and very much underwhelmed with the food but enjoyed taking photos. I was a solo customer and they recommended a couple of things. Meanwhile I watched the table nextg to me have samples of everything brought to the table. So lesson learned, at Wonderland they like a larger table of fun people, otherwise it is like begging for more in my case. And the fancy chocolate thing was just ok in taste. I did like the short ribs a lot. So I won't do Wonderland again - one and done with. Give me El Loco Fresh mexican quick food on the newer ships. -
shows on Adventure OTS
Oceansaway17 replied to Kellie in Texas's topic in Royal Caribbean International
well the show "can't stop the rock" sounds interesting. I will get to see it mid Sept. -
Just Off Star - Reykjavik to Southampton - Random Thoughts
Oceansaway17 replied to annmarz's topic in Norwegian Cruise Line
me too for my mid August 2023. I like the idea of starting in Iceland so that I can spend a couple of days in Reykjavic. Just hope pretesting is over and done with by then -
well I switched my cruise to something else as I do not wish to give them $40 went all the poorer islands in the Caribbean are not asking for money. Besides, the last time I was in Bermuda in 2016 the roads were so very crowded with cars and the downtown area looked a bit dumpy from what I remembered in 90's

Long time CCL traveler cruises RCCL for first time
Oceansaway17 replied to Tongiejayhawk's topic in Carnival Cruise Lines
I suggest before you give up on RCCL, you try the bigger ships like Oasis class and or Quantum Class. They have more to offer for entertainment and speciality restaurants. I too have sailed on various line and each of them has at least one ship that I would not go on again and others I would. -
well you could do speciality dining and if you did not prepay tips, then OBC would be used for that. However, you can decide if shops on board would be great for shopping for gifts for holidays or birthdays. Still with that much money, I would pick ONE shore excursion to go on especially if in Eastern Caribbean. St Johns is nice.

CDC no longer issuing public data of Covid on cruise ships
Oceansaway17 replied to Virginia100's topic in Celebrity Cruises
wow that sounds odd that he was able to walk around and also had to chase down his results. hmmm gives me pause on Celebrity in how they are handling this. Either that, or short on staff and it got overlooked. -
Confused on Covid Test Date Prior to Cruise from Vancouver
Oceansaway17 replied to realnice46's topic in Celebrity Cruises
I think they had concerns on the post cruise just as well and made it all one question. Canada still gives a lot of us pause also on when arrivCan will end. I have to deal with this twice once on each coast of Canada. -
NCL Epic closing spice H20 and the sports deck
Oceansaway17 replied to grillysgillies's topic in Norwegian Cruise Line
I meant removed from the plans to not build or add. NCL Prima and VIVA really look like they are going to be innovative and unique. On the Breakaway they had a presentation and more to come in September. Will be a total of 6 in the class -
yes I sometimes am just happy to stare at the water and I do enjoy the ice shows a bit more than some production shows. I love the comedy clubs too. I will go see CATS on the Oct Oasis cruise from Bayonne.

How should I handle my next review of Odyssey?
Oceansaway17 replied to RCCL Fan's topic in Royal Caribbean International
yes but yours were interesting and done well. -
well one thing is on the Breakaway I had 10511, and EVERY night I heard the shows in the theatre. The lounge is fine and has an expresso machine and a few snacks. BUT the best thing on Escape as the Thermal Spa pass. OMG really wonderful area and worth the price. Make sure you book it and you will NOT be dissapointed. Big Thasslo type pool. wow below is photo of H2O zone in back So keep this in mind, yet I do not remember having this issue on the Escape though. And you must do Teppanyaki as it is better than Izumi. Cagneys is hit or miss with the streaks. No reservations needs for main dining. There is IMHO a lot less stress with dining on NCL.

I agree. Never understood why precruise hotels, car ride or food matter unless it was unique -
Copenhagen Sailings Gone 2023?
Oceansaway17 replied to dsvd79's topic in Royal Caribbean International
yea well now the Serenade won't even do the TA. My 7 day is cancelled. No RCI is going to Oslo next year that I can tell. darn -
oh GREAT ship You will love the Waterfront area on the new NCL ships. Really nice. Atrium has lots of games and music and they Sheehans is a 24 hour restaurant. and the desserts are BETTER on NCL. They taste great.

NCL Epic closing spice H20 and the sports deck
Oceansaway17 replied to grillysgillies's topic in Norwegian Cruise Line
ok I knew one of the ships removed H2O. My favorite H2O is on Escape -
well I agree but for some reason I thought you were in the "anti Cats" group. I will look forward to my Oasis in Oct. I just did NCL Breakaway for a change and it was pretty nice ship and the food was BETTER. And technology as well, like all shows, dining, excursions could be made sitting on the bed in the stateroom on the TV. huh RCI should give this a try.
