  1. “You can please some of the people all of the time, you can please all of the people some of the time, but you can't please all of the people all of the time”.
  2. This is all quite amusing. A very wise man once said...“You can please some of the people all of the time, you can please all of the people some of the time, but you can't please all of the people all of the time”. John Lydgate Having said that, I am pleased with this new ship.
  3. Good strategy, the ambassador will have more accurate info.
  4. I love theme parks....fun fun fun. I tried to resist the new CoCo Cay as compared with the little desert island it used to be, but now I'm a big fan. Paradigm changes nothing more. I'm gonna love her.
  5. I remember back in the day when people were saying things like this about Oasis, I just laughed then. Now I laugh harder. This ship will be one of their biggest sellers. No doubt. But for the rest of you, there are always Grandeur and Vision and the old Voyager class...something for everyone.
  6. I took the comment to mean modern or expensive materially. I think it is that, I don't expect Silver Sea from RCCL. It's plenty upscale in my view. Just because they want this ship to be for everybody, family, kids and more mature adults doesn't mean it's shabby. I'll be happy with innovative, fun and attractive, traits I HAVE come to expect from RCCL.
  7. Can't be because the schedule shows a 7day departing Jan. 27th.
  8. That is a matter of personal tastse and opinion. I think it looks extremely upscale. It's subjective to say the least.
  9. We just cruised with a couple (mid 50s) who love Disney cruises, not so much kids and they said, the service is impeccable and they never saw kids if they didn't want to...so much to do in different areas of the ship for adults. I expect ICON will do the same. It looks like there are sufficient adult only or friendly areas to insure you don't get annoyed by the kiddies. I wish we had a color key on the deck plan though, I'm trying to locate the different cabin categories.
  10. I'm prepared for megabucks fares but we'll make this our swan song cruise, even if we have to sleep in a closet! I'd like to do the official inaug but we'll see....I'm salivating for that Panoramic cabin.
  11. Our check in was 10:30 to 11:00 but since Allure is bigger it makes sense to start a little later. You can wait early or wait late, however you hang. THere are no special boarding perks for Diamond now, nothing but suite guests/Pinnacles board first. But as I said, we only waited a few minutes, about long enough to connect up with the ship's wifi and watch the safety video and we were boarding, we went directly to our lifeboat and checked in and then to the centrum bar.😁 I think we arrived and sat on outside benches at about 10:00. We were walking through the doors right at 10:30.
  12. I loved everything about it. I don't need that much adult entertainment, I am way too distracted by sparkly things! LOL It has an ice rink--check, bars everywhere--check, adult pool area--check etc etc etc. Good enough for me, I just won't be spending any time aft on Boardwalk.
  13. I am so there already, I passed myself coming and going! You can bet your bippy I will be up Monday at midnight.
  14. We've brought the blow up doodles as well, we usually just toss them in the rubbish bin on way back to the ship. Have several pkgs waiting to be packed for upcoming cruises. Will use them in Lagoon Pool at the Cay in December! Perfect!
  15. Ditto, I rarely even finish my morning Latte after I've reheated it 10 times! Ouch. Once in a blue moon I will order one after dinner, but not much. I'm also mostly a winter drinker...summer is either tea or iced coffee. My cocktail of choice last month was certainly espresso martini! Love those! Mojito is my absolute go to though! MMMMMM
  16. Got the email last WEdnesday for Dec . 11 sail. Doesn't cost anything to try so I bid on Grand and Jr just a little over minimum. Happy with my current cabin, so no disappointment. Maybe we'll get lucky this time!
  17. Our cruise buds always choose around 1:00 to arrive and board, it always takes them longer than us and we are already toasted and delightful by the time they get to Boleros or the Pub.😜 And often times she is complaining about the slowness and the crowds...I always urge them to come earlier but no go. In Galveston last month, we were literally the first peeps at the check in desk getting all our papers checked (or I should say our phones since we use the app for everything), it was lovely!
  18. We will never veer from our current strategy which is to sign up for the first entry time slot: 10:30-11:00 and show up before that time. Even sitting in line outside the terminal on benches for 20 minutes or so, we were able to board within 10 minutes of our assigned 10:30 all 3 times this year. Then we relax with a Mojito and view the safety app, check in at our boat station and the rest of the day enjoy life! This was both in Port Canaveral and Galveston.
  19. There are no other choices now. No tote bags, photo frame...nada! We got strawberries too.
  20. My Diamond Plus Ste. Michele Champagne was great but the bottle of red the ambassador comped us was putrid! If they tell you they are sending you a comped bottle, it will be this brand: Beach Kite...caution!!!!! Don't open it!. These are of course totally separate from the Welcome back C&A perc which in our case was a can of warm beer...we changed that ASAP at the Ambassador's desk.
  21. WE got our denial from the loyalty ambassador well after we set sail 2 weeks ago on Grandeur.
  22. Just back last Friday from Grandeur, and we were emailed that it would be up to the ship to determine, after sailaway I finally got a message from the Ambassador that the ship was full and we did not win our bid. Exactly as I thought it would turn out.
  23. Todd and I have talked about this for years, we may plan to do it for either or when the time comes. He is much younger than I. I have printed out some of your info for him. It was very helpful. So sorry for your loss, and hope all your wonderful cruise memories sustain you in future. God bless.
