  1. YAY! My library purchased this book! I am first in line to read it. I should add that I put in the purchase request and now lots of people will have access to your book. Can you tell I’m excited?
  2. So sorry to hear that 6 is ill. Sad ending to what sounded like an absolutely lovely voyage. Thank you for sharing and all my best wishes for a light bout with Covid and a quick recovery.
  3. Just ask. They might say “yes”.

    Low salt?

There is a form on the website. Just fill it out and request low sodium meals.
  5. I have no guesses but I’m so happy this thread is awake. Thank you.
  6. Ah, well. We will miss you by about a month. We board on November 1 and disembark on the 20th.
  7. When you are on the floor you are a dancer. None of the other dancers will snicker - we were all there once. If people watching snicker don’t pay them any mind. They are not dancers. They don’t have the courage to step foot on the floor. Mister and I took a quickstep lesson (our very first) on our crossing. It was an absolute basic step. That night we did a quickstep with the absolute basic step - no one snickered or if they did we didn’t notice because we were THRILLED that we got out there and danced. I hope you’re on our voyage and crossing. We’ll all dance together!
  8. On our first TA in 2018 we were absolute beginner dancers. We were welcomed to the floor by the more experienced. One couple was rude and pushy - not just to us but to everyone. They shoved their way diagonally across the floor, not going with the flow of dance, not paying attention to other dancers. We now have nearly 5 years of dance lessons under our belts and are so looking forward to dancing in the Queens Room again. We hope to be a couple to encourage newbies to the floor. We’ve recently begun learning Viennese Waltz as we’ve reached a level where we can “keep up with the big guns”.
  9. Yes. Both people in the cabin must purchase the drinks package. As @Host Hattiehas mentioned before, there have been reports of people being able to get different levels of packages once on board but I have never seen it personally, nor have I heard of Cunard allowing only one person in a multi-person cabin to buy a package.
  10. We’ve had a break in the weather. Today’s temps are in the mid 80sF and cloudy. It’s supposed to rain but I have my doubts. It’s just lovely with the lower temperature and humidity. We are so ready for August to be over. Just 2 1/2 months until our QM2 voyage. This week we will be trying on our pre-Covid formal wear, keeping what still fits and discarding those items that magically shrunk due to covid (yes, it is covid’s fault clothing shrinks). That will give up plenty of time to buy new necessary items. Hope you all are doing well.
  11. Between the two of you will you be drinking $60 worth of drinks per day? IE 8-10 drinks each? Both people in the cabin must buy a package. To get both juice and hot beverages you must get the “premium soft drinks” package which is $30 (ok, $29) per person per day. We decided it wasn’t worth it for us.
  12. There’s a ginormous TV screen at the pool, as well.
  13. We used US dollars and no one complained.
  14. And from our crew! - Top down, left to right: Stimpy Grey Nog Ren Tennessee Mischief Elvis Grey and Elvis are half siblings from a Trap/Neuter/Release that our neighbors did 15+ Years ago. Ren and Stimpy are next. They are 11 years old. Stimpy is a mash up of Stormy and Gimpy - she came to us as a tiny kitten in a storm. Her leg was injured…Ren came from the Humane Society into a home full of Great Danes and cats and she just plonked down. We called her “Madame de Plonkadour”, shortened to “Reinette” and then just Ren, so yep, Ren and Stimpy. Mischief is our (adult) son/housemate’s cat. They came to use 5 years ago. She is the same age as Ren and Stimpy. Tennessee (Tuxedo) was tossed out of a moving car close to our house 3 years ago. We have no idea how old he is. He came to us as an adult cat who needed help. Nog (Star Trek name) is last. He came to us in 2020 as a wild feral kitten. It took us 6 months to get him to come close to us and three more months to get him to trust us. We tried to find him a forever home. I guess we are it.
  15. 82 days until we arrive in London, 85 until we board QM2. August is my least favorite month. It is so hot and miserable, no holidays or big events to look forward to. September seems too far away. I’m hiding in my house reading Christmas Murder novels and pretending our voyage is just around the corner. Hope all is well with you all
  16. We pay and then we never look again. We also don’t discuss price on board. Same with air fare.
  17. 92! 88 until we fly out (vacation starts when you leave home, right?)
  18. On Rav. If you look on the Die Hard Christmas CAL pattern projects you’ll see my project (with my little dog Dobby in the Ravatar. Maybe we already “know” each other!
  19. @ballroom-cruisers The title of this thread is “An Amusing Exercise”. It is tongue-in-cheek.
  20. @techteach I crochet and knit and quilt. I make what I think will be fun or interesting. Currently I am making a crocheted afghan based on the movie Die Hard for my husband to hopefully be done by Christmas (of some year) and knitted hats, scarves, and mittens for our QM2 voyage to Norway in November.
  21. Did you have to sign for your drinks? An abomination!
  22. I think these boards were instituted to give CC members a way to stay connected while the industry (and the world) shut down. As things get back to new normal they have served their purpose. It is nice to have an “off topic” type thread to keep in touch, though. I hope we can start something similar. It is already 90F here at 930AM in tropical hell. We’re watching disc golf and having a quiet Sunday morning, hiding in the air conditioning and dreaming of Northern Europe. Our “baby” turned 39 yesterday. Not sure how that can be, since we’re only 30 ourselves. As the Tonopah life goes on…
