  1. Am I the only one that thinks specialty dining is highly over rated? Their quality has diminished also IMHO
  2. And I remember when they included Pinnacles at this event . . .
  3. Asking this not to stir up a can of worms but curious if anyone else has heard this . . . New menus have been on Oasis since the 22nd Jan, the day I boarded, and for the 4 following weeks. My friends who just got off Sunday said their waiter told them Saturday night that the new menus were being "tweaked" and they were to report on turn around to the MDR for a briefing.??
  4. Usually open up 3 -4 wks prior to your sailing, and thru the Cruise Planner on line, not the app
  5. My husband and I cruised for over 30 years, now that he has gone it does not keep me from cruising solo. I feel completely comfortable and "at home" on a ship and can navigate my favourite ports on my own. I have never felt unsafe in any of these situations. There are a handful of ports I wouldn't go alone, so I stay on board, no issues.
  6. Boarding Jewel on the 17th. Did they say if you could choose AM or PM service?
  7. Has the $25 dining voucher for P's on Oasis/Quantum class ships disappeared as well?
  8. Personally I like a later embarkation. Rooms aren't usually ready until 1:00-1:30, so rather than dragging your carry on around the ship waiting for room to be available, you can go straight to your cabin and unload. If you sail at 5, chances are latest embarkation is 1:30-2:00. Give yourself 1 1/2 hr from Rome to Civitavecchia port, allowing for traffic.
  9. The BOGO specialty dining looks different too - doesn't include Hooked?? I would swear I used my BOGO for Hooked on both Symphony and Wonder but now you can't???
  10. You are so right, they would rather have a cabin filled with parents, 3 kids and out buying Thrill waterpark admission, all the junk in the stores, drink packages, etc. We don't provide the revenue!!
  11. Booked the 8 day Xmas for an unbelievable solo rate, and then b4b again in Jan/Feb. It was almost too good to be true at the time. No point in price checking them, those rates will never be seen again!
  12. You will be able to go online or in the app and book your show times soon, I believe it's 30days out you can start making reservations.
  13. Luckily food isn't the reason I cruise. In the mass market cruise industry, it's happening everywhere, cost cutting, food quality, staffing issues, housekeeping reductions, and the list goes on. I still love to cruise - the ports, being at sea, nightlife and entertainment, the whole social thing. I have 22 cruises with Royal booked and do not have any plans to cancel or change them. Now, should prices skyrocket beyond my comfort zone, I may have to re-assess future plans.
  14. Just spent 4 weeks on Oasis and the food was mediocre at best, in all venues. Service one week in the MDR was outstanding, the other 3 barely passable. Had maybe 2 excellent meals in CK. Serenade, Brilliance and Vision also in the last 3 months and I would say in each case food was so-so. It's across the board IMHO and each of my surveys reflected that.
  15. On Oasis for the last 5 weeks, they move the smoking section to Deck 16 solarium area during refueling on boarding day and one day during the week wherever they choose to refuel.
  16. If you book on board, the NextCruise folks have them. I scored b2b2b2b2b on Oasis out of Lauderdale for Jan/Feb 2025 at some incredible prices!
  17. 3rd week on Oasis with the new menu...no deviation to the menu period. My friend asked for cocktail sauce instead of Thai chili sauce with her coconut shrimp and was told no, they didn't make it today! HW came by to reiterate no special requests. Kids menu always has spaghetti marinara and fruit cocktail so they accommodate that. Apart from cost reduction, the speed is much quicker. First week I dined solo and was in and out in under 30 minutes! Plates appear to be pre made. The whole experience has been "dumb downed" making it very disappointing.
  18. Yes I am on Oasis also right now and it's yeshiva. Solarium is the designated kosher kitchen. And tons of kids which shocked me as well so soon after the holidays. Note to self.... never again. It feels so over crowded.
  19. The Chops filet mignon was only so so last night in the MDR, the bigger surprise was not only 18% gratuity but tax as well, making it $26. If you're not out far enough from port, you get zapped with the sales tax.
  20. When you do your online check in, available boarding times will pop up and you choose the one you want. I know many like boarding early, rush to get that first meal. My preference is later, 1:30, usually I can go straight to the cabin and dump my carry on. I hate dragging carry on around with me on the ship. The terminal isn't as busy then either. You will be asked while onboard about your departure - whether flight/car, etc. and then they will assign a coloured luggage tag based on that. Or you can do walk off with all your luggage first call.
  21. Not sure if this would be the same on ever ship but my app shows this order Welcome, Italian, French, Mexican, Caribbean ,Royal, Bon Voyage (which is also same as Mediterranean)
  22. Yes it states right on the menu extra tails available for $16.99. The new menus popped up today on my app for the Jan 22 Oasis sailing.
  23. You can make reservations online or in the app about a month before sailing.
