  1. 10 day Baltic cruise for our 30th anniversary in 2007. But we now have an 11 day cruise booked for this summer, London (Southampton) to Reykjavik. It includes our anniversary on a sea day between Norway and Iceland.
  2. With DW being a (now retired) art teacher, we will be very interested in museums when our cruise will have the port for Brugge. I researched and after eliminating 2 museums, one closed on Mondays and the other closed entirely for renovations, I came up with 5 art museums. Groegnmuseum Museum Sculpta Museum of the Church of Our Lady Dali Expo Gallery Our Lady of the Blind I also found a French Fry Museum, and that sounds so whimsical that to me it is a must see, and a break from just art. Does anyone know how close these are, and how practical it is to see several of them? Keep in my mind that DW can spend lots of time at every picture.
  3. Since the ETIAS has not yet been implemented, NO.
  4. I wonder if the creative accountants have a special line for overcharges not caught by the passenger and brought to the attention of the onboard staff. 😉
  5. I took saying the safety video is as useful as the airline safety brief prior to takeoff as you saying the new muster drill is insufficient.
  6. So they saved the worst for last! I would vote for deliberate disinformation as they did not want to give any excuse for passengers to cancel. But you have to give them credit for withholding this information until the last minute so as to not ruin the enjoyment of the cruise earlier. 🤦‍♂️
  7. Since you maintain that neither the old nor the new muster drill trains passengers properly, how would you propose to have passengers trained to be properly prepared for an emergency?
  8. You are not arguing for bringing back to the original muster drill instead, are you? 🤣
  9. The accounting system works in strange and mysterious ways. It is not something we mere mortals should even attempt to understand.
  10. He was on our 2010 sailing on the Golden Princess. I remember him speaking often. He also was always around and available to speak with one on one. I remember him being delighted when he heard we sometimes saw deer in our neighborhood.
  11. Once again, you post a response that is a non sequitur.
  12. And that is all the more reason to devote resources to training.
  13. More resources should be put towards training new employees and continuing the training of present employees. This is a problem caused by management.
  14. And my point was ships over 2000 were once the large ships. They are now mid sized. And even the 3000+ are "small" compared to the ships being built today.
  15. And they are very INSISTENT on their advice not to use it.
  16. That reminds me of an old Borscht Belt joke--the food was terrible, and you could not even get seconds. Bringing this back to mid size ships, I would bet the definition of what is a mid size ship has become much larger over the years.
  17. Actually, I saw the RIB boat tour in the excursions offered by NCL for Geiranger (at way, way above what I saw posted as the price for private tours).
  18. Reading these comments, i am glad we will be there on a Monday. 😊 I found only one museum we might be interested in to be closed on Mondays (and another closed every day due to renovations). Plenty of them open. Checking our itinerary further, our Sundays are sail away and a sea day. The only other weekend day is a Saturday in Alesund, and I don't expect it to be overrun with tourists..
  19. We did a Princess cruise out of Dover. We also had one booked out of Southampton that never sailed due to the Covid shutdown in 2020. Princess definitely treats the Southampton cruises as more of a priority. They have transfers to Southampton both from the airports and from London, while there were only transfers to Dover from the airports.
  20. The earliest flight time allowed will be later of course if you take an excursion to the airport instead of directly to Heathrow. But we did find this option well worth the extra cost.
  21. Yes, but doesn't McDonald's coffee now come with that warning ever since someone sued them and won? But I do agree with you that this can be taken to ridiculous extremes with an attempt to warn about anything that could possibly happen.
  22. And a travel agent might very well be able to quote a lower fare and/or supply OBC.
  23. Why, because the excursions were purchased from Carnival. Every cruise line will speak to you to purchase excursions directly from them even if the cruise itself is purchased through a TA. They are cruise line excursions, not travel agent excursions!
  24. In 2020 when we had a Princess cruise from Southampton (which unfortunately was a Covid cancellation) we had booked excursions back to Heathrow which included a stop in Stonehenge. Assuming they still have this option, they will give you a time that is the earliest your flight can be for you to take this excursion. In 2014, we did something similar with Princess from Dover going to Heathrow with a walking of Dover plus a stop in Canterbury. It really makes it seem like you are still on your cruise vacation instead of just heading back to the airport. It was well worth the extra cost.
