  1. Paperbacks are easier to pack. We buy ours at a read it again used bookstore that uses its proceeds to fund literacy volunteers.
  2. At least they corrected it. But it is disconcerting how in the rush to get a scoop the media these days will print or post "information" before it can be confirmed.
  3. Good choice. Newark (EWR) is a much better airport to fly in and out of than JFK or La Guardia. JMHO
  4. Here is the link to the previously mentioned forum to get information including about London. British Isles/Western Europe - Cruise Critic Community
  5. And several people on these forums guessed that after Covid, the Carnival Corporation Board of Directors would either not renew the shareholder OBC or at least make you own twice the amount of stock to receive it. But instead, they not only renewed it but the first time they renewed it was not for one year as they normally did, but for 2 years.
  6. What would happen if a medical evacuation was need on a sea day. The reason I as ask is that on our last cruise, DW first went to the medical center on a sea day between Norway and Iceland. She was given an exam and a prescription for constipation. A few weeks after the cruise, her condition worsened, and she ended in an ambulance, then an emergency room, and finally was hospitalized as the constipation was only a symptom of what was wrong.
  7. Very little is an exaggeration. They will have nothing to say. Any case, even if there was one, would have to start in a much lower court and work its way up. And there is no chance it would get to the Supreme Court.
  8. Princess actually sails from both Dover and Southampton. We sailed Princess from Dover for a British Isles cruise in 2014. We had a Princess cruise to the Norwegian fjords that was supposed to sail from Southampton in 2020 that was lost to Covid.
  9. I believe it is multiple terminals. You can probably confirm this by calling NCL. We did the same thing last summer. We did not want to schlep our luggage to London and then back to the airport. IIRC, we went to terminal 3 to get our transfer.
  10. Old? And you were 5 in 1973? I was 26 in 1973, I must be ANCIENT! 🤦‍♂️🤣
  11. Yes, she does that. She can have a lounger a long time, but she is definitely not a chair hog.
  12. Yes, but I think the main reason they keep it is it is a marketing tool that costs them practically nothing.
  13. DW swims laps, or at least tries to, and keep easily go that long or longer.
  14. There was so much chatter in these boards about Carnival Corporation dropping the shareholders' OBC when the stock tanked after Covid. Many, including me, argued that it would remain as it promoted sales and cost the corporation almost nothing. They are not going to drop it; it is an easy vote each year to extend it.
  15. Our last cruise, London (Southampton) to Reykjavik on the Prima had absolutely ZERO excursions priced at $50 or less.
  16. Wasn't Carnival, but we once had a cruise disembark 2 days late because a hurricane kept us out of Fort Lauderdale. The next cruise did sail, though not only shorter but with different ports because of the damage done by the hurricane. I don't think any cruise line wants to cancel a cruise entirely when they still have a chance to sail.
  17. We had an NCL cruise last summer, and on the whole their call center was fine. They always answered right away. The one time I was having a problem with one of them, she finally understood she was misinterpreting what I was asking for and after putting me on hold and asking another department, she was able to give me what I requested. Also, they were always easy to understand, no strange accents because of being in some foreign country.
  18. If the TA thought the commission from Silver Sea was not enough for her to bother with the booking, why even bother switching the booking to her?
  19. Wishing you good luck having you all on the same flight. It does sound like a nightmare if you are not.
  20. I think you nailed it. People either love or hate the Prima after sailing. And all too many hate it without sailing on the Prima based on the negative posts and reviews.
  21. I wonder if they really REGRET not offering compensation. 🤣 Somehow, I doubt it.
  22. As I wrote in a previous post, we docked there this past summer. However, it is possible a ship may have to tender if there are too many ships. We once had to tender in Corfu as there were 3 ships and 2 spaces to dock.
  23. When we had a cruise from Dover, we booked the excursion back to Heathrow that had a walking tour of Dover and then went to Canterberry. I agree with you about Canterberry, plus it made it seem like we were still on our cruise vacation as we headed back to the airport.
  24. Excellent point as it shows the absurdity of the information given.
  25. I remember the ticket line as not too short or too long. It was actually the last thing we did before returning to the ship. We got back on the hop on hop off bus after the Funicular. Luckily, one came pretty much right away as we only got back not that long before all aboard (though when I pointed this out to DW she pointed out there were many in line behind us to get back onboard. I had my doubts whether we could get back on time, but DW insisted we would visit the Funicular.) Our ship also docked before things opened and left earlier than we would have liked in the afternoon. Our first stop on the hop on hop off bus was the university. The museums there were not yet opened, but we had a nice walk through their gardens. Then we visited one of their museums. Our next stop was Kode, which had several art museums. (DW is an art teacher, now retired.) Then we took the bus again to the Funicular.
