  1. Disagree on that one. Sorry. I am responsible for a non-profit with thousands on members worldwide. All inquiries are answered within 2 business days. Calls flow to those who take calls directly. If they have too many the directors and officers are notified and we step up. If you can communicate to someone that providing two things: #1 a booking confirmation via email or access via signing in to Celebrity that CLEARLY outlines the terms of the cruise contract AND #2 has someone read and put out clear and CONCISE press releases. That was my job. They could put out instructions to EVERYONE then simply update as needed. A simple search by departure country would eliminate thousands of phone calls.
  2. You actually got the rejection info when you cruised without MoveUp. I have not ever received a notice my bids were rejected.
  3. Yawn. The last time real numbers of cases on board were released was mid December. The color system said little or nothing to help. Especially when how many passengers reported testing positive immediately or shortly after disembarking? Dozens on cruise critic alone. Good riddance. Agree with TeeRick.
  4. If truly stressed then wait. The current chaos in flights, baggage and then covid cases rising make this a tough time stress wise. A personal decision. If claustrophobic the decision is easy.
  5. The two bids we had accepted were both two days from sailing.
  6. Lots of bag issues. Friends flew Vancouver to Amsterdam in May and bags arrived 4 days later. Son was the head speaker in Dublin last week. Gave his speech in Bermuda shorts and a polo shirt. Best you can do is fly in a couple days early and ALWAYS have a carryon bag with meds, documents and 2 or 3 changes of everything except pants.
  7. Several threads discuss exactly this. Refunds are taking several weeks. An email explaining exact details from booking number to dates confined should move things along. I would send to the executive offices or the Celebrity Engagement Center. Someone else likely has a better address. There are so many issues Celebrity is sadly falling further and further behind on correspondence.
  8. 5-7pm you get drinks. The package probably not worth it for you.
  9. Not calling the emergency number for Celebrity Air certainly complicates things. Understand it was your first use of Celebrity Air, but that should have been your first action. Understand your panic at boarding. Good thoughts on getting resolution.
  10. No glitch. Checkin opens APPROXIMATELY 45 days before your cruise. It sometimes is 44. Other times later in day 45. Relax. Your not getting the email is your clue that Celebrity has not opened checkin. Cruises also usually do not open on Sunday at whatever location does that task.
  11. The extra OBC for booking on board is available on the website and there are many threads on exactly this. This is one area that has not changed in over 10 years.
  12. Your Captain's Club status or room category does not matter. Anyone can drop their "stuff " at their cabin.
  13. There are several other testing companies out there that are reputable. Another choice. Rapidtestandtrace.com is available 24/7. Accepts any government approved test - their report indicates the specific test. $20US. Easier and faster if you download Microsoft Teams (similar to Zoom) beforehand. Am sure there are lots more. Several Canadian companies as well. Locally testing with symptoms and a doctor request is covered by insurance. Never made sense to me that a test for tourist travel would be paid by the government.
  14. How is Celebrity supposed to know what the requirements will be for Bermuda in in a couple months? They don't know if Bermuda will change its requirements for next week! If one is uncomfortable with the requirement for this fall change to a different cruise - many TAs do not stop in Bermuda - or cancel. As to the $40 charge from Bermuda, it applies to a travel authority and as such those traveling must complete and pay just like a visa. Wish it was not there but it is. $40 is insignificant compared to the total cost of a cruise. Agree with Denny the don't tell attitude is a bit unfortunate.
  15. Azamara is no longer associated with Celebrity.
  16. There is another issue in play. Take a look at the threads on Cruise Critic. Questions as simple as when do I need to be on board my ship could be answered on the website - yes I know it is not so good - instead of a phone call. Same for wanting the Covid card approval from Celebrity or Bermuda. Bermuda works on island time and Celebrity has no control. Celebrity is getting all the approvals before cruising. Yes, often only a few days ahead; but they are getting hundreds of calls a day about this. If cruisers would take a bit more time to search out answers before calling X the waiting time would be shorter. Last, I organize progressive antique car tours. I have tried to find people to arrange the motels and then update and confirm that everything is OK. Flexible hours, only need a phone and offering $20/hr. Gave up after trying 2 applicants as it takes 1YEAR and a couple hundred hours to train someone. Cruise reps have an even more difficult job.
  17. Welcome as a new poster to Cruise Critic. As Bo said, you are asking at the wrong forum. There is an entire forum for travel insurance questions. I personally would call Steve at the Travel Insurance Store. That is all he does. There are hundreds of companies that write travel insurance and thousands of different policies.
  18. Again- the slot machine credits you get cannot be cashed out. Play them on the cruise of lose them. They are played first. Anything you win is fine to turn into cash.
  19. Why stress. You have time to test at home. Test with a proctor at JFK if it bothers you. A test takes about 10 minutes. Or at 4am at your home airport should also be easy. Lots of quiet corners in airports that early. It also is a bit more than 1 days as UTC time is used which is likely about 5 hours ahead of you. PS - welcome to Cruise Critic
  20. Purplsmurf- I have answered multiple times. Very politely that ArriveCAN is an app. Celebrity is an app. They have nothing to do with each other. But both are required. That is why I kept explaining you and your DW need to complete it. Your adult son and niece each need to do it as well on their own. You each need to show it to CBP in Canada. Others as well sent you copies of the Government of Canada rules. What is important is you will not be allowed to board a cruise that ports in Canada unless you ALL complete the app. Nobody has ever done ArriveCAN before it is new. Hope you figure this out. Possibly your son or neice can help. Happy cruising.
  21. Think you have a plan going forward. An email or two - don't waste your time calling on a weekend - to the top AND the credit card dispute are the actions. Give them the facts short and sweet. Copies as an attachment of your cruise and air booking and payment. Keep you note free from any emotional comments. Tell them exactly what you expect them to do. Make sure the paperwork shows both the original ABC confirmation and amount AND your payment at the airport. Things right now are chaotic at best. Do not try to find fault because it could just as likely be the airline made the error and misapplied the payment. Agree with the host - until things settle down book with the airline. If you really want an airline consolidator booking becsure to verify that you are ticketed with the airline.
  22. If you want to just call - no video - Talkatone is an app that gives you a second phone number. You can call anyone in the US using WIFI free. The other person does not need to have Talkatone. Thus you can call businesses etc. Talkatone has been around for many years and has relatively cheap calls to other countries. Rates on their website. The only downside is you need to use it once every 30 days. I simply call weather in my home town.
  23. As said Celebrity will reach out to you. About 80% of phone reps are new and thus pretty useless. They are also bombarded by thousands of silly calls that could be answered by wandering through the website just a little bit.
  24. Again you can use ANY government approved test. Simply order or buy a few at a chemist. Presume the UK also has a program with free tests. In the US we can get 8 per month. A proctored test is far easier. Just do it on your phone - can probably print it at a hotel a printed copy not required. And check out the company website to make sure you have the required app to make it easier.
  25. No benefit to buy a 3 year old product on board. Lots of ways to spend OBC and if some is from your TA and listed as OBCR it is refundable.
